  • Love it so far but well see - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

I bought mine used after shopping around for what I want. After much research I got my car. It was fine for the first 3 months but now the engine light goes on and off alot and the Passenger Window motor went out at only 34K miles

I have nearly 78000 miles now. I have had a few problems with the Jetta. 1) Window regulators times 2 (one fixed under warranty even at 38000 miles.) 2) Rear brakes wearing prematurely. Overall, I love my jetta great cargo space, great performance, comfort. Would by another VW.

  • Fun to drive but ... - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

My car belt just went the other day and the cost was about $400 to replace the belt. This took 3 days, so I had to rent a car, another $100. Total cost was $500 to fix the car including rental charges. My check engine sensor has broken again for the 3rd time. Currently, the passenger side lock does not go all the way up, so I have to keep pressing unlock once or twice for it to go up all the way.

  • Nice Car - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

Unlike other reviewers I have had fairly good luck with my Jetta (knock on wood). Its interior is very handsome for its price but has some faults. The arm rest and glove compartment doors have both broke and the console creaks around the shifter. The VR6 is great and the exterior has nice conservative lines. Although I have liked the car I will probably buy my next car from a different manufacturer.

  • OK CAR - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

i bought this car with 89000 miles on it,really qood conditionn. This car is really qood as lonq as you have enough money to support it. The pieces for this car can leave you broke. But other than that.its a wonderful car to have. I recommend only if you have money to invest, but for those with first cars,or no money should look for something much more simpler.

  • 2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 2.0L 4cyl 5-sp - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

This car is fun and sporty, I just bought it 2 days ago and its been good. I bought it with 97,XXX miles. I dont have any check engine lights so far and no catalytic converter issues yet. My issues with the car are the cheap interior parts. The cup holder can only support the weight of one really small cup without breaking off (mine was broke at purchase) and I see why! The arm rest, glove box, door panels, floor vent (passenger side), the seatbelt covers on the floor, ash tray, etc. all cracked or broken. Thats what you get when you have a awesome German car with the interior parts made in Mexico. As to the rest of the car, very nice quality! At 100K mi, not worth more than $5000.00

  • Really great car!! - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

I bought my 2000 Jetta GLS 5 speed manual brand new. It now has 210,000 miles on it and runs the same as it did in 2000. Never left me stranded or broke down. Only major items replaced is the timing chain, water pump and battery which is common in any other car. As long as you change your oil every 3 months and flush the fluids regularly it should last a long time. The only problems Ive had with the car is the glove box hinge broke and the CD player works half the time. The car is not the fastest car but it takes off pretty quick and zooms around corners with no problem. Other than that I would recommend this car and would buy another. Ill let you guys know when it hits 300,000 miles!

  • Poorly built - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

This vehicle has tons of tech bulletins for costly repairs. Our problems in the first 25k miles include: **Bad Clear Coat, damaged first week of ownership - fixed after complaining to vw a few times. **Engine knock/tic that is reduced with an oil change every 2-3k miles. **Musty Smell coming from padding under carpet - told it is an $850 fix related to this poorly built car **Sway bar link came loose at 22k miles. **Rear brakes on this stick shift down to 10% after 18k miles. Front brakes are at full padding.

  • Cant afford to drive it - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

This car has got a beautiful interior, nice looking, body not rusting, but my wife and I are scared to take it anywhere. It sometimes starts and sometimes not. The mechanics cant find the problem, this gets expensive. All repairs on it are expensive. Im a 200 lb man and not much room for me. I have a sore back and this car is very uncomfortable. My old beat up Dodge van is fine. Id never buy another VW. Its not dependable. We have put so many repairs in it already. I will ride my Harley any day, much more reliable

  • FAST AND FURIOUS - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta

I have owned my VR6 w/ A/T since July 1999.This car is designed to be DRIVEN!! and believe me I have pushed it to the limits. I love the power and the performance. I enjoy the sound system and the interior lighting. During the first five years, I replaced the battery, a couple of sensors and rear brake pads. My window parts were replaced under warranty and my cup holder is broken. No other problems after 50,000 HARD miles. Now my check engine light comes on more frequently and I have more wind noise. I just had to have a coolant leak fixed and the engine cooling fan motors replaced. So far, the fun and performance of the car has outweighed the upkeep expenses but I doubt it lasts to 100,000.
