  • My very last Honda or Odyssey - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I was one of the first in America to take delivery on my 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite. The dealership had not even been trained on the whole new technology system so i still have no idea to work most of the functions on the computer. I told the general manager of the dealership to have someone at Honda contact me, so I could set up a private education session for my wife and I. That has not happened and it has been over a month and a half. 2 weeks ago my 12 year old son grabbed the front grab handle and it came off in his hand as he fell to the ground. Lots of rattles and noises that our 2 previous Honda Odysseys never had. Now the "biggie" A week ago the rear passenger door window stopped working. Brought it to my local dealership who looked at it and said it was probably the motor. We made an appointment for Monday July 17, 2018 at my local dealership to have the window fixed. Today i was told by my dealership to come pick up my van and that the window was not fixed!!??? They told me that Honda USA is well aware of a problem with the rear windows on these new 2018 Odysseys and that parts are on backorder and Honda has "no idea" when the parts will be available!! So I wasted two days of my wife and my time to get my broken van back that is still broken. This new Odyssey has less than 2,000 miles on it...and if we could bring it back for a full refund we would run not walk. This van is a piece of $%&(

  • A good Minivan - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I owned the 2006 Honda Odyssey. I love the 2006 compared to the 2018. There are several minor inconveniences but there are several good enhancements too. The second row sliding doors are bit slow. The remote needs to be pressed hard for any operation (open/close doors). The position of the auto-lights etc. are not at the best position. The indoor lighting is not very good. Road sounds etc. are negligible.

  • Disappointed with my 2018 Honda Odyssey - 2018 Honda Odyssey

I had a 2005 Honda Odyssey for 12 years with over 200K miles on it. I loved my Odyssey as I didnt have any major problems with it until the end of its useful life. So naturally I thought my best option for my new vehicle was to get another Odyssey. In June, I decided on the 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite, top of the line. Before my first oil change I noticed so many issues. I never had that problem with my first Odyssey. One major issue is my GPS system. It has given me the wrong directions several times. I brought it to the attention of the dealership when I got my first oil change. They said they could not duplicate the problem. They only drove it around the block. I told them that I had specific addresses to prove it to them. I called American Honda Care. They suggested I video tape some examples. So I did that and e-mailed them to my Honda dealer. They are still telling me that they would need to duplicate the problem. They can easily do that by driving to the locations. But they arent allowed to drive more than a couple of miles away. I told them it is not very likely they would be able to duplicate it at the dealership. They can see in the videos that the directions are telling me to turn right when the destination is visibly on the left. Another issue I had recently was that I pulled into my driveway, push the button to turn off the radio and then proceeded to get out of my van. I noticed my radio hadnt turned off. So I pushed the button again. The screen said Audio Off. But my radio was still on. I couldnt even turn it up or down. Even when I opened my car door it would not turn off. I decided to videotape that situation as well. I called Honda Roadside assistance as it was night time and the dealership was closed. They could not help me. After about 15 minutes the radio finally turned off on its own. I didnt want to go into the house with the radio still on as it could have drained my battery over night. Another issue is that my Apple CarPlay does not work well. Honda told me the problem could be that I am using an after market USB cord from Verizon. I told them when I bought my Honda I still had my original Apple USB cord and I had the same problems. The screen will say that my CarPlay isnt connected even when it is. I have to keep putting the USB cord in and take it out for it to work. Most of the time I dont have the functionality to do a voice text or have the system read me a text. I have had to reset PBS for my daughter a couple of times already. The van is loud for a new van. My 2005 wasnt even that loud after 12 years. For the money I paid for the van I dont expect to hear it at all. The last time I called Honda I was told they are waiting for other reports of the issues and recall information from Honda. My report and videos should be enough to at least get my van repaired while it is still under warranty. My van is only a few months old. I should not have these issues. Other issues that dont happen all the time is that the hands free rear door process doesnt work all the time. I watched the YouTube video on how it is supposed to work and I do that each time. It is faster for me to unlock it with my remote. My right side blind spot indicator doesnt always work either. Several times cars will pass by and the light will not come on. That is another issue Honda couldnt duplicate. These things dont happen all the time. Another issue I had while driving home one day was that my radio/GPS panel completely shut off and went blank while I was driving. it came back on before I got home. I have no idea what happened. I was driving. So I couldnt investigate anything. My A/C doesnt work as well as it did on my 2005 model. On my 2018 in order to cool my van down I have to put it on Lo and turn the fan up full blast. In my 2005 Odyssey if it was 100 degrees outside I could put it on 72 and feel cool inside. If you are having problems as well, please let Honda know. They told me they didnt have any reports of complaints. But I have seen a couple on here with different issues.

