This Year's Model Updates:

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Pros:
  • Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.
Cons:

  • Happy Customer - 2004 Honda Accord

I bought this car while in college at 40,000 miles and it is currently at 105,000. It has gotten me through career changes (1400 miles away from home) and the only major issues were the air conditioner capacitor blew (nothing blew out of vents), rotor problems, and major road noise (which is my least fav part) but other than that I love driving with my sunroof down and knowing my ride wont die!

  • No Faith in Honda anymore - 2004 Honda Accord

I have lost faith in the Honda product and the companies willingness to stand behind their name. I have had over 7,000 dollars of repairs that were not covered by warranty. Power steering pump, starter, transmission, stereo, etc.etc.. The transmission going out at 82,000 miles was the last straw. I drove so easy on this car that the tires lasted 81,000 miles and I still havent replaced the brakes but the transmission failed? Go figure.

  • Low cost and Lovin it. - 2004 Honda Accord

I bought this car used in 2006. Since then, other than usual maintenance cost of tires, brakes, oil changes, etc. I spent about $85 to replace a gasket. After driving a Subaru and a Chevy where costs started within the first year of ownership, and became excessive quickly, I will never buy anything but Honda again. I love, love love this car.

  • Reasonably good car, not a fun ride - 2004 Honda Accord

Purchased new in 2004. Its a good all around car at a good price when new, but it doesnt really excel at anything. V6 is sort of fast, but the transmission is weak (just replaced at 75k) and handling is only average (stock suspension and tire size). Considering the lack of handling, it still rides very rough over cracked pavement has some rattles inside and out. Leather seats are fairly low grade. Carpets and roof liner had some minor defects when new, couldnt be fixed. Stereo is only average at best and was recalled and replaced. Ive had a few other minor repairs and the break pads wear quickly. If buying used, look for one with the transmission and stereo already replaced.

  • Reliability? - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought this car largely because of perceived perceptions on Hondas reliability. Just after 36,000 miles, my radio console lost power. I took it back to the dealership and fortunately Honda payed full cost for the repair because other Hondas were had the same problem. At 91,629 miles my transmission failed without warning. I called Honda corporate to complain, and was given a case no. Took it to the dealership and Honda agreed to pay for half the cost to replace the transmission which was $1725. Honda provided a new 3 year/36000 mile warranty. I am very glad Honda helped with these problems, but these are not problems I would expect from a Honda.

  • Best car ever owned - 2004 Honda Accord

Best car I have ever owned. As near perfect as can get. I like the body style better on this car better than the newer body styles. If we take a trip its in this car. I buy the best tires and batteries when I replace them. Easy access to the cabin air filter behind the glove box. Takes me 3 to 5 min to change out once a year.

  • Its been fun - 2004 Honda Accord

Overall my car has served me well over the course of 52K miles in 5 or so years. I only had to get new tires (with alignment), 4 new brake pads, and regular oil changes (Free of charge because of promo). My ride is well excellent with only me in the car, but when it comes to 4, the car becomes a little soggy. Overall, its been an honor owning my accord.

I bought this car new and have had it for 5 years now and mainly do city commuting. I love my car---feel like I am sitting in a cockpit when flying down the freeway. Car has startling zip when punching the gas pedal can easily overtake on freeway. Routine maintenance is all I have had to do on this car. I rarely use the back seats. Great trunk space. I can easily shop Costco and Lowes and have carried home 6+ lumber by flipping down seats. My dad calls it my "origami car".

  • Very Reliable Vehicle - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

I just bought a Used 2004 Honda Accord EX V6 with a good price. It has about 72k miles but its body condition and driving condition is like new. Since its V6 it is equipped with 240Hp which runs fast on a easy acceleration. Its performance both in high way and city is excellent. It has good Fuel Economy for a V6 midsize sedan. The interior is roomy and provide good safety features like front and side curtain air bags. I feel happy and safe when im behind this Accord. Even though i didnt bought it when it was new. But overall, its very reliable car anybody could depend on.
