This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

I am the third owner, I purchased this car from my sister in June 2009, she bought the car from the original owner in July 2007 with 66K on it for $10,300 when I bought the car from her in June of 2009 it had 95K on it. I bought it from her for $6,300 after she put on 30K in 2 years. The car is great, it just hit 100,015 today and runs like a new car. I did some maintenance over the summer, I replaced the front rotors and did the timing belt and water pump and had the rear rotors resurfaced and new pads put on. Today I just did the spark plugs bc they are original. I used to drive a 96 Camry and this car is so much nicer to drive and the V6 is smooth and powerful. Gas mileage is at 24 mpg.

I reviewed this car in October 2005. Now it is four years later, I still have the same Accord EXV6. Im even happier after this much time has passed. Ive made a lot of improvements to the sound system that resulted in complete disassembly. This is an excellent vehicle to work on. Everything is secured well. Panels can be removed and replaced without squeaking or rattling. It is still a great vehicle and Im always getting compliments when people see the odometer. Do not hesitate to pick this one up!

  • I love my Honda Accord!! - 2001 Honda Accord

I have had this car for almost a year now, and I absolutely love it. Not only is it a beautiful car (dark blue with gray interior), but it drives very well and is very dependable! My dad bought it as a graduation present for me to take to college and use for the next 5 or 6 years, and I can see myself driving it and still loving it for that time at least! I highly recommend Honda Accords.

  • 258K--almost 16 years! Love my Accord! - 2001 Honda Accord

2001 Honda Accord V6 with 258K miles and little or no repair needed except 1 mount is 1/2. Otherwise, I want my car to last another 250K. I had heard the 2001 Honda Accord 4 cylinders were lasting 500K but not the V6. Kept up with all maintenance and I believe thats the key.

  • good car, good price.......cant beat - 2001 Honda Accord

I have a V6 accord, and for the price, you cant really beat the reliability, comfort and ergonomics. It is pretty spacious for its size too.

  • Watch Out for EGR and Transmission - 2001 Honda Accord

I replaced an aging Toyota Corolla with a gently used 2001 Accord. I read that there were problems with the V6 trans so we steered clear of those and got a 4cyl. We were deeply disappointed when the transmission on the car went out at 139000 miles. It was the same failure that the V6s had. We also had the dreaded EGR valve issue and spent weeks tracking it down and getting it fixed. I currently drive a 1992 Chevy S-10 that has been far less trouble, and far less expensive to maintain, than this supposedly "reliable" Honda. I dont want to curse all Hondas because I know they had a bad run, but if we had it to do over again we wouldnt have bought it. And its soured me somewhat on Hondas.

  • 300k miles and still going strong! - 2001 Honda Accord

purchased this car 3 years ago due to me reading good reviews about how reliable it is and the reviews were right. I put 25k miles per year on it. Super reliable, comfortable and drives great.. even in the snow. my cruise control doesnt work anymore which is a bummer but everything else works great. if you need a comfortable low maintenance car to get you from A to B this is the best bang for the buck.. I wonder if I could break a record and put 1,000,000 miles on it

  • honda quality declining... - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

not very fun to drive due to slow acceleration and mediocre handling. both front door speakers began buzzing at 10k miles. Lack of power from a 150 hp I4 is glowing brightly! A huge manual shifter gets obnoxious after 60 miles. Brakes were shot around 36k miles. A/C never gets cold even after tune-ups. Styling is very conservative. On the plus side, CD changer is good and its in-dash so no trunk activity is reqd. Ive had four straight hondas and quality has declined. Also, wind noise and ride noise are problems. But it runs really well, so its not a junker. Im now getting a 525i so all you hondas on the road watch out! 525i=accord eater