  • Power sliding door not opened - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I owned this minivan for 5 months so far and Im not satisfied with the reliability. First I need to point out that this car is made in USA. So I will except some little issue will happen but it is too soon to my expectation. I have a 1999 Honda Accord and never had any issue, only replaced one light bulb and turning bulb (regular maintain not included) for 18 year of ownership. So for this 2018 Honda Odyssey, I have a couple issue so far: 1. Passenger power sliding door just not opening yesterday, I can hear the motor is trying to open the door but cant. I tried everything such pullin the outside handle, remote control, inside button and driver side main control button. No succeed. 2. Auto shut off idling function is not working most of the time, when I activate it, do nothing, engine not auto shut off. 3. The motion sensor from the tail door is not working most of the time, I followed the video from you tube and I can only open it 2 times so far. (Lol) 4. Driver power sliding door sound weird now, hopefully it wont break.

  • Amazing little features !!! - 2018 Honda Odyssey

This is a nice vehicle so far. We have only owned it for a week now, but we did experience a problem with the cabin watch and rear entertainment once. Plus, on the cabin talk the Touring can only talk over the headphones. The Elite can talk over the headphones and speakers. These vans are pricey though.

  • Great for the Heat...not for the cold. - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We bought the 2018 Honda Odyssey to replace our 2006 Toyota Sienna. So alot has happened technologically so that was something getting used to. Although I still am mourning the loss of the CD player...but we will have to find a way. The controls for the temperatures are another story...I dont mind that things are touch-screen, but some things just can be reached without taking off the gloves...and when the windchill is -20 degree outside, its pretty tough. PLUS we spent an entire 8 hour drive from Chicago to Cleveland trying to figure out how to get the defrost/defogger to work properly. We ended up with windows that were frosted ON THE INSIDE of the car because we couldnt figure out the proper settings. All in all the van is good. Just the temperature controls have issues. In terms, of interior storage...we found that the back seats dont lie completely flat. There are bumps and ridges on the seats that would not allow you to lay something down. For example...if I wanted to sleep in the back of the van while camping, it would be very hard because the molding on the seats would make it near impossible to only have a sleeping bag. You would need a mattress to cover up the plastic on the backs of the seats.

  • Rear Entertainment System FAIL! - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I bought the 2018 to replace a 2006 Odyssey. I am normally impressed with Hondas quality. However, I would not recommend buying this car if you have a family. We bought it specifically for family road trips. The Rear Entertainment System failed within a month. This made the 4 hour road trip for the solar eclipse painful!! Took it back to the dealer, they said Honda knows about the problem, but there is no fix right now. Until this is fixed, do not buy this vehicle if you have young kids. Unless you want to pay additional money for an after market DVD player.

  • Very disappointed! 2nd time owner - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

This is my 2nd Odyssey purchase of a brand new vehicle. I owned a 2012 from new until this year without a single problem. We decided to switch to the 2018 this year after seeing all of the fun new features. I regret that every time I drive this van! 1- the blu ray does not play blu ray movies. It will play previews and gets stuck on the main menu and never start the movie. Regular dvds also glitch. The player will get stuck on the main screen with a regular disc and wont play the movie until we push stop then play again. There are times it wont work at all and we have had to pull off the highway to stop the van and restart it multiple times before the dvd player would even work. 2- The auto stop feature hasnt worked 90% of the 7 months weve owned this van. It worked after we made a trip last month, but stopped again and hasnt worked since. 3- The foot to open the tailgate hasnt worked the last several times Ive tried to use it. It hardly works. 4- The camera for the back seats keeps freezing, and sometimes it doesnt work. 5- The gps is great when the features work. The "traffic ahead" feature has only worked a couple of times. 6- The internet is through AT&T, and we hardly used it during the trial period, but they claimed we used up the data allotted. We watched one hour long show that whole time. GMC has it straight using OnStar internet! 7- The object detection has almost caused me to crash a couple of times. It slammed my brakes to a grind in the middle of a busy intersection because the car in front of me was turning slowly as I passed it. 8- The auto bright lights is annoying. It turns my brights on when cars are still around and I wouldnt be using them. I read in the features that the sliding door buttons would not freeze each other and stop the door if they bit get pushed, but the doors freeze if my son and I push the buttons any time close to each other. I miss my 2012! Everything worked great on that van! Ive never experienced so many glitches with a brand new car as I have with this one! Weve bought 5 new cars in the last 5 years too! The Honda dealership just told us that wed have an update soon to fix the dvd player. That was 2 months ago. Im so disappointed! Its a beautiful van, but nothing works like its supposed to.
