This Year's Model Updates:

Freshened exterior styling debuts on the 2001 Honda Accord, with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and hood and a new taillight design. Honda also ups the safety features list, making dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags standard and side airbags available on all models. All Accords now either meet or exceed California's low-emission vehicle (LEV) standards (some Accords meet ULEV standards, and one model sold in California is rated SULEV). Improvements aimed at reducing road and wind noise have been made, while EX models get a standard in-dash six-disc CD changer, and all V6 models come with traction control. Midyear, a DX four-banger equipped with a special value package debuted, adding an automatic transmission, air conditioning, a CD player, floor mats, fake wood interior accents and special exterior trim.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, personality of Al Gore, taut highway ride.

  • Good but not so good - 2001 Honda Accord

I bought this car used in 2001. The transmission lasted until 2009. I had another one put in and it lasted 7 months. I was not happy about this issue and did not find that the 2001 was standard for transmission failure. I feel like another consumer that Honda knew about the failure and sold the car for regular price. This does allow me to place my trust in honda very well. I wish there was someone that could make honda pay the 2001 owners back. All that money and no car, does not seem very fair. They have theirs and they are gone.

  • SAFE MY LIFE...SEVEN TIMES - 2001 Honda Accord

I used to own a 2001 Naples Gold EX Honda Accord. I had it for nine years and had only 39,000 miles. Unfortunately, I was involved in seven cars accidents with this car. It survived six accidents. It was totaled approximately a month ago, alas, the seventh car accident. Fortunately, I was able to walk away from all those accidents in one piece. I never had any problems with this car (except the accidents). This was a great car and I got an outstanding deal on it. However, no more Hondas for me.

  • Love my car - 2001 Honda Accord

I love my 2001 Accord vp! It has over 185k miles and continues to be reliable! I have had to replace many parts, but this is mostly due to normal wear and tear. Belts wear, seals leak. But that happens to any well used car. My engine and transmission are mechanically sound! I just bought a second Accord, because I was ready for new car with more features ( ex-l) and so dont want to sell my old one because I love it!

  • Solid Car - 2001 Honda Accord

Bought this car new 9 years ago. Now have 126M miles. It replaced a 1992 Accord my wife wrecked. The 1992 was a little smaller and more fun to drive. They keep making these Accords bigger and bigger. Honda replaced my transmission for free a few years back. Even gave me a rental for the day, so no sweat off my back. Great reliability, great interior design. Exterior is a little bland, especially compared to the new Accords. Driver seat hurts my old back after an hour or so. No rattles, no rust , no repairs except for normal maintenance. Mileage could be better, especially around town. Hope to drive it another 5 years until I can afford a new one!

  • My 01 Accord EX-L 5-Speed - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

I purchased this vehicle with 101,000 miles on it for $7500. It is the EX 4cyl/manual transmission with leather package. It is a hard combo to find but well worth it. The car is loaded with safety and comfort features, the leather seats are VERY comfortable, the back seat is comfortable for two, and I love the audio controls on the steering wheel. I HIGHLY recommend the manual transmission with this car for several reasons. First, the automatic is well-know to be plagued by reliability issues, many people spend $3000+ replacing the transmission. The manual is trouble- free. Also, you can really squeeze the power out of this engine with the 5-speed, and the gas mileage is better.

  • I just run and run - 2001 Honda Accord

Transmission misbehaved at 99.8K miles, warranty covered those models up to 100K miles ! The dealer replaced it for free. They replaced also the air bag for free. Noisy, stiff, it is a torture chamber. Both rear seat panels fell off. That is all. After 132K miles, the car still runs fine. That is what we expect from a car. To go from A to B. US market Honda are hard to repair in Canada. They are not even listed on their computer system. Relatively stable under slippery condition. Pedals too sensitive. It is a Canbox on 4 wheels. But a good Canbox.

  • Hand-Me-Down Car - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

My dad bought this car brand new in January 2001, and has had it for a little more than 9 and 1/2 years. Now, its been handed down to me as my dad has gotten a new 2010 Accord. Ive driven the car many times before my dad gave it to me. Its not a bad car. The ride is good and comfortable. The power is sufficient. The exterior style is a little boring, but I can deal. After 9 years in the family, it runs fine and Ill most likely keep it for another year or so before buying a new car for myself. As a hand-me-down car, its good!

  • The best - 2001 Honda Accord

210,000 miles and its still clicking. Regular maintenance done every 100,000 - timing belt and water pump. The V6 has lots of pep, still get 30-32 on the highway, mucho comfort with the leather power seats.

  • Updated review after my first year - 2001 Honda Accord
    By -

I have had this Accord for a little over a year, got it with 95k and today 07/14/2010 it has 111,895 miles. It needed a lot of maintenance to get it to the condition i have it at right now. I have replaced the timing belt/water pump, tires, battery, transmission fluid, front and rear brakes, spark plugs, and last week my rear main seal failed and it leaked about half a quart of oil in 2 weeks. It was an unexpected, not to mention early failure so if anyone else had that same problem let me know cause it was an expensive repair.I am happy that my automatic transmission is fine and overall, i am quite please with the car and plan to keep him for a while.

  • Hmm........Honda--such a great car?? - 2001 Honda Accord

Ok, I am the second owner of this car. I bought this 01 Honda Accord from my step-mom at the beginning of May 2010. As I write this review, the check engine light has come on (and gone off) twice. In the length of time that I have "known" this car, there have been multiple problems. I know for a fact the trans. has been replaced twice, first time was to replace the original faulty trans, and the second replace was because of a faulty trans. and it was within three weeks of first replacement. This is my first Honda and I am truly wondering what is so great! My 94 Escort has fewer problems than this "wonderful and reliable" Honda, my next car probably wont be a Honda.
