We decided to try a Nissan vehicle, because they werent as common as an Accord or Camry, and Nissans do not get stolen as much compared to these cars. We purchased this with 32,000 KMS, and the car has been running problem free! The luxury touches are wonderfull! These cars come with many options, engine is silky smooth, and they look great! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a family sedan, with a little luxury and sportiness.

  • Great all around sedan. - 1998 Nissan Maxima

Bought a 1998 Maxima GXE in Jan. 2004 w/ 128,000 miles. Perfect! I wouldnt own any other car (this is my first car). It gets all the ladies, even though it is purple (maroon) and has wheel covers. I love everything about it. I dont want to sell it. About $100 in repairs in 4,000 miles on a well-used 6 year old car! And that includes $60 for its first brake rotor replacement. This cars virtues are simply too numerous for words.

Very functional, roomy performance sedan. Good road manners on freeway or windy country roads. SE suspension gives road feel without the rough sports car ride. Dependable never fails to start. Easily "modable" for the enthusist that wishes to squeeze a few more horses from the very well built 3.0L V6 Fine for 4 adults. 3 small kids will fit in the back if they get along ... Ample trunk room. A joy to drive on the daily commute or sunday run through the country.

I bought my nissan in 04, having owned a nissan before knew it would be a great buy with 68000 miles on it. Have had to replace starter front cvc joints and front brake pads twice. I am on second battery. This car is wonderful - looks good runs great. But I do not put premium gas in it, just regular and have had no problems and get 27 miles city 30 on highway.

  • Best car ever owned! - 1998 Nissan Maxima

I have owned my Maxima GXE for 7 years. This is by far the most reliable car I have ever owned. I have never had to have anything major done just normal replacements muffler, tires and brakes. I highly recommend this car to everyone. Its great to drive, comfortable and good on gas. I could go on and on about this car. I will drive it until it falls apart. It drives as if it were brand new and it has 140k miles on it.

  • Best Car Ive Owned - 1998 Nissan Maxima

Bought a new 98 Maxima SE 5spd to replace a BMW 525. Ive driven 215k miles and the only non-wear item replaced has been the alternator! Still has the original clutch, second set of spark-plugs, and second set of brake pads. I drive mostly highway and average 26 mpg. It seems to have a perfect blend of economy and performance, and I couldnt be happier!

Bought a black SE w/ leather and manual tranny last year. Ive driven it hard and it hasnt let me down yet. For the money, there is nothing that couldve touched this in performance, comfort and looks. I recommend switching to synthetic oil, platinum spark plugs and dont even think about using 89 octane gas. (Something to consider before buying with gas prices what they are.)

  • Excellent Buy - 1998 Nissan Maxima

I purchased this car from a deal who priced it incorrectly at $4,900 (in 05 w/138k), what a steal. This is my second Maxima initially owning a 95. I have been completely sold on Nissan quality. The steering/ride is a nice mix of European "feeling the road" with some American "comfort/ease of use." Repairs are more costly than domestics, if you ever have to do them. The longevity of the mechanicals, fit and finish certainly bring the cost of ownership below American brands and certainly German makes. If you are comparing to Camry and/or Accord- you gain a great deal more fun, but lose a bit at the pump- I have maintained 25 mpg hwy- and premium is recommend- but I do med- grade at times.

  • Fun family car. - 1998 Nissan Maxima

This car is a fun to drive family car. I really enjoy the handleing and acceleration. I bought this car used, and after a couple months the engine would blow blue smoke on accelerating. A new engine later (warrany replacement) and I am one happy camper. I am 66", I feel a little cramped, but they really dont make a car for my size.
