This Year's Model Updates:

No styling, content or trim changes for the 2000 Honda Civic. The performance-oriented Si continues for 2000, and there have been paint comings and goings: Taffeta White has been added to the CX and DX Hatchback, and Dark Amethyst has been dropped; Titanium Metallic comes to the DX, LX and EX Sedan, and Vogue Silver is gone. Vintage Plum is now available to the LX and EX Sedan, and Inza Red has been eliminated.

Pros:
  • Roomier than many cars in this class, agreeable levels of comfort in any trim level, powerful Si engine.
Cons:

The 2000 Si is a wonderful car to own repairs are inexpensive and infrequent, maintenance is a snap, and driving this car is a pure joy. If you want to upgrade and modify, there probably isnt a more versatile car out there. I owned my Si for 6 years, and sadly, it was stolen from me just before Christmas! To whomever did this...Karma is coming, and she wont be kind!

  • Decent Car - 2000 Honda Civic

I got my 2000 Civic in Aug. 2006, and it is a decent car overall. I like that it gets good gas mileage and that it is very reliable, but Honda could have made it a lot better. First off, the LX does not have ABS brakes, even though my 94 Integra did (which is built by Honda), and my Civic does not have too much HP, its around 104 HP. The inside does look cheap, but its comfortable. The exterior design is nice, but it does scratch and dent easily.

  • Great, great car - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this car about two years ago with 60K miles on it. It now has 120K+ and still runs great. Had to have something to do with the emissions control fixed, but it was actually still under warranty for that and no charge. Had to replace the battery, and then the oxygen sensor (about $200 at dealership). Also, drivers side window sticks in the rain, needs help coming back up. Other than that, still a great car. Reliable, practical, yet fun & attractive too. Great resale value too when Im ready for my next one.

  • Honda knew this car needed more torque! - 2000 Honda Civic

I have driven this this car since new for 70000 miles. Overall a good reliable car and fun to drive on flatter roads and curves. Engive loves to rev, but low RPM torque is *very* weak. Its difficult to start from a dead stop up hills with steeper grades (especially when youre with passengers) - the engine just doesnt generate enough power unless you really rev it and burn the clutch! MPG in my opinion is average - 25.5 over life of the car with "normal" mixed city/hwy driving - and requires premium fuel. The original front brake pads lasted over 60000 miles for me.

  • great car! - 2000 Honda Civic

I have had it for a year and I have saved lots of money on gas. I have only had to do normal maintenance on it! I have peaked up to 46 miles a gallon, but stay around 39-44. (I dont pass 2500 rpms) It has treated me very well and hasnt hurt my pocket book too bad. I would recommend the standard only, it has saved me from a few tight spots that an automatic wouldnt. It has a weak engine, but it is easy to manipulate with a standard and handles well. Remember though, this is a compact so it isnt the smoothest ride nor the roomiest, but I dont mind it.

I absolutely love my Honda Civic. In every aspect it has been a great car - the best car! I have never had mechanic, or any other problems. Six years after purchase, I still consider my car new. It looks great, gets great gas mileage, and runs as good as it did the day I bought it. I will be a Honda owner for life!!!

  • A really wonderful car - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this car for Hondas well- known reliability, the 4-door practicality, and the gas mileage. And so far, it has more than lived up to all of my expectations. I really love this car. I have the 5-speed trans, and I average about 29 mpg in the city (even with a little bit of a lead foot). The car has just turned over 38000 miles, and the only squeak on the whole car is in the rear-suspension when I back out of my driveway. Its so much better than any other american- made car I have owned. I will forever recommend Honda/Toyota/Nissan cars to anybody.

I bought this car new and it is a justified success story. It always starts and runs smoothly, getting great gas mileage all the while(36-40mph hwy). All I do is change the oil, rotate the tires, and wash it occasionally while driving about 15k mi. per yr. My original tires lasted 49k miles and I will not do a tune-up until 60k miles. Overall, its a very solid car for a reasonable price. I have friends with over 200k miles on their Hondas, so I expect to keep this one awhile. The only problem I had was a loose front passenger int. door panel which was replaced quickly by the dealer at 5k miles.

  • Still goin ( like energizer bunny ) - 2000 Honda Civic

Had this car going on 2 yrs. Ive put 26,000 miles on it so far. Its never let me down mechanically. I had to replace all four tires and have a 4-wheel alignment at 54k. I have to say, that really improved the gas mileage. I have oil changed at 3k mile intervals. Gas mileage is great (with reg going for $3.20 a gal, its a must ). The A/C blows very cold ( its about 100 degrees as I write this ). I dont think this car will ever die (knock on wood). Would definitely consider a new Civic with the improvements that have been made.
