  • Go for Touring - 2018 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We bought 2018 Honda Odyssey Touring as we are ready to welcome our first child! After reading the review by one of the owner that EX-L drive is noisy I compared both EXL and Touring and really agree with her that I found Touring quieter and much better drive! If you want better drive and can spend few thousands more go for Touring or all the way to Elite if you want cooling/AC for front seats. So far we are enjoying the ride and safety features (Honda Sensing) that comes with it. We faced Bluetooth, remote starter issues that were fixed by dealer. They said it was some system issue. Wish you the best in your family car hunt! I do recommend Honda Odyssey but higher trim if you want better and quieter drive!

  • Jurys still out... - 2018 Honda Odyssey

Love the looks, for a mini-van, of course, for the new design. The comfort is there for the most part. For a $45k car, however, they could have done a better job in terms of craftsmanship... I am not referring only to the materials, but in the putting-it-together sense. Also, the rear camera is the cheapest one Ive seen... they put magnesium in this thing, but decided to skip on a good quality rear camera? Why, Honda? Why? Even if it jacked up the price by couple of hundred bucks, that would have been better than the cheapO rear view camera you chose; shame. Oh and the other thing, the rattling in the panels is starting to creep up (had it on a new 2016 Prius, too, so I guess this is the new new with new cars.) The jurys still out, so well see how it goes. As another industry review pundit stated, wait a bit before jumping on a newly redesigned vehicle.

  • Very good van, but - 2018 Honda Odyssey

Have owned a new 2018 EX-L for two weeks. Very quiet interior. Instrumentation has a learning curve and I must be slow. No compass at all. Major mistake by Honda. With 9 gears it shifts a lot and Im still not use to that. Turned off the adaptive cruise control and now just use regular cruise control. ACC keeps slowing you down and prevents flowing with the traffic. The steering wheel vibration on the lane departure takes some getting used to, but a very nice safety feature. A very solid van with a great ride. And my wife loves it so all is good.

  • A good Minivan - 2018 Honda Odyssey

I owned the 2006 Honda Odyssey. I love the 2006 compared to the 2018. There are several minor inconveniences but there are several good enhancements too. The second row sliding doors are bit slow. The remote needs to be pressed hard for any operation (open/close doors). The position of the auto-lights etc. are not at the best position. The indoor lighting is not very good. Road sounds etc. are negligible.

  • Amazing little features !!! - 2018 Honda Odyssey

This is a nice vehicle so far. We have only owned it for a week now, but we did experience a problem with the cabin watch and rear entertainment once. Plus, on the cabin talk the Touring can only talk over the headphones. The Elite can talk over the headphones and speakers. These vans are pricey though.

  • Great for the Heat...not for the cold. - 2018 Honda Odyssey

We bought the 2018 Honda Odyssey to replace our 2006 Toyota Sienna. So alot has happened technologically so that was something getting used to. Although I still am mourning the loss of the CD player...but we will have to find a way. The controls for the temperatures are another story...I dont mind that things are touch-screen, but some things just can be reached without taking off the gloves...and when the windchill is -20 degree outside, its pretty tough. PLUS we spent an entire 8 hour drive from Chicago to Cleveland trying to figure out how to get the defrost/defogger to work properly. We ended up with windows that were frosted ON THE INSIDE of the car because we couldnt figure out the proper settings. All in all the van is good. Just the temperature controls have issues. In terms, of interior storage...we found that the back seats dont lie completely flat. There are bumps and ridges on the seats that would not allow you to lay something down. For example...if I wanted to sleep in the back of the van while camping, it would be very hard because the molding on the seats would make it near impossible to only have a sleeping bag. You would need a mattress to cover up the plastic on the backs of the seats.

  • Much improved from prior models - 2018 Honda Odyssey

Got about 3200 miles on a new 18 model. We got the first one off the truck here locally, the EX-L model with Tech and Nav. We put 100K miles on the same 2011 model. So here is my assessment so far on differences and pros and cons. This is primarily a daily driver for my wife, but I tend to drive on the long family trips. I am 61" 200 lbs and find this van is much roomier than the older models. I would say another 4" or so in legroom, much more head and shoulder room too. I can nearly straighten my left leg in the new van. The arm rests are bit wider as well. You can put the seat back farther as well. The touch screen technology is so much better than the older van. It is in HD color, easy to use, tons of options on it. Fuel efficiency is much better. We just drove a 6 hour trip, full load with 5 people and got over 29 MPG. The van is running 4-5 MPG better on both highway and around town than the older model. Also, the ride is much much quieter, this is very noticeable. The engine puts out a bit more acceleration as well when needed. I also like the fog lights standard on this model, not so on the older ones. The middle seats can tilt back some which the kids like on long trips. The blind spot monitor and other safety features like shin airbags are other nice add ons. Overall, the van looks better, definitely seems like they lengthened it maybe another 6", its roomier for sure. Electric start is nice, also the shifters are now buttons which take some getting used to but work pretty well. The kids like the extra plugs, USB, etc. The rear tailgate goes up higher if needed which I like as I used to hit my head on the old one. As far as Cons, the 9 speed transmission can be a bit shifty and low speeds. Again, this just takes some getting used to. Also, all the safety features like lane monitoring, cruise control, etc. are very unique from what I am used to and take some reading up on. Basically, if the van moves out of the lane and hits the lines, it will lightly vibrate and correct back into the lane. On a tight road, this can get annoying. Also, when cruise control is on, if you approach a car in front of you, it will automatically slow down. A bit annoying as you may just prefer to change lanes without adjusting speed. Just some little nuances. Overall, been happy with the purchase. Van is quiet, more comfortable, looks more appealing, gets good fuel efficiency, has more room, and has Honda safety and reliability. We had to pay sticker but got a good trade and got color combos we wanted.
