  • Disappointing - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We purchased our vehicle used with approximately 40k miles on the van. We have had to replace the transmission three times. I was always led to believe that Honda made quality vehicles I have been extremely disappointed. I have a 1995 Ford Explorer that has not given me a quarter of the problems the Honda Odyssey has and the Explorer has over 240k miles on it. The Odyssey is fun to drive however the I have been less than impressed with the required maintenance needed on the vehicle. I would strongly suggest someone buying this vehicle used request an extended warranty because you may need it.

  • The best minivan one could buy! - 2001 Honda Odyssey

Since I drove it off the dealer, there was no problems. The power sliding doors works fine, the engine is silky smooth just like a lexus or better. The interior is very roomy, it is even roomier than its rival, the town and country. On my Starlight Silver Honda Odyssey EX, I have installed customized PIAA fog lights and wind deflectors to make the van distinct from others.

  • Still Going Strong - 2001 Honda Odyssey

Bought this van new in 2001 and its never been taken to any repair shop. Dealer or otherwise. If youre gonna put your precious cargo (wife and kids) in a box, this is the one. The safest, the most reliable, the most luxurious and the most worry-free box out there in the market. BTW, I also own a BMW Z4 which has been to the dealership for "tweaking" 3 times since i bought it last year. Something about them Japanese engineers. I bet in the next 25 years or so well think Japanese when we think of prestigious automobiles.

  • Quite The Ride In The A.T.L. !!! - 2001 Honda Odyssey

Have had 1 Serious electrical failure, repair exceded 3 days. Small pebble cracked windshield. Paint quailty is comming into question lately. Steering wheel vibrates above 45mph on smooth pavement. The quality overall is good, and the car is safe for Atlanta driving/commuting. This is the car to have if you need a minivan. Good Performance, Good Radio Very roomy, very nice, Well Done Honda.

  • 2001 Honda Odyssey - still going strong - 2001 Honda Odyssey

This minivan has always been fun to drive. The way this car was designed, with its tight wheelbase and good road feel made me think that Honda wanted to capture the Accord drivers and had to offer a performance car with the highest safety ratings. It was relatively expensive at the time, but if Im going to drive my kids and other peoples kids everywhere, I wanted to the safest car. At the time, we spent a lot of time driving to activities and vacations. Honda did have a transmission recall, and did the whole replacement for free. We also liked the fact that you could convert the rear seat, which is not something other vans were capable of doing at the time.

  • Had to let her go - 2001 Honda Odyssey

I thought I would share my experience with this vehicle. I am now leary of Hondas reliability reputation. I bought the car new in 9/01. I put 112k trouble free miles on the motor, but I have replaced the transmission 3 times. Once at 40k, 2nd at 80k, and again at 109k. This is not indicative of Honda reliablity. Each time it was covered under warranty. I have never towed anything(didnt even have a hitch on it) However, I have a feeling the next one wont be and I cant justify paying $2,500 to 3 for vehicle only worth about 6. I had to sell it. Great family car for our "party of 5". My wife was ready to give it away. If you see one of these on the side of the road. Youll know why.

  • A sport sedan in mini-van clothing. - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

After test driving the Windstar, Caravan, Sienna, and Quest, the Honda was the clear winner. Although we had to pay OVER list and wait for it, it was well worth it. I swore Id never drive a mini-van, but I dont mind driving this van one bit. It is as easy to manuever and park as a mid-size sedan, and has better acceleration and is much smoother than sport-utes. I wanted a sport-ute, but after weighing mileage, space, functionality, and comfort it was really a no brainer. It is still as solid, quiet and reliable as the day it drove off the lot.

  • Elecrical Headaches - 2001 Honda Odyssey

I wont comment on the service I get from the dealership, but this car has constant electrical issues, the motorized doors dont close in wet weather, alarms buzz for no apparent reason, fuzes blow, motors in windows and winshiels wipers blow. I will be unloading this car this fall due to the number of times Ive been inconvenienced, and I am someone who prides on owning OLD cars. I currently own a 1990 Saturn, and had an 89 Celica (180Kmi) when I finally unloaded it, and it was still running well, just the body was shot. I will be buying a Toyota.

  • My 2001 & 2007 Odyssey - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We liked the 01 Odyssey very much so that we now own an 2007 also. The only problem to speak of was the tranmission. We had it replaced twice (under warranty). The van now has 92000 miles and going strong. The 01 is an EX the 07 is an EXL. Next year we plan on trading the 01 for an 08 Touring model.

  • Nice to drive - but poor reliability - 2001 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Purchased this to replace problem prone Sable Wagon. It was nice for 3 years but has had many problems since, new transmission (replaced by factory @ 44K thanks), door problems, rattles under hood, electrical problems, poor mileage ~ 13-15 overall except on long trips where its > 20. All service has been through the dealership. Overall we like the van - but too many little problems. The power doors hang up now - causing a buzzer to go off. Were told $500+/- to replace a motor. This isnt something I expect after 6 years and 90K miles from Honda.
