  • Best Vehicle Ive ever had - 1998 Nissan Maxima
    By -

Up to this point, Ive never had any brand loyalty to any particular carm but that has changed with my purchase of a 1998 Maxima GLE. I have a 130 mile round trip daily commute and I wanted something reliable with power. The Maxima fits both bills more than adequately. For a car with so much power, its surprisingly miserly when it comes to fuel usage. I routinely get 26+ miles to the gallon. I am quite pleased with this purchase and will likely be a committed Maxima owner for years to come (although the new Infiniti G35 looks interesting as well!).

  • Great Maxima GXE - 1998 Nissan Maxima

I purchased this used Maxima that was three years old with 12,000 miles. It is a wonderful road car - I have taken a 3,700 mile vacation and averaged about 27 MPG. No problems ever except the alternator recall which was taken care of with no issues at all. I can only hope the 2004/2005 Maximas are as good as my 98! Best car I have ever owned along with my 99 Toyota Camry.

  • Wouldnt Trade Her For Anything! - 1998 Nissan Maxima

I Love my car! I bought her in 2005 with 108k. I immediately fell in love with his car and still love driving her. My Maxima is loaded with all the options. I absolutely love the climate control and Bose Sound! The interior design is beautiful- not cheap looking like the newer Maximas are. I feel totally safe driving this car- not to mention the smooth and powerful ride she gives. I now have 184k on her and have only had to do some basic maintenance. I am so impressed with this car. This was such a great purchase. I plan on driving her til she dies (which I dont anticipate being anytime soon!) I average 21 city, 28 hwy, and around 31 on long distance trips

  • My Best Car - 1998 Nissan Maxima

I have owned approximately 20 cars in my lifetime including 7 new cars. The Maxima is the best car Ive ever owned. It is comfortable and very reliable. I average 25 MPG overall and get 27-31 MPG on the freeway. Replaced front brake pads @ 90,000 and the rear brake pads at 135,000. Regular oil, filter & air filter changes are completed. Also installed one new battery so far but no other problems. The car currently has 138,000+ miles and purrs like a kitten. Overall - its a great car. I plan on driving it until it drops.

  • Great Car - 1998 Nissan Maxima

This car has been extremely reliable. I have never been stranded. Engine is fantastic even after 150k miles. I am glad I did some research on Edmunds. My only problems were a bad oxygen sensor, a bad knock sensor, and the fan switch only works on high. I still drive with these problems but hope to fix them soon even though they are minor. This car is the best bang for your buck!

  • Nissan knows how to build a great car! - 1998 Nissan Maxima

I think Nissan has earned a lifetime customer in me. This car is a dream. Performs like a sports car, yet still can haul my family. Just as reliable as any Honda I have ever owned. It has all the conveniences of a premium luxury car. The climate control works perfectly to keep a comfortable interior. Just one great car!

  • Cant Be Beat! - 1998 Nissan Maxima

Ive never even used the warranty! Outstanding car!! Great performance, comfort and overall abilities. This car has never let me down. Ive got well over 100,000 miles and am yet to take it anywhere for any repair. I tell people that its 5 years old and they are amazed. It shines like new, and its been waxed only 2 times in 5 years. It gets great mileage and still performs like a champ. Just be sure to use premium fuel and the engine will run smooth (premium fuel is required for this car). A/C is still ice cold and everything works fine. This car wears down very lightly. It just doesnt show much age. This is probably the best Nissan has ever built.

  • fun, reliable car - 1998 Nissan Maxima

This is my first Maxima and I would definitely buy another. The SE model is a really fun, sporty car with great road-hugging performance, especially with the Goodyear Eagle tires we have (our second set). I like the 98 design better than some of the newer models. The sound system is wonderful and reliability has been fantastic (current mileage 60,000). My daughter drives it mostly now and I feel confident the vehicle will operate flawlessly. She wont turn loose of it.

  • the max - 1998 Nissan Maxima

i jus recently bought my nissan maxima. i had a 89 bmw 325i before, and the maxima is cheaper to maintain. only problem i had so far is the rear calipers locked up on me. has a very responsive V6. this car has tons of dress-up, and performance parts. ive already changed my Y-pipe, intake and exhaust, lightweight flywheel, clutch, had my ECU flashed by JET, and oh man this baby moves. this car wont win a gas saver race, but i know i have fun buring the gas and hearing that 3.0 scream.
