  • Versatile, passenger/utility vehicle - 2001 Honda Odyssey

I bought this vehicle to replace a pickup truck and provide with added passenger capacity. It has exceeded all expectation. I chose the Honda for its record of reliability and its engine torque rating. Its towing capacity (3500 lbs) and interior space (capable of carrying a 4x8 sheet) easily cover my need for a pickup truck. I remove the seats, layout a custom fit carpet and carry tools and building materials inside. It makes a comfortable family van. I have pulled a camper over 10000 mi with no problems. On a trip to Mexico City (no towing) I averaged 27 MPG. On fishing trips to Canada I have carried 6 guys comfortably. Other than standard maintenance I have had no repair costs.

  • Best Family Car I Ever Had - 2001 Honda Odyssey

I was relocated from overseas and have driven many different makes and models. When I was in the US, I rented a couple of mini-vans to try out the different feel. I also test drove the vehicles exhaustively and tormented all the various dealers with my line of questioning and competiveness of their cars. Almost every competitor named only one car they saw as being the finest, The Odyssey. The Odyssey emerged as the Supreme master. My wife, a new driver here in the States couldnt have started off with a better car as as well as knowing she could always feel safe with its 5 Star rating.

I am in my late 60s, so I have owned a few cars. This car is the best car I have ever owned. I also want to say that the service I have received at three different dealerships. It has been excellent.

  • GREAT VAN - 2001 Honda Odyssey

WE BOUGHT THIS VAN 5/01. IT HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING. SEEMS A LOT MORE REFINED THEN THE CARAVAN I HAD BEFORE. GREAT DESIGN INSIDE AND OUT. FOLDING THIRD SEAT IS GREAT FEATURE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS VAN TO ANYONE WHO IS IN THE MARKET FOR A MINI VAN OR SUV. IT HAS MORE ROOM THEN AN SUV AND A BETTER RIDE.

  • My racing days are over... - 2001 Honda Odyssey

After 6 months of hints from my husband I finally took the Odyssey for a test drive. I was reluctant to be seen in a mini van after owning several Accords, Civics, CRXs and Integras. But I wanted more room for the tax deduction (aka new baby) so I kissed my youth goodbye and took it for a spin. Very impressed when compared to other minis I tested. After owning so many Honda products I guess you have to "dance with the one that brung ya". Hondas have always been reliable, never ever been left stranded for any reason.

  • Great Van - 2001 Honda Odyssey

Bought it new in Jan 2001, now Sept 2008 it has 102000 miles. No major problems, maintains quality impression of Honda. Around town it gets 16 MPG, on highway its 23+. Just took a 700 mile round trip from NJ to VT. Going it got 24+ MPG, returning it got 23+ MPG. Easy to drive, and very comfortable ride. After 7 years of ownership it is still a great vehicle.

At 60,000, the air conditioning went completely out. Were not talking a simple adjustment - the entire air conditioning had to be replaced to the tune of $2500.00. The bearings ground themselves to splinters of metal and shot through the lines, into the evaporator. No one at the dealership had ever seen anything like it. My warranty company sent 3 adjusters in just to see something they had never heard of before. At 68,000 miles, the entire transmission had to be replaced. Though Honda covered that, they didnt cover the engine mounts that had to be replaced as well. Thank goodness for the warranty company who picked up the $350.00 tab on that one. The only problem is that the "new" trans

  • Great Honda but Stinky Dealership - 2001 Honda Odyssey

01 Oddy is an upgrade from a 95 Quest. Handling is excellant due to lower profiling. Power is pretty good but it feels a little sluggist. This is no race car. No problem with the engine, tran or gas milage. The kids love it. One minor complaint is that the driver seat (electrical) seems to moved out of adjustment by itself. The biggest complaint is the dealership in Cerritos. I wrote a letter to the Honda Corporation and they have forwarded the complaint to the dealership but never heard from them. Norm Reeve Honda is too big and they feel that they can affort to neglect a few customers. Be careful with them and dont be the next victim.
