This Year's Model Updates:

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata receives a minor shuffling of features among trim levels. Most notably, the base GLS model's manual transmission is no longer available, as a six-speed automatic is now standard throughout the lineup.

Pros:
  • Stylish and comfortable cabin
  • Lengthy warranty.
  • Lots of standard and optional features for the money
  • Top fuel economy
  • Strong acceleration
Cons:
  • Distinctive styling affects rear headroom
  • Rough ride in SE trim.

  • Worst car I ever owned! - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I have owned many cars and this one by far is the worst. Its bad on gas, burns oil and the steering is seriously messed up. I keep hearing how this manufacturer has come a long way, which makes me question how thats being measured. I Returned the first week of owning it. If you never driven any other car in the past 20 years this might be the car for you.

  • Beware of 2013 Sonata remote starter kit defect - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Bought my car in May. Everything is excellent with the car EXCEPT OEM remote starter kit had major defect if installed in the 2013 Sonata. Purchased kit during sale. Needed to wait 4-6 weeks before 2013 kits were available. When it was available, Hyundai dealership installed it but it failed (i.e., would actually turn engine off). Dealership informed me wiring instructions were wrong from Hyundai. Dealership kept car for 2 weeks and couldnt figure out problem. Regional technician came in and also couldnt figure it out either. Dealership removed unit and returned car back to factory default. Finally got my money back.

  • Gas Mileage Off by 1/3, total misrepresentation - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

When I was shopping for a new car, I was only shopping because I was taking a new position, and mileage was a huge factor. Bottom line, Hyundai advertised 35 mpg on 2013 Sonata, driving like a granny with almost 100% highway miles, the best I ever got was 26 mpg, but usually 25 mpg or less. At almost 14,000 miles on it, Im looking to trade it even though I have a wrap around 100,000 mile warranty with zero deductible. I cannot drive a car for 100,000 when I was flat out lied to about mileage, for which theyve already settle one lawsuit, and they still do it.

  • Some good and compromised quality issues - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I own a Hyundai Sonata 2013 Limited and have put 18 K miles on it. Hyundai Sonata is a solid car overall with a powerful engine, great design and several added features for a lower price. It also has very good safety ratings (which hopefully will not be tested while I am on the road). But to gain on these aspects, there are some compromises made by the company in making this car, which are pretty glaring and somewhat annoying.

  • Throw away car - 2013 Hyundai Sonata

You had better like Sonata because once you buy it the only place that will talk trade is Hyundai They seem to have no resell value at all Really wish I would have went for a Toyota Daughter in-law has one seem to me to be a more and better quality car. We have 25,000 mile on the car and it jut doe not really get me excited just transportation is all it is

  • Great Car! Great Price! - 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Bought a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.4L 4-cyl, 6-speed Automatic. Got black exterior with chrome accents. Under $22,000 delivered with Hyundai’s President’s Day incentives (which was about $6,000 off MSRP). Need to drive from around Gettysburg, PA to Virginia twice a week for work. Need a car that is good on the Interstate, stop & go traffic, and curved roads along the Potomac River. The Sonata has more precise steering and more power than my 2007 Camry LE. The 2007Camry has more of a luxury ride. Both average 30 mpg. 2013 Camry doesnt have luxury feel like my 2007. 2013 Altima has quality problems. 2013 Ford Fusion needs 305 hp Mustang V6 and better discounts. Sonata wins!

  • From Camry XLE to Hyundai Sonata Limited - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Had been driving Toyota Camries for the last 20 years. The new 2012 Toyota Camry styling just did not do it for me. I liked the Sonata exterior styling much more. The car is good looking and fun to drive. Rides nice and looks great. The Nav option is very nice; only complaint being the special cord required for IPOD use. The 2.4 engine is ample in power; a concern I had since I was coming from the V6. Gas mileage at this point not great, but still in break in period. Given that the Hyundai comes with a very good warranty it is discouraging and concerning that the dealer pushes hard on the extended warranty for a sizable sum of money; makes you wonder about the service aspects.

  • Engine Shake and Misses - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Worst choice in vehicle i could have made. The car has a shake and engine miss at idle that feels like it will fall out of the car. At idle when stopped at a light the engine has a lope and as you takeoff it shakes and vibrates until you take off. Dealer has blown off all my complaints but acknowledged they test it at idle it park, and they felt what i felt but it doesnt set a code in computer so they cant tell whats wrong. I guess im supposed to just live with it. Hyundai suggested i take it to another dealer which i can guess will go over real well.

  • 2013 Sonata GLS - 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Lots of interior room. AC cools quickly which is a must because of the hot Texas summers. Quiet and comfortable ride. Good gas mileage. Good trunk space.

  • Hyundai Navigation System - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

The navigation system SUCKS. You dont talk to a real person like you do with GM On Star. With Hyundai you talk to a machine and MOST of the time the STUPID machine cant understand what you say or can not find what you are looking for. I have to carry a portable GPS in the car when traveling because the Blue Star Navigation dont work Most of the time. For this reason, I most likely will buy another Hyundai. I will most likely buy a Chevy Malibu instead. With the Malibu On Star you actually talk to a real person when using the Navigation System, and they understand what you are asking for and can ALWAYS HELP you and find what you are looking for.
