This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • Bad transmission - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

I have had the Honda Accord 3.0 L V6 sedan for 9 years and I drive it only to work with a mileage of 90,000. The transmission failed but otherwise it looks like brand new with regular maintenance. Fixing the transmission costs $4,100 at the dealers and after 7 years is no longer covered by warranty. I though that I bought a reliable car that will drive up to 150,000 miles but not so! I will never ever buy Honda again.

  • Middle Aged but Still Rocks - 2001 Honda Accord

The car had some problems with the air bag sensor which required to be replaced by the dealership [under warranty]. With a few upgrades, new shocks and struts + some after market 18 inch alloy rims and handling has greatly improved. [~$2500 for entire package]. With a few interior upgrades such a new MP3 compatible stereo and GPS, completes the picture.

  • Transmission? - 2001 Honda Accord

This was my first Honda and my last. The transmission is shot and come to find out, this is a known issue for Honda. However. And beware. They will not assist in repairing the transmission if you are one day or one mile over the warranty. They knew the transmission was faulty and still used it for several years. The issue is not that a manufacturer has a defective product, but rather, that the manufacturer knowingly sold a product that had the distinct potential of failing and will not back up their product. I dont care how many great reviews Honda gets or has gotten. They have proved to me to be an unreliable company with which to deal. Stay away from all Honda!

  • honda ex v6 sedan 3.0 - 2001 Honda Accord

I bought this car in August 2004. It had 30,000 miles. Since owned it has been a great vehicle. Very comfortable on long trips. Very roomy inside. Nice big trunk for grocery shopping. Overall couldnt be happier to own such a strong and dependable car. Get one and you will be very pleased on how well this vehicle drives. It now has 146,000 and never any problems.

  • Cant Go Wrong - 2001 Honda Accord

In the last 19 years I have owned 2 cars, a Honda civic and now a Honda Accord. Between the two of them I have replaced the tires and the exhaust on the Civic--that is it! For dependable, well made cars you cant go wrong. The size of the sedan is good. Good trunk size, good passenger size, nice feel, vision and little things like cup holder, glove box etc. Dash is easy to read, all controls are placed sensibly. I dont drive a lot but the car is comfortable and good on gas.

  • Good but not great - 2001 Honda Accord

Its been very reliable but the threat of transmission failure hanging over my head has always annoyed me. I change the ATF every 20K. I bought a Honda for reliability and not to think about the poorly designed A/T. MPG is only OK for a 4 cylinder. Im not crazy about Hondas insistence on using only genuine Honda fluids. The A/Chas never been freezing cold like some other cars Ive owned. Despite all my complaining it has been a good car. Its just that when you buy a Honda you expect so much. I feel the motor will do 200K but the tranny wont. Id buy a Ford Fusion next.

  • Excellent Car to Own - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

I have always owned "foreign" cars--this Honda is second only to a 1996 Mazda 626 that I literally drove until it died. The Accord is super comfortable, the V6 is surprisingly fast with a LOT of get-up-and-go, and is as reliable as the sunrise. This car, despite being driven on average over 24,000 miles a year, has NEVER EVER broken down on us--all we have had to do is change the oil, fluid, belts (as called for at 60,000ish miles), and filters and keep gas in it! Speaking of gas, for a car with as much pep as this one, the gas mileage can not be beat! Best vehicle investment you can make!

  • Very sataified customer - 2001 Honda Accord

Owned since new and with 196k miles have only done routine maintenance. Replaced a 1987 Legend with 265k miles just wanted new parts but in ran fine when I sold it. I stay on top of all maintenance items and have replaced the timing belt and alternator but no tranny failure .. always change fluid ever 50k. At nearly 200k the car is still "tight" with no rattles and handles like a sports car rather than a sedan. Cant wait to get my next new one but since its only about 1/2 thru its life it will be a few years. Its not for sale but if it were I hear the resale is very good. I never miss an oil change or other filter changes Im sure this makes a difference on a Honda or any other.

  • Good Car - 2001 Honda Accord

This is the second Accord Ive driven, the first being a 1999 Accord EX-V6, that my Dad still drives with 180,000 miles. I bought this one for better gas mileage and Ive been extremely happy with the 29.7 MPG Ive gotten on average with 60% highway driving. Comfortable, roomy, and its got just enough power, having the manual transmission helps though also the manual isnt prone to failure like the automatic is. Overall a fun car to drive everyday that isnt great at one thing but good at everything. Go Honda!

I am very happy with my accord. It has plenty of leg room when sitting in the back seat. It has a smooth ride and is very dependable.
