This Year's Model Updates:

As the model was fully redesigned for the 2003 model year, there are only a few changes on the 2004 Honda Accord. Availability of side curtain airbags has been expanded this year to four-cylinder EX models -- standard on those with leather, optional on cars with a cloth interior. All four- and six-cylinder EX models equipped with a leather interior now have XM Satellite Radio with three months of free service as standard equipment. And as with all Honda cars this year, a new seatbelt reminder system is standard. Accord models meeting California's stringent Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) standards -- all four-cylinder sedans equipped with automatic transmission -- will also be sold in the states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Pros:
  • Tight build quality, quiet cabin, refined and powerful engines, reputation for quality and durability, high crash test scores.
Cons:

  • Honda Corp a.k.a rip off kings - 2004 Honda Accord

Read these reviews and you see Honda is not the reliability car we were lead to believe. I purchased this money pit new because I drive for work and wanted a car that would last and not nickel and dime me down the road. Wow did I pick the wrong car! The transmission had a recall and I took it in at 18K. They checked it out and install a oil kit. At 48k dropped out and Honda would not cover the labor of $700. They did replace the radio that failed around the same time. Since then the power steering motor, master cylinder, radiator and struts all have failed and needed replacing for a total of over $2,500 not including the transmission. NEVER BUY A HONDA!

  • V-6 Accord Ride Comfort - 2004 Honda Accord

Although I do not like the exterior design, the interiors are well appointed -- and to me, luxurious. Handling is satisfactory; but the comfort of ride is by far the worst of all cars that I have owned -- one feels every bump and road defect at both high and low speeds. I keep thinking that something is terribly wrong with this car, rated so highly by critics. This is our first Honda; and it has been a disappointment because of its ride. Obviously, Honda has not solved the problem of a bigger engine (V-6) with front wheel drive and its current suspension system.

  • I have owned a few......... - 2004 Honda Accord

But this is not the quality of a Honda that I have known. The car itself is a nice looking car, otherwise, it is a nightmare. Terrible in snow, battery dies after 15 minutes, Gas mileage is approximately 12 MPG. Just an awful car. Honda, PLEASE TAKE THIS BACK!!!

  • TERRIBLE SEATS - 2004 Honda Accord

This car is nice looking and has a lot of nice features, but comfort is NOT one of them. The seats are hard as a rock and we cannot endure trips longer than one hour. This car stinks. Its totally worthless on a trip. If you intend to buy a new Honda you had better test drive it for at least 2 hours. We really regret buying this vehicle. It is our first, and LAST, new Honda. This is not a quality car - its a $23,000 boat anchor. If you want to buy a quality Japanese car, look at Toyota or Nissan. Toyota has a better warranty, and has rebates. Honda sales are declining. Now we know why. We screwed up. Dont you screw up too. You have been forewarned.

  • Buzzard Bones Ride - 2004 Honda Accord

The driver seat slips out of place every day. Honda says there is nothing wrong. The passenger side airbag was replaced and then all of the front dash and headliner started rattling. It sounds like the windshield is creaking. The passenger front and rear door and windows are also rattling and buzzing. The seats have several defects with the upholstery losing its "fuzz" and going bald or forming strange creases where nobody even occupied the space. This is a very disappointing car - not to mention the strange whine coming from the engine area.

  • Honda doesnt honor its warranties - 2004 Honda Accord

Loud noise when on idle and when you are stopped on the drive shift (roaring noise, close to a diesel engine) and that since the first 500 miles. The front windshield has stress points, causing it to crack, they didnt honor it, were rude and arrogant. Early on the breaks were making noise, they were aware of the defect but refused to fix it under the warranty. Another break problem(I use original Honda break pads) every 10,000 miles screeching sounds starts and vibrating movements occurs when applying the breaks; the rotors gets wavy surface and needs resurfacing every time the break pads are changed and goes bad shortly after.

  • Dont Buy American,Honda that is. - 2004 Honda Accord

This car has been a huge disappointment. I think that the quality is VERY poor compared to my 1991 accord. Already the road noise in this 2004 is louder than my 15 year old car. With only 8000 miles on it, Honda has had to replace the cylinder head. The mileage is worse than my 1991 vehicle which had the same number of cylinders and less plastic than the 2004. Does not say much for the engineering. Honda engines made in America do not seem reliable at all. Next for them to fix is the heater and A/C. Oh well, live and learn.

  • 2004 BAD DISAPPOINTMENT - 2004 Honda Accord

I HAD 3 HONDAS BEFORE AND THE 2004 IS MY LAST ONE REAL BAD CAR TO DRIVE YOU CANT EVEN PUT PEOPLE IN THE BACK CAUSE YOU FEEL EVERY BUMP AND FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE A FLAT TIRE. IT FAILED ON ME TWO TIMES TO START. BUT THE MAIN THING IS THAT WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS YOU HEAR A BIG NOSIE LIKE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION THE SAME THING THE 2003 HAD AND IT WAS RECALL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM THESE THINGS WAS HAPPENING AND THEY TOLD ME THATS THE WAY THE CAR WAS BUILD AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS P.S. HONDA THE FRIST CAR WAS HIT IN THE BACK THEN THE SECOND CAR THEY MISPLACED KEYS AND HAD NO INSP. HAD WENT THERE THREE TIMES TO PICK UP MY CAR AND GOT A BAD ONE

  • My big mistake (worth $22,000) - 2004 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought this car 3 months ago and the car is being in shop for past 10 weeks. My first problem was when i turn on the car it will make big abnormal noice in the hood. Dealership fixed it after 4 days (i waited 2 weeks to get to honda repair shop). My next problem was transmission. It will make big pushes at around 30 miles per hour (switch to second gear). again i had to wait 2 weeks to get appointment to repair shop. The other problem I had was steering wheel would not turn smoothly but will turn with bumps and makes big noice when turn left or right. It was also discovered that steering wheel fluid was leaking. I dont mention small problems.
