Trading in for another Jetta - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jessie - August 29 - 9:23 pmThis is a great economical car that is comfortable for all passengers. Mine survived some 550 mile work weeks and 12 miles of gravel roads a day. The suspension took a hit here and there but I treated it like a farm truck from time to time. Mine still runs and drives great at almost 172k. Im in the market for a new 5spd Jetta.

Luv it - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jettafan - July 2 - 10:00 amMy husband & I love my Jetta. Its Sporty, quick & reliable with an awsome sound system. Great for people or couples without kids. The backseat is kinda small for passengers. I mainly have it to commute to work. The backseat folds down for x-tra cargo space. My V6 has a ton of power. My husband calls it the sports car. When given the choice on which car to take on a trip, we have always chosen the Jetta.

Erins review - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By erin - June 19 - 7:40 pmI have a love hate relationship with this car. Love the way it looks, hate the way it performs. Since day one, nothing but problems, currently working with vofa to try to get it fixed (cat convert anyone?). 10 y. O., just turned 60,000 miles because Im afraid to take it anywhere for fear I wont get there -- or back home. Cup holders, glove box hinge, arm rest: broken. Currently, bucking like a bronco. Do not buy VW.

Deep Pockets Needed - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By JJ - June 8 - 2:46 amDecent car until something breaks. Problems with O2 sensors, mass air flow and the famous broken windows. Battles with the dealers and VW doesnt endear me. Engine belts, broken fuel pumps and sensors only available from the dealer at astronomical prices keep maintainance high. The software for the ODB II is VW only and hard to find an independent garage with it. Oh did I forget the 1000 mile oil change? Add a quart every 1,000 miles! Melting knobs on the radio, broken door handle surrounds, cheaply made plastic parts. Did I buy a Yugo?

Junk Jetta - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jetta Schmetta - June 4 - 10:00 am2000 JETTA = Worst Car EVER! Problems since day one, it was a lemon. Within the first year i had to have the full TRANSMISSION replaced 2 times, the trunk replaced -would not shut, the two front windows replaced. After my warrantee ended the car fell apart even more: O2 sensors malfunctioning, Wheel Speed Sensors failing, etc. Most recently I took because my ABS/Traction lights flickered on, after 6 RETURN TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP in two months + $3,900 they ?fixed? my car. They had to replace the ENTIRE ABS BREAK SYSTEM, THE MASTER BREAK CYLINDER, 2 MORE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS, A Wheel ROD, and A BALL JOINT. The car rarily WORKED!

never again - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By ccjello - May 5 - 10:00 amI bought this car new, thinking I was getting a solid, reliable car. It looks good, handles well, and is fun to drive -- but it has so many problems, overall it has been one big frustration. Something breaks, I put the car on probation (and go look at Toyotas) it runs well for a while and then something breaks again. So far -- vents, latch on the center armrest & cupholders have broken (twice), glove box door fell off. Both driver & passenger windows have fallen & wont go up. Mass airflow meter, brake switch light have been replaced. Brakes locked. Check emissions light is ALWAYS on. And thats for starters. Service at local VW dealers is abysmal.

How well do you like your shop? - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By AnotherDissatisfacho - April 27 - 10:00 amThe the car is in the shop at least every other mo. nowadays, and parts are outrageous. Repairs include rear passenger window sensor, airbag, abs, fuel door (all under 24K); maf(VW pd 1/2), glowplug solonoid, brakelight switch--plus sth. is wrong with the a/c, the chk. eng. light is on again & the lift struts in the trunk are bad ($88 each!). (+ a $700 tuneup at 40K.) Contrast my used Neon--twice the mileage and 1/4 the problems & expense. I think the breakages wouldnt be quite so bad if you could get cheap parts, but you can only find genuine VW stuff! I bought the Dsl. partly b/c it would last forever--but I cant afford to keep it!
