Great reliable Car - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By frank3251 - September 30 - 10:00 amBought the car with 22K on it. The car moves especially well for a V6 with only 190 hp. Engine is smooth and first rate, interior features are ok. Car is put together well. The clutch is mediocre if at all that much. Handling is ok, not really first class.

Reliable - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By 99-Vette - May 7 - 2:00 amThis is the second Maxima that Ive owned. This one has everything except leather. I bought it used with 27k miles and now have about 70k miles on it. If you are looking for reliability, look no further. The only complaint that I really have is the poor quality of brakes and rotors. The handeling could be improved a little too. It doesnt drive as smooth as I would have thought.

Updated Review 3 yrs & 150K miles later - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By GKLCPA - January 5 - 4:13 amI was just looking back through the various reviews when I noticed one I wrote in August 2002. Three years later, I still own the same Maxima which now has 150,000 miles on it. The car rides like the first day I got it and basically requires little other than basic maintenance. The vehicle has aged very well and I still highly satisfied with this purchase.

Pay Close Attention to this review - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By Luv Maxima - November 8 - 3:20 pmBought mine from 1st owner with 180K miles for $1700. Replaced the struts within 3 months and have only put brakes and an $85 part that controls trans shifting since then ( now have 215K). This car and drivetrain is absolutely bulletproof! (just change the oil using synthetic oil). If trans starts shifting hard it IS NOT the trans going bad, but a cheap little part just behind the battery that ANYONE can replace themselves (talk to dealer as they keep them in stock since they fail frequently on the 3.0 24V engine). Rides a little stiff but handles like a vette with GOOD Tires on it... QUICK as he%$, and I dont even drive that fast....

My Four Door Hot Rod - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By My98 SE - July 4 - 2:00 amI just turned 17 two weeks ago and to my delight my perents bought me a 98 Maxima SE with all the options availible that year except side airbags. I am known for having a lead foot and the Maxima handles that well. My friends and I timed the 0-60 time at 6.8 seconds with the car in power mode. The power mode lets the car rev higher and allows the car to shift more aggressively. The BOSE stereo is one of the best standard stereos I have ever heard in a car and is far better than the Infinity stereo in my old 96 Chrysler Concord. So if you want a hot rod on the weekend, a comfortable driving car Mnday through Friday but are on a budget than I highly recommend the 98 Maxima.

Used car best buy - 1998 Nissan Maxima
By bkiser - May 22 - 2:00 amWe "traded down" to our 1998 Maxima SE from my wifes dream vechicle- a 4Runner limited so that she could stay home with our child. Originally, she thought it would be a sacrifice, but she has since decided that she likes it more than any car she has ever owned. We looked at several Acuras, Lexuses, etc., but the Maxima offered similar luxury with much better performance. Plus, the car gets 30+ mpg on the highway (at 80mph)! Unbelievable!
