This Year's Model Updates:

No styling, content or trim changes for the 2000 Honda Civic. The performance-oriented Si continues for 2000, and there have been paint comings and goings: Taffeta White has been added to the CX and DX Hatchback, and Dark Amethyst has been dropped; Titanium Metallic comes to the DX, LX and EX Sedan, and Vogue Silver is gone. Vintage Plum is now available to the LX and EX Sedan, and Inza Red has been eliminated.

Pros:
  • Roomier than many cars in this class, agreeable levels of comfort in any trim level, powerful Si engine.
Cons:

  • Great to get around in! - 2000 Honda Civic

This 5 speed was my best friend! It was my go-to, do anything car. I drive a lot for work and through the wind, rain, and snow, my Honda got me to the far corners of south jersey in incredible time even in its later days of 115,000 miles. GREAT ON GAS!! Especially if youre good at stick shift. VERY RELIABLE! Only work I had done was the timing belt at 90,000 miles (which is recommended) and the normal oil changes, air filters, tires, etc. Make sure you dont burn it up too much racing, that synthetic oil will go quick as the pick up in this baby. All in all it was a load of fun and great memories, with no tragic ones.

  • Good Little Car and Fuel Efficient - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought my Civic in 2000 brand new and it lasted me for 9 years until I got in an accident and totaled it. The battery went out within 3-4 years with about 35K miles, the tires had to be replaced twice (could be because I drove to school through a lot of construction), and the air conditioning went out at about 80K miles (Purchased everything new because it went totally out and I live in Texas so I cannot drive without air). Was a very reliable, dependable and stylish at the time type of car but can be very easily broken into by bad people. They break in through the windows easily and they dont roll down again until you get them fixed. Always do the maintenance on this car and get an alarm

  • Good Car So Far - 2000 Honda Civic

There havent been any major troubles about this car. Ive had to replace the exhaust manifold and oxygen sensor which cost ~$200, however, that really improved fuel efficiency. Before, I was getting around 28 mpg, but after I replaced those two, Im getting 37 mpg on the highway. Because it has a small engine the car does not accelerate fast, however, it is pretty decent. The gas is quite sensitive as it has some special fuel injection system. This is an efficient car, but the seats leave much to be desired, they are a bit stiff. I had to buy padding for them.

  • Great little econobox - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this car fresh off the lot with 17 miles on it. It now has 198,000 miles and still running great. No major mechanical issues and provides worry free driving with only regular scheduled maintenance. Even with the high mileage I still average between 31-35mpg on the highway!

After ten years on the road and 162,000 miles, this Civic EX is performing admirably. No major problems whatsoever.

This is a hassle free city car. Very versatile. Park anywhere, haul a good amount of stuff and reasonably pleasing to look at. Not a car to be excited by but certainly one to depend on.

  • RUNS - RUNS - RUNS - 2000 Honda Civic

I bought this used a few years ago with 80K miles. Had the timing belt/ acc. belts and water pump replaced at that time as per regular maint. Now have 115K of trouble free driving. This car should go 200K plus with regular service. This is a real solid, dependable little car. Keeps on going and going every day trouble free. Cant go wrong with a Honda.

  • Great commuter car - 2000 Honda Civic

Bought this car new and have put 230,000 trouble free miles on it. Seriously I have only done oil changes, tires, brakes, and the timing belt. Although I am still getting 36 mpg in mostly highway driving, it is getting a little long in the tooth and am looking for a new car. Want to by domestic, but cannot bring myself to not buy a Honda.

  • Its Worth every $$$ - 2000 Honda Civic

Bough it a year ago for my wife. Since then I had to tighten to nut that holds the wiper and... thats it. Just regular maintance. Its a good reliable car. I understand that my wife thinks its too weak, but its a commuter car, not a racing car. (She used to have a 5 spd 93 Civic DX when a teen & drive it at 100-120 mph) I commend this car for reliabilty. So far, so good.

  • The Little Civic that Could - 2000 Honda Civic

I got this car after my 16th birthday. Its a manual because all of our cars are manual. I told my parents that I really wanted to get a civic or an accord and they agreed. Ive put maybe 3,000 miles on it so far. The only thing that I had to replace was the clutch assembly because the previous owner burned it up. I love this car. The next car I get will definitely be a new civic. My family has bought new accords every 4 years since 1998. Its amazing how good these cars are! It has no blind spots and its easy to zip around people. I wouldnt trade it for anything. I dont use A/C so its not really a problem for me.
