This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • Trans Sucks - 2001 Honda Accord

I bought this car by believing all the reviews and got dashed my head. With in one week of buying the Honda Accord EX V6 my transmission started giving problem. It got started slipping and engine light blinks and D4 light started blinking. Took it to mechanic and he told that need to rebuild transmission which could be $2000. If you still would like to go for this car , you are great!!!!!!!!

  • I loved my Accord - 2001 Honda Accord

I got a "lemon" my honda has had 5 transmissions, the driver window wont roll down anymore, lots of electrical issues. My car only has 155,000 miles on it and its way too much to fix now its having engine problems.

  • Probably Best Looking accord, but otherwise mediocre. - 2001 Honda Accord

Im not going to talk about reliability, because that is assumed, demanded and granted for this brand of car. A/C motor is weak, My kids R/C car has more power!!! Battery cables suck, they corrode like nobodys business, even if you put those inexpensive greasy, fuzzy red and green washers on the terminals. Front seats give you back pain, butt pain, and are incahoots with an unforgiving suspension. Seats on my 5th gen. 96 EX accord were much better. I have no idea what all these other reviewers are yapping about, but fuel economy is DEPLORABLE!!! Dealer replaced the transmission under warranty, but you wouldnt even expect Hondas design team to screw it up! Just knocking on wood now!

  • 3rd Transmission about to go! - 2001 Honda Accord

I have owned this car for nearly 5 years, I bought it from a family friend and dealership owner. The car itself is a good automobile except we have replaced the transmission 3 times with used ones and yet again- this one is slipping REALLY bad. I called Honda to express my concerns but they have yet to recall these darn transmissions after numerous complaints. If you feel like your are the only person fighting the 2001 Accord Transmission problem, your not alone. My husband also a mechanic has several friends to rebuild it but literally our cost is $2500. If he were to do it himself, its around $2000. I had hoped in the mass recall would include this Accord but it didnt. FIGHT FIGHT!

  • Great value car in long run - 2001 Honda Accord

  • I just run and run - 2001 Honda Accord

Transmission misbehaved at 99.8K miles, warranty covered those models up to 100K miles ! The dealer replaced it for free. They replaced also the air bag for free. Noisy, stiff, it is a torture chamber. Both rear seat panels fell off. That is all. After 132K miles, the car still runs fine. That is what we expect from a car. To go from A to B. US market Honda are hard to repair in Canada. They are not even listed on their computer system. Relatively stable under slippery condition. Pedals too sensitive. It is a Canbox on 4 wheels. But a good Canbox.

  • Transmission problems - 2001 Honda Accord

This is my third Honda - the others were reliable and I kept them serviced so they would last and they did. Except this one. The transmission is bad and needs to be replaced. The dealer wont replace it under the extended warranty of 7 years and 9 months (I dont drive a lot) but Im still under the 109,000 mile warranty - its whichever occurs first. I always trusted Hondas reputation for being a car that lasted a long time without major repairs until very high miles. This is the last Honda Ill ever buy. In my opinion Honda is slipping in quality.

  • Useless Warranty - 2001 Honda Accord

Hondas warranty is not worth the paper that it is written on. My problem is with the fog lamps which are a dealer- installed option. Both lenses cracked twice and Honda is telling me that it is because some debris hit them. Thats 4 lenses in a 20 month period and theyre telling me that the part is not defective. Also, Honda issued a Technical Service Bulletin which admits that this as a problem with a defective part. Regardless, they want to charge me in excess of $350 to replace what is obviously an situation covered under the warranty. I am pursuing this with the Attorney Generals office.

  • Served its purpose, but had a shitty ride - 2001 Honda Accord

I bought this car off my brother back in 2016 with 193k. The car has seen better days as there is a problem with the bottom of the car as it makes a noise whenever I go at a certain speed. I think its the previous owner before my brother used this car to death.

  • Not all hondas are reliable - 2001 Honda Accord

The car has visited the dealer at least 2 times a month from a faulty leather to the oxegen sensor to the cat converter. i have had to have the keys reprogamed twice and the cars have faulty alignment that creats uneven wear in the tires. this is in fact the worst new car experice by far
