Overview & Reviews
With new standard 15-inch alloy wheels, standard side airbags and some option changes, Hyundai's 2000 Sonata maintains the same base MSRP as last year.
- Excellent warranty, stylish sheet metal, lots of bang for your buck.
- Noisy four-cylinder engine, breathless V6 engine.

Great Value and Very dependable - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
By WWLJR - September 19 - 2:00 amI purchased my sonata in july of 00. I currently have 110,000 miles on the odometer. This has been the most reliable car I have owned to date. I would recommend this model if you are in the market.

Very Satisfied - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
By craig - August 27 - 2:00 amI have owned this vehicle for almost 4 years and have had zero problems. The only money I have spent on it has been routine maintenance. I enjoy driving it, and Hyundai (or my dealer) even covered fixing the heater fan even though it was broken because a mouse built a nest in it.

Pretty decent car, good value... - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
By owner in texas - August 26 - 2:00 amI am a satisfied Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 owner. Good value at purchase and also had a 0.9% APR in March 2000. Now about the car - seems well built, and there have been very few problems. It is now approaching 60,000 miles and I have only had to take it in to the dealer three times. Twice for recalls and once for a warranty issue related to the keyless entry and power windows. Runs well, feels solidly built, has decent power, reasonably quiet even at high speeds. Adaptive transmission drops the ball sometimes and shifts roughly, but otherwise there do not seem to be any engine or transmission problems yet. Front brakes replaced at 57,000 miles.

wheel barings - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
By jean ferguson - August 2 - 2:00 amIts been a good car for the money. However, with less than 25,ooo miles on the car, and not quite 3 years old, both back wheel barings had to be replaced. I treat this car with kid gloves. NO wear and tear. This would indicate a manufactoring problem. And a dangerous one at that. It is a good solid ride, and I enjoy the car. The Hyundai towing service is excellent. They picked up my car in a matter of minutes and towed it to the nearest dealership to be repaired. The towing, and work on the car were free.

dangerous car - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
By stefanie norton - July 6 - 2:00 amI liked my Sonata until it spontaneously caught fire for no reason!! The car was not even running, it was off!! I hope they find the problem and recall these cars. We were bringing it in for problems all the time. The warranty doesnt cover fire damage!! Dont get a Sonata, they catch on fire for no reasone!!

A GOOD AUTO - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
By PP - June 28 - 2:00 amGOOD RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION - EASY ON GAS - HVAC FLAWLESS - LEANS A BIT ON TIGHT CURVES - STYLING IS COMMENTED ON BY STRANGERS, THIS STYLE SEEMS TO BE PREFERRED BY FRIENDS RATHER THAN THE UPDATED STYLING THAT TENDS TO BE TOO SQUARE - -

1st new car - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
By newmom - March 12 - 2:00 amWhen we bought this car we wanted something more roomy than a compact yet still somewhat economical. We were impressed with the ride, handling and especially the warranty. The only regret (besides buying new) was selecting the 4cyl, 5 spd combo. While the manual is fun to drive, it gets old in town. The car has pep for a 4 cyl, but not quite enough to gamble with. The combination of the two proved almost deadly on one occasion. My advice to anybody buying a new Sonata, Get exactly what you want first time around because youll lose tons of money trying to trade it in. Maybe someday Hyundai will have a better trade in value. Its a good car to KEEP.

GLS V6 with leather is not a bad value - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
By bgg - March 9 - 2:00 amThe ride has seemed to have gotten firmer along with more wind noise since Ive had it. Bumps in the road are very evident. It was kind of loud in the cabin to begin with but its gotten worse as time goes by. Sometimes when its very cold, the windows wont roll down. They fog up constantly if its rainy, or snowy and/or cold. The heater MUST be set on just defrsoting the windshield or all the windows will fog up. Thats a real flaw. The only things Ive had to do is replace the "rear wheel" bearings and Ive had to replace both front headlights. The only thing its missing is a Moon Roof.
