  • Junior styling for a mature vehicle - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Honda has been able to maintain their sale figure but my feeling is it could have been much better. What are they thinking with their styling. It is ugly, disjointed, disorganized (the top crease line end up in nowhere in the rear quarter panel. It should have joined with the crease on the rear quarter panel over the fuel filler door). I feel offended because they dont seem to treat their Odyssey customers too seriously. This is like putting an experiment, a design exercise into a mature segment. If the designers were serious then they would give this design to the Acure line too. I dare them to see what kind of effect this would have on the sale figure of their Acura line! I am owning a 2001 Odyssey and love the design up until 2010 model. The lightning bolt was bad but somewhat tolerable but the 2018 is the worst. The placement of their vents in the second and third rows also killed the deal. I am holding back on my minivan replacement for a couple more years to see if Honda is getting serious about making a sensible design again; otherwise Toyota here I come.

  • Uncomfortable seats - 2018 Honda Odyssey

Very close to purchasing the 2018 Honda Odyssey but opted for the Sienna instead. Generally, I like the latest tech (Odyssey has Apple Play but Sienna does not) ... interestingly however, I actually prefer the knob transmission handle (and round A/C knob) on the Sienna instead of the transmission buttons on the 2018 Odyssey. One of our best friends bought the 2018 Odyssey EX-L and loves it (although GPS didnt work properly to get the right destination). I was disappointed that the 2018 Odyssey A/C vents for the 2nd/3rd row seats are on the side of the vehicle (bad for hot weather days) instead of the ceiling like the Sienna. Nevertheless, I still would have purchased the 2018 Odyssey but the one thing that killed the purchase were the UNCOMFORTABLE seats. I was willing to upgrade (spend more) getting the Elite because it had perforated seats in the 1st/2nd rows which offers a bit more cushion but still nowhere as comfortable as the Sienna seating. I sat in the 2nd row of my best friends 2018 Odyssey EX-L during a ride ... and seating felt so uncomfortable (too hard) that I actually disliked the whole ride experience - it seems to be a bit more noisy than the Sienna ride too. In all fairness, the Elite does have ventilated seats as standard in the front seats which the Sienna does not have.

  • Good looking van! But did not meet my expectation! - 2018 Honda Odyssey

    1. Driver seat always go back to the original position when engine is turned off-and come back to the memory position when engine start on next time. I think this is a unnecessary move what consume the space in the back-in front (where there is limited space already and block by handle) of 2nd row seat when you need it to get off/on the kids. 2. There is no storage by the 3rd row seats. 3. Need a lot of pressure to accelerate. 4. Overall height of the vehicle is also not comfortable enough to access the 3rd.

  • Test Drove 2018 Odyssey - major issue with AC - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We waited over 7 months to finally purchase a Honda Touring 2018. Went to dealership and it only had an Elite in stock. So, we finally got around to test driving it. Here are the results: Pros - Magic Seat (awesome!), performance - good, brakes - good, navigation system - good (thought there would be a glare; however, it was minimal), cabin watch - good, remote engine start (thank god) - great! Cons - OMG, they screwed up the Air Conditioning. The front seat is okay. However, I would feel very sorry for anyone sitting in the third row. It just blows air (and not even cold). Also, the vent is on the bottom side. If anyone push the seat back, it gets partially cover. Forget the person sitting in the middle - no air at all. And, the second seat is almost the same. Unbelievable mistake. We live in Las Vegas and it can get up to 115 degrees during the summer. I sat in the car for 20 minutes, had the fan blowing high with the AC set to the lowest setting, and still, it was uncomfortable in the back seats. I even got the sales guy to finally admit that he was not comfortable with it. This is not acceptable in Las Vegas. As a result, we decided to hold off on this purchase. Hopefully, they have this fix in 2019. Unreal!!

  • Power sliding door not opened - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I owned this minivan for 5 months so far and Im not satisfied with the reliability. First I need to point out that this car is made in USA. So I will except some little issue will happen but it is too soon to my expectation. I have a 1999 Honda Accord and never had any issue, only replaced one light bulb and turning bulb (regular maintain not included) for 18 year of ownership. So for this 2018 Honda Odyssey, I have a couple issue so far: 1. Passenger power sliding door just not opening yesterday, I can hear the motor is trying to open the door but cant. I tried everything such pullin the outside handle, remote control, inside button and driver side main control button. No succeed. 2. Auto shut off idling function is not working most of the time, when I activate it, do nothing, engine not auto shut off. 3. The motion sensor from the tail door is not working most of the time, I followed the video from you tube and I can only open it 2 times so far. (Lol) 4. Driver power sliding door sound weird now, hopefully it wont break.

  • Rear Entertainment System FAIL! - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I bought the 2018 to replace a 2006 Odyssey. I am normally impressed with Hondas quality. However, I would not recommend buying this car if you have a family. We bought it specifically for family road trips. The Rear Entertainment System failed within a month. This made the 4 hour road trip for the solar eclipse painful!! Took it back to the dealer, they said Honda knows about the problem, but there is no fix right now. Until this is fixed, do not buy this vehicle if you have young kids. Unless you want to pay additional money for an after market DVD player.

  • Pretty Disappointed with Quality Decline of Honda - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We replaced my wifes 2016 Honda Odyssey Touring a few months back for the all new 2018 Elite. We were having Transmission Issues at only 21K miles with the 16 and upon reading several online reviews and forums, found this to be more common than it should be. We initially picked up a new 18 EX-L as the options were pretty similar to our Touring and immediately started having issues with a couple of rattles that the dealer could not pinpoint after keeping the car for a week. Being that we only had it in our possession for 1 full day the dealer agreed to let me swap it for the Elite. Fortunately the rattles have not been an issue, but now we have a new problem. There is a rather severe popping from the front end when turning under power (i.e. into a parking spot, parking in driveway). We took it back to the dealer where they kept it for a week to replace the entire front/left strut assembly and coil. Picked it up and less than 30 minutes later when backing out of a parking spot and turning we heard the pop again. Its done this several times since and we are planning to take back to the shop once more. Also as other reviews have pointed out, the placement of the rear a/c vents is horrible if you have children in car seats. I cant believe Honda wouldnt think about this issue before removing the vents from the roof. Other than these problems, the new Odyssey drives great, is quiet and gets better mileage. The new electronics are a huge improvement as well. We love driving the new Odyssey, just very disappointed with the quality of our $47K van.
