Well. i got my hyundai sonata from this man who said he bought it from a lady who had it for years, APPARENTLY, she didnt take care of it. I end up getting spark plugs, diff. fuel lines, fuel pump, catalytic converter and many tires. Paint is fading. Transmission is slipping. got my bushings & tie rod replaced on the passenger side, JUST A LOT. luckily i didnt have to pay for anything but the fuel pump (: STILL A LOT OF WORK. Im ready to switch cars.

  • waste money for a 35k miles 2000 sedan - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I bought this car from a first owner, then I lost the 100k miles warranty. Rear wheel bearing, left front shaft, oxygen sensor, mass air flow sensor, tps sensor, front disc breakes worn out at 45k miles too much money to spend for a 70k miles car. Speed transmision sensor dealer said $500 plus 105 diagnostic fee. Crazy waste money. I drove this car by 20k miles and I have been spended at least 1500 dollars in parts and labor. So the fabricants are supposed to put some recalls for this car. The people who knows about cars doesnt recomend me Hyundai or kia any more. I dont understand how a company advertise 100k miles warranty for this car.

  • 2000 Hyundai Sonota sub frame rot - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I bought this car with 11000 miles on it. Overall it has been pretty reliable until about 75000 miles I have had to replace all the wheel bearings. Now at 86000 miles the sub-frame is rotted from the inside out. This is the first time I have ever seen a sub frame rot on a vehicle less than 14 years old. It is a shame that Hyundai will build a car that the sub frame rots from the inside out. This is very dangerous and costly to repair.

  • Never ending problem car - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Unfortunately, I bought the cae used, so I didnt get the 100,000 mile warranty. At 50,000 miles drivers window mechanism went. I have since replaced all wheel bearings once and now a second on the rear, after only 25000 miles. There were no lugnuts for the spare donut tire. The capped lugnuts wont work. now at 100,000+ miles the car is always in the shop for various transmission and engine sensors. I have driven cars almost 200000 miles and never have replaced wheel bearings. This model should have been on a recall list. While the car drives and handles well, mechanically it is a piece of junk. The government should not allow vehicles like this into the country.

  • Warranty Issues - 2000 Hyundai Sonata

Please who ever may read this. Be extreamly Cautious to the Warranty in which Hyundai offeres. Beware that THEY chose whether to honnor the Warranty!!! I have less than 80,000 miles on my car and the engine blew. Ive have had to Hire a Attorney due to Hyundai refusing to Honoring the Power Train Warranty. I maintained my car and have all the reciepts. But that did not matter in regards to Corp. Hyundai when it came to honorring the Waranty I have read other complaints online. You might want to check out Hyundai before you even purchase one!!!

  • dangerous car - 2000 Hyundai Sonata

I liked my Sonata until it spontaneously caught fire for no reason!! The car was not even running, it was off!! I hope they find the problem and recall these cars. We were bringing it in for problems all the time. The warranty doesnt cover fire damage!! Dont get a Sonata, they catch on fire for no reasone!!

  • Twice is to much - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

Transmission went at 78,000. The 2nd Hyundai Transmission to go. Have a 96 Accent & also lost a transmission after the 60,000 mile warranty. Just $2000. The last time and especially from this dealer. They could care less about your business. You might as well drive it until it croaks. You could not get a decent trade on a Hyundai if your life depended on it. Most dont even want a used Hyundai on their lot. Give it away or drive it until it drops.
