This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • My 6th Accord and probably my best - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

First off, Ive been driving accords for 18 years, and all of them were manuals. I bought my 2001 ex sedan going on 2 months ago from a friend. She got the car in 2002 with 25,000 miles on it; I got it with 217,000 miles. Everything major was recently replaced (timing belt, clutch, seals, brakes, etc). The paint isnt doing the infamous fade/peel like most, its a manual so no worries about the transmission, the engine is clean with no visible sludge, and the check engine light isnt on. The headlights are a tad foggy and the front bumper has some scratches and scuffs, but this thing was well taken care of! Though its 15 years old, I plan on driving this car for several years. I have owned a 92, 99, 91, 93, 02, and now an 01. The 1993 ex sedan holds the title, but this one striving to be the best accord Ive owned!

  • Problems! - 2001 Honda Accord

Have had a lot of problems with this vehicle. Hondas are great cars but have had many problems with this one. With only 33,000 miles we have had loud noise problems that took 3 attempts to fix. In addition the transmission has been replaced and the altinator.

  • Purchased used... - 2001 Honda Accord

My Accord is fully equipped, with leather interior... had 89k on it when I bought it and has 112K now. Absolutely perfect. Its a dream to drive (with one exception to be noted) comfortable and great ergos... took a 400-mile trip and aside from the usual stops, drove straight through. Got out of the car like Id gone to the store and back... that comfortable. Styling is impressive to me, the engine is very responsive and Ive gotten a high of 34mpg on the road... 21 +- around town.

  • Torn between new tranny or another car - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

Bought my car used October 2006 with high mileage (106K), but felt comfortable given Honda reputations (friends/family members Hondas average 250K). I should have done more research on car complaints to avoid the tranny issue - would have got the extended warranty (poor decision on my part). I really like the car though, having put 50K+ miles on it already. I love road trip travel often, so I just get the oil checked and go! Ill probably put the $$2200 in to replace the tranny because the body condition is MINT and all other aspects are working properly.

  • Great looking, reliable, but boring car. - 2001 Honda Accord

Bought mine 5 months ago and even though I find its reliability quite impressive, I still cant figure out why this car was made: Its a sporty looking coupe, but it was never offered as a stick shift, has a very soft suspension and visually deceiving configuration - its long body suggests RWD but being a Honda it never came as such. AWD was never offered in US either. Other than that - the J30A1 motor provides great fuel economy for a V6, the ride is smooth and comfortable, and most things in the interior are conveniently located and make sense.

  • One of the best cars ever built - 2001 Honda Accord

I believe Honda Accords are one of the best cars ever made dollar for dollar. If you have a job where you drive a lot as I do, I would HIGHLY recommend a Honda Accord. Keep the oil changed and drive them reasonably, and they will go for a very very long time.

  • Hate to see it go - 2001 Honda Accord

My wife needed a new car. She test drove a few. When she drove the Accord, she had to have it. 4 yrs later, family is bigger and we get her a new Pilot. I get stuck with this (2001 lx 4dr 5spd). I gotta tell ya, I try to kill this thing every day, shifting at redline and aggressive downshifting. Always dealer serviced. I commute 50 miles a day. I drive this thing near its limits every day, and always get 31 mpg. 50/50 hwy, city. Its still as healthy as ever!

  • Honda Suspect - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

Weve had lots of problems with our 2001 Honda. For starters the paint started peeling and the dealer and Honda refused to back it. Had to essentially repaint the car in 3 spots. Over the years other things went- gas gauge, transmission, now the interior lights go on and off when going over bumps. Any work done at the dealer was double the costs as elsewhere. The ride is fine in town, but on the highway is poor and very light - can feel the car moving on windy days. Very surprised that Honda gets such good ratings when this ranks as our lowest quality car- including other GM vehicles.

  • Best Ever - 2001 Honda Accord

I bought this car to get better gas mileage, I traded in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is my first car and I am impressed. It had everything I wanted at a really good price. I would reccomend this car to anyone.
