Overview & Reviews
In an effort to mold its image into that of a serious first-rate automobile manufacturer, Hyundai has recently added standard equipment and enhanced the performance of several of its cars. The redesigned Accent and new Sonata are proving that this South Korean automaker has finally learned how to build a good car. The current Elantra provides even more proof, and the company offers an industry-leading warranty program to back it up.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features.
- The price on this "inexpensive" Korean car keeps going up.

Fun to drive, great value, very reliable - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By proaudiorep - June 1 - 2:00 amBought in May 2000, paid off last month. I looked at Civic, Corolla and some other competitors there was no real competition for this car at its price. Amazing car for the money!

Car of my dream - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By VaKo - May 25 - 2:00 amUniversal car, powerfull engine, all needed feature standart. A lot of space affordable to move your stuff. Got my car with Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires and have to exchange them this summer after 35000 miles. Nice tires and short braking distance.

Never Again - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By Monties - May 17 - 2:00 amRides smooth WHEN it runs right. Numerous stalling, skipping and bucking problems and frequent shop visits. 83,000 miles, 4 transmissions and 2 master computers later, I got rid of this car.

Only if you, too, are $ challenged - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By $$ challenged - May 13 - 2:00 amI bought my Elantra in 99 when my car (an 89 Corsica I would LOVE to have back) died unexpectedly on a road trip. As a recent college grad (with a degree in teaching no less) I was strapped for cash. I needed an affordable car with a great warranty. I must admit, for the money, the car has performed well. However, the options are limited and the car shifts horribly, lurching forward often at high speeds. In its defense, I have put a lot of miles on the car (80000 in less than 4 years) however, I have maintained service as well. The bottom line: if its all you can afford, go for it. If you can afford something else, youll probably be happier!

A great runner but maintinance Mucho $ - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By karloffb - May 5 - 2:00 amI loved the look of this car, the warranty and after reading the reviews on this site, how could I loose? After talking to the service personel at my dealership Ithink this car it will be TOO expensive to own.The list as follows: 1. Catalytic converter installed ($800! 2. Timing Belt (required after the first 60K) $400! and at first we were told several months ago $300 + 3. The infamous "o2 sensor" this is a known problem to every website on the internet except for edmunds.com $200 4. Change 4 spark plugs $99 (oh yes they also check a couple of things to, but if anything needs to be replaced extra$$$ 5. Transmission maintainence $169 6. Coolaint flushes $100 +

Great Car 4 Its Class - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By HAILU - February 15 - 2:00 amMost consumers only based their car buying trend just by known brand names of car prouduct lines,Hyundai proved them worng. This cheap in price but great in performance even better than known compitators i.e Honda civic, Toyota Corolla etc.powerful engine (140hp)which is much powerful than the Toyota corolla CE(125hp).I have this car now for about 6 month and havent seen any problem on it. I will advice America to turn their face for buying such economical and reliable cars with out digging in to their pockets for simillar even lesser cars just because they have stayed on the market for long but their quality going south.

A Well Kept Secret - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By voodoo9055 - February 2 - 2:00 amFor starters, the realiablity on this car is amazing. I am now pushing a little over 43,000 and I have not experience any major problems. I have replaced some sort of sensor that was part of a recall. Other than that, I had to take it to the dealership twice because my driver side window stop working. It was the regulator. Overrall, it is a nice car, but you WILL get bored of it quickly!!! If you are buying this car based on price and this is all you can afford, then it is a good buy. Otherwise, if you are buying this car and you can afford a better car, then dont buy this car because you wont be happy.

Great car - 2000 Hyundai Elantra
By El dog - January 20 - 2:00 amIve driven over 32000 miles in this car since Feb. 2000. No major problems, and its a powerful small vehicle with 140hp. I have the five speed which lets me keep up with the big guys. I cant think of a better car for the money.
