  • Worry-free ownership - 2010 Toyota Corolla

We bought this new from dealer. This is the best, most reliable car Ive owned. Owned Thunderbird, Expedition, Civic, Toyota truck, Suburban. Best so far. Never been in shop for repairs. Always had synthetic oil. Runs like a more expensive car. Does 80-85 easily on freeway. Gets decent mileage, especially with K&N filter. The paint is the only negative. Very thin, gets scratched easily. Other than that, weve been very happy with it. Wife does not want to give it up. (I wanted to trade it in.)

Corolla is quiet, smooth, pleasant. This car is not really designed for tall people, and people of average-and- above girth. Im 62" and 180 pounds; the leg space is acceptable (just so- so), but my left elbow is passed the door elbow rest, with the seat all the way back; the seat cushion is too narrow - its side bolsters dig into my behind, making longer drives very uncomfortable. There is no lumbar support. The steering wheel telescopes and tilts, which is good. Controls are logically placed, simple, and easy to operate. Amber back-lighting of the instrument panel looks great, but the red needles badly crash with it. The stereo system sounds very basic.

I bought my Corolla back in October. Ive had 30+ mpg since I bought it, which makes me really happy. Now that its been warming up Ive been getting an average of 32.8mpg. Im happy with that. I actually test drove quite a few cars, and kinda was always telling myself my next car would be a Hyundai Elantra. I actually really liked the feel of this car when I drove it, so I bought this car. I was reading the consumer reviews of the new 2012 Elantra and real life mpg isnt any better than my car.

  • Excellent value, great mileage - 2010 Toyota Corolla

I bought my 2010 basic Corolla A/T 3 months back and I must say that I am loving it. I was initially considering a Yaris, but the Corolla was just priced well enough for me to switch. I am a city driver and am getting 30mpg average. But when on freeways, staying around 55-60mph gets me over 45mpg easily. The engine gives decent acceleration and the brakes are not touchy, the standard speakers (4) are decent and the dash-board layout is straight-forward, and overall the exterior is respectable.

If you hit 60 mph, you feel yourself close to God because you might die anytime. The car loses all its balance, steering/handling is out of control, as if there is a strong wind hitting you sideways. I called toyota, they said they are aware of the issue, but no recall yet. If several people dies, I guess then they will start dealing with the problem.

I knew I was buying a very cheap car that would get great gas mileage. However, I guess that it would be marginally better than my low expectations. Gas is Good, but not what was on the sticker. Im at around 28 mpg. Tires show excessive wear at only 10,000 miles. And car will not start sometimes. Had it to the Toyota dealer and they cant find the problem. They will however sell me additional services that are not requested. I should have bought the Elantra!

  • Nothings perfect but this car is close - 2010 Toyota Corolla

My wife just completed a trip and averaged 46 mpg according to the cars display window. a lot more than we thought we would get. Some people on this review page are very hard to please. This is a very nice car, I only have trouble getting into it. Im not the tallest guy on the block but I have to work on getting into it. Our local dealer is hard to deal with, so went out of town. he is always telling me he pays the same as the other dealers, but I have to remind him he doesnt sell as low as the other dealers. We like the car, fun to drive. We just are hopeful for many miles of out of it.
