Ill never buy another VW. - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By DavidPA - September 4 - 11:33 amI dont have time to list all of the problems Ive had with this car. The worst was the "transmission blew up from the inside". I enjoy driving it when it isnt in the shop, but the hassle of constant problems greatly reduces the experience. I know others who have had similar experiences, and it is clear that VW has written off a generation of Jetta owners. Their national and local customer service has been awful. After a major breakdown I limped to a local dealer who refused to even look at the car for 3 weeks. I called another dealer, but he hung up on me. The VW America customer service was horrible.

Pure garbage - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By alexis - March 7 - 10:00 ammy 2000 jetta constantly has something wrong with it. Please do not buy this car. My neighbors 2000 jetta also has had many problems. Electrical problems, brake problems, windows coming off tracks constantly, starting problems, annoying knocking that you eventually learn to ignore. Please dont take the chance.

Drivers Wanted - Mechanics Needed - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By lithia scumbags - August 13 - 10:06 amMy 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI is the worst car Ive ever owned. It has had lots and lots of problems with the front end, brakes etc... the list is endless. Dont make the same mistake I made, buy a Honda or Toyota. I spent all my free time at the dealership, waiting for the latest excuse why my car wont run right, but how there is nothing wrong with the car.

Terrible. Youd be better off riding a bike! - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By Izabella - January 20 - 7:50 amIf you intend to buy this car, you need to reconsider. I purchased my 2000 Jetta 1.8 in March of 2013. This is the breakdown of the repairs Ive made since March of 2013 -Engine blew $2400 -Front control arms $300 -Upper and Lower radiator hoses $300 -4 Ball Joints $450 -Bushings, Stab Links $300 -Starter $250 -Front Axle $200 -Power Steering Pump $250 Ive done regular maintenance such as Tires, Brakes, Flushes e.tc. $500. Ive put more into the vehicle, but after all of the repairs Ive had, its hard to remember every single thing thats been done. Currently, the Heater Core is out. This will cost upwards of $1200. (Im unwilling to put this much into it). By this point, I would have been able to invest a good sum into a new car. It seems like every 3 months, something goes out that costs a minimum of $250 to fix. This past winter, I went to roll down the window and the crank broke off. The vehicle is cheaply made. Its become a money pit. If you want to spend as much into a used, terrible car as youd like to spend into a new car, then a 2000 Jetta is for you. I wish I had known how awful the vehicle is before I had purchased it. Its very disappointing because the transmission has been running strong, even with 184k miles. At this time, Id have thought Ive put so much into the car that itd be running smooth. Unfortunately, about $5,000 later and an initial cost of $2,700, this thing runs like junk. Its so terrible, its become known as the "money pit" in my family. If you look at this car, you may as well just start walking because thats all youll be doing when you own this vehicle.

VWs are not as good as you think!!!! - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By Daniel Grayson - October 18 - 1:46 pmI have never heard of a car that has so many problems as this one. Sunroof, passenger side window, interior & exterior lights stopped working, starter, oxygen sensor, fuel sensor & fuel pump needed to be replaced. ALSO, this car has always been serviced at the dealership and everything was always done to this car religiously when it needed to be (oil, tune-up, tire rotation). I would not recommend a VW.

nightmare in the form of a car - 2000 Volkswagen Jetta
By Andrea - April 3 - 10:36 amThis car is very unreliable. Its one bad thing after another. First, maintenance. Once one thing falls off, something else will, like an endless cycle. (i.e. plastic paneling, glove box handle, cup holder, and even door cover). then, the light indicators on my dashboard always pop up. like for the airbags, brake switch, and even the wind shield fluid. The epc light comes on constantly, and locks the car in park for hours, even days. It gets really really bad gas mileage. You can only drive about 200 miles until you need to fill up again. I think this car was put together with Elmers glue and chewing gum. not even sturdy enough to consider super glue. Dont waste your money and life.
