This Year's Model Updates:

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata receives a minor shuffling of features among trim levels. Most notably, the base GLS model's manual transmission is no longer available, as a six-speed automatic is now standard throughout the lineup.

Pros:
  • Stylish and comfortable cabin
  • Lengthy warranty.
  • Lots of standard and optional features for the money
  • Top fuel economy
  • Strong acceleration
Cons:
  • Distinctive styling affects rear headroom
  • Rough ride in SE trim.

  • 2013 Sonata Bluetooth System - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

do not purchase this vehicle if you want a good working bluetooth system. Upon our third complaint I receive a letter from Hyundai saying, "it is considered normal operation for the incoming call volume to be quieter than the audio level setting and to adjust the volume on certain calls". That nice, except you cannot hear the incoming call. two other comments off their letter: We are sometimes unable to produce an automobile with the features and materials that will satisfy or appeal to all of our customers. If you prefer, you are more than welcome to contact the Highway Safety Association and report the concern to the Consumer Protection Agency.

  • steering problem! - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

when I first got the car I loved it. that was before I went on the highway. on the highway the car is dangerous!! not safe! steering is very sensitive and it is hard to keep the car in the lane. bad design and im very surprised that no one crushed this car on the highway yes and there is not a recall. after I discover the problem I called the sales person and she told me that it is normal, bc of the electric steering power...what kind of nonsenses is this? I drove Hondas for the last 15 years but fell in love with this car on the test drive and the price was great. so for now I will say. great city car and thats it!!

  • Nice Car, but Bad in the Snow - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I love this car, but Hyundai seems to have chosen wheels and tires that were not designed for winter driving. I bought the car in Green Bay late in May 2013. I live in Michigans Upper Peninsula. When I first started driving in the snow, I couldnt believe how poor the tire traction was. I was so bad that I didnt feel safe. After buying new all season tires (rated good on snow & ice) for the fronts, I could tell a big difference. The back original tires still would slide out on turns so I bought the rears too. Also, the wheels are beautiful, but they suck up snow like a magnet on the inside. It quickly will throw off the wheel balance. I constantly having to clean out the snow.

  • Gas Mileage not adding up - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

My main reason to buy a Hyundai Sonata was because I had the 2001 model that never gave me any real issues so to go to the latest model was a no brainier. However I am not that impressed with the engine technology. Considering that my 2001 sonata got around 24 mpg with a six cylinder engine. I thought that the 24c-35h that was on the sticker would be the way to go. I live in Fort Myers and sometimes have to drive to Ft Laud. I figured this would be a perfect test to check the gas mileage. I filled my car with premium gas and set the cruise control to 70 mph. Oh and also turned on the ECO control. Started the 110 mile test at 25.3 mph but finished at 23.9mpg. I lost mileage. That is not good.

  • Turbo fun. - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

For some reason I purchased a Turbo Sonota and wondered why since Im 65. But, since Ive been driving it Im finding it is really fun. Very smooth and powerful. I leave most folks in the dust. Ive had Elantras and Tucsons and this is a pocket rocket. I was spoiled by the Tuscons easy in and out because it is so high. But, Im adjusting to the lower Sonota. The regular Sonota was fast enough so you really dont need all this extra power but it sure is fun and not too hard on your wallet, gas wise. And. it really is easy on the eyes. My brother looks at it and says, man, thats one beautiful car.

  • I bought a great car - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I bought this car on May 31st and we cant be happier. The Hyundai dealer was very professional and a pleasure to work with. The Sonata offers very solid construction, great look, fun to drive, strong warranty, and fantastic gas mileage. Incredible value! We initially considered an Accord or Camry, but thankfully didnt waste our time.

  • Replaing tires after 20,000 miles? Ridiculous! - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

This is the second time we have leased Sonatas. Total of four cars. We had to relace the tires of all four cars in two years. This time the dealer told us we should be rotating the tires every 7000 miles. Thanks for the too little too late help. I am in my 50s my husband is in his 60s. We have owned a lot of cars over the years and the Sonata is the first and only car that required the tires to be rotated this much. Because, they are crappy tires. Moving on to another car manufacturer. We have been buying or leasing hyundais for the past 16 years (both of us). So done with them!

  • Extreme tire wear - 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Car is designed with tire lean that is not adjustable. Be prepared to buy new tires every 15,000 miles or listen to them thump as you drive down the road.

  • Great car for a teenager! - 2013 Hyundai Sonata

  • Not good on gas - 2013 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

The car is great . I rented an older Sonata and feel in love and decided to purchase my own. I live in NYC, which means if deals with heavy traffic. I average about 23mpg. I am really disappointed with that. Might as well get an SUV, with more space and use up the same amount of gas.
