Great Car to buy - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By monjoor - September 21 - 12:06 pmI brought this car used (100K) in 04 and put on over 80K. I am still driving it and still drives great. Thus I had to replace the muffler, the tie rods and the front axle, other than that no major trouble. Still very reliable, still drives very smooth, still has the pwr to pass any car in the hwy even with 180K miles on it. All the functions in the car still works. Overall, great car to buy. I had own 4 nisssan maxima so far, and they were all great and this is the best of all 4. Overall a great car to buy. I recommend it to any one.

pile the miles on - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By Tom - September 17 - 12:46 pmBought this for a low cost commute for 800 miles/week. Bought it with 95K and after a year its at 140K miles. Ive had to replace O2 sensors, one spark coil, and half shafts (they werent ready to fail but the boots were cracked) at a cumulative cost of about $900. The car still drives new, looks to be a couple of years old and gets about 28+ mpg. The performance has fallen off some but it is still fast. The handling and steering are as tight as a new car. Pretty amazing.

The best car to-date I have owned. - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By Rick Martinez - September 7 - 10:00 amExcellent all-around vehicle. Great for all kinds of drivers whether you like speed, comfort, ride, performance, efficiency, comfort and quality. No manufacturer problems and smooth engine without surprises no matter how fast you drive it. The speed governor was unwelcome but I guess it helps bring down the price of insurance.

Im impressed - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By Imnion - August 12 - 10:00 amI bought this gem about six week ago and I love driving it. Plenty of power and the sound system (Bose) is outstanding. I got the Super Black with the Black leather interior. When I have this thing clean, it really turns some heads. Especially around dusk, the car looks real sharp. Nay an ounce of any trouble thus far.

Second Maxima - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By Yelis63103 - July 27 - 4:30 pmThis is my second maxima. the first one was 1995 and was totaled with 165,000 miles on it. the car had almost NO problems. just a few oxygen sensors and a starter were replaced. even in mid 2006 this car is still considered to be powerfull and fast ! i have enough money to buy Benz or BMW, but i still drive this because in terms of reliability you cant even compare this car to Germans ! right now i have 105k miles and i have changed: 1 oxygen sensor, AC leak, and 1 caliper pin, and muffler ps. i drive my car hard but take care of it

family sports sedan - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By pa funk - June 27 - 10:00 amBought it 2 years ago used with 30K miles, and it has been the best car Ive owned. It drives great, and is bombproof as far as reliability. Tight handling and, as it is loaded, a fairly plush ride. The Bose stereo is great!

Great Car - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By Damavr - June 7 - 10:00 amBought this Maxima in 1998. Got the top of the line (GLE) version with all the additional options (side air bags, heated seats, heavy duty battery, sunroof, spoiler, leather etc). Its a great car, I am still enjoying the ride and I dont even dream of trading it in since they will only give me around $10k and is definately worth a lot more.

Luxurious Ride, Fun Drive - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By heyphilly - February 23 - 10:00 amI have had my Nissan Maxima GLE for over 4 years now, and its performed like a beauty ever since. The engine is smooth and powerful, the interior is comfortable and luxurious, and the ride is smooth. Never had any troubles, except a small rattling fan which was replaced under warranty.

Poor mans BMW - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By Fishstick - January 11 - 10:00 amI bought my 98 SE (manual) last month and I love it. It is the best car for the money. It is extremely fun to drive, handles well under high speed cornering, and its a great daily driver.
