  • 145,000 miles and going strong! - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We purchased our van brand new and have been extremely pleased with the purchase. We have had to repair the basics that would be expected in a 9 year old, 145,000 mile vehicle. Honda extended the warranty and fixed the transmission at 105,000 miles. Other than that, its been brakes, tires, timing belt, fluids, etc. No major mechanical or electrical problems

  • Still worth the money - 2001 Honda Odyssey

Bought van brand new in Sept 2000. We got 119,000 out of transmission, Honda covered 75%, 500 out of pocket. Did have to replace the computer at 145,000. Check engine lite for evap code and catalytic converter inefficiency. Nothing that needs to be fixed on that yet. Still van is primary vacation vehicle. excellent on long trips, 2 NJ to Fla trips, numerous trips to Va. Tons of room, didnt know it wasnt comfortable until we bought an 2005 Accord EX. Pushed this van to the edge of its operational envelope. Despite the tranny and computer, van was well worth the money, got more than its value and its still trucking along at 10.5 years and 148,000.

  • scared. - 2001 Honda Odyssey

I am getting this car as a teen from my parents and after reading reviews i am scared. the last thing i need is my dad giving me an earful for blowing out the transmission which is bound to happen. after reading other reviews i am surprised it has gone 120k with the stock transmission the service light will NOT turn off. i just found out the bumper is nothing more than plastic. this thing is a hog at an SUV like 15 mpg. pickup trucks get more than that. although having bad mileage, it does have a lot of kick to it. but once again, scared to blow out the transmissiion

  • Superb Van - 2001 Honda Odyssey

We bought this vehicle new in 01. It has been nothing short of outstanding. Incredibly reliable, versatile and safe. With almost 150,000 miles, I wouldnt hesitate to take it on another cross country trip. Great in the snow and comfortable for all occupants. Fantastic storage, still very good acceleration and handles like a car. Also decent mileage for a large vehicle (21 city, 27 hwy) Id love to get a new vehicle but the wife absolutely loves it, so why spend the $$. Roll on Ody, roll on!

  • Excellent Car - 2001 Honda Odyssey

I have owned my Odyssey since 2001, its model year. So far, I have driven it for 163,000 miles without any problem. This model year had a transmission recall, so Honda replaced my transmission free of charge when the transmission died. Other than this covered warranty repair and routine maintenance, this car has not required any repairs. With three kids constantly going in and out of this car, I would have thought the automatic doors would eventually required some work. However, this car had not giving me any trouble. Its been completely reliable.

  • Wasnt worth the hype - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Bought it because it was a Honda. At least they covered the transmission the first time it went out at 70,000 miles even though it was properly maintained, better than GM or Ford would do! But, between the sticky rear door, front brakes every 20K and timing belt (why have one not a chain) the money spent is like a Chrysler. Higher resale was a joke because if I had bought a Chrysler for 3,000 cheaper I could have taken advantage of the Cash for clunkers and ended up ahead.

  • We got a lemon - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I wanted this van because of the great Honda Odyssey claim to fame, but our van was a lemon. So many things went wrong from the start and every time Honda said "this is so unusual for an Odyssey" yeah, yeah, yeah....now it is 149,000mi and needs new transmission. weve already replaced brakes 2x, go through tires too quickly, interior lights out, ....hatch lock broke, automatic door sticks even after SEVERAL times in to fix, ...and lots more.... Time for a change.

  • The best people hauler - 2001 Honda Odyssey

We now have over 175,000 miles on our Odyssey EX and to date we cant complain. The seats are very comfortable. Great driving position. Great visibility. Lots of room inside and all seats are comfortable. Rear seat folds flat in the floor. Dual power doors are a great idea. Has been hit a few times and still drives great. Doesnt leak or burn oil. Has held value exceedingly well. Decent power and handling. Quality of materials is impressive. Engine is soooo smooth! Yes, we had a transmission issue that was fixed by Honda (even though it was well outside the factory warranty - Thank you Honda). The only other repair has been the engine mounts. The rest is maintenance.

  • Fabulous Van! - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We LOVED our Odyssey! It never had ANY problems in all of its 8 years we had it! At the time we bought it, we had 3 small children! Great on long trips! Easy to park! Very comfortable seating... We just traded it on an SUV (Acura MDX) to do better in the snow, here in Colorado.

  • This van is a piece of junk - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We have owned this van for 2 years, bought it with 113000 miles and have already spent 1800 on it. Now the transmission and catalytic converter are going out. I am so angry at Honda for keeping this van on the road.
