Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

It looks great, bought the white S. Interior room is good. Have 2 young children and they do good in the back seat. My first mileage was 41.6 mpg with the automatic driving very easy on the highway in break-in. Except when the Escaldes try to run up your tail pipe at 65 mph. I drive 100 miles per day so will enjoy the MPG. Some people complained about the steering wheel being too far away, however it suits me fine as I drag my knuckles when I walk anyway. This is my 2nd Toyota, my first was 83 pickup which I got over 250,000 miles on b4 I sold it after 15 years.

Looked around, this has to be the best economy car around right now.

  • like it ... but - - 2009 Toyota Corolla

The car is fun to drive for what it is. It is very roomy on the inside compared to other vehicles we tested. I thought to gas mileage would be better though. I understand the EPA ratings are "estimates", but I travel 70 highway miles per day and so far am averaging on 26 miles per gallon. This seems a bit off the 35 miles per gallon on the sticker. Since this was the primary reason for buying this vehicle I am disappointed in the variance in what is advertised.

  • Good, Reliable Buy - 2010 Toyota Corolla

We love Toyota in my family. I have owned my Corolla S for two weeks and am getting 33.5 mpg, which is what I was looking for. I was looking for a sporty look and the spoiler and sunroof of the Corolla S was the best I could get for the money. Not fond of the boxy look and the sport fabric of the seats which shows every spot. Love the visibility of the front window, the roomy feel, big trunk, data of mpg, and smooth ride. Do not like the placement of center arm rest which is too far back and center cupholder built only for a travel mug. Im getting used to the odd placement of the clock and the illogical shifting direction. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

I found my 95 Corolla one year old with 5000 mls and have really liked it - easy to drive in town, good on long trips and a pretty roomy trunk for a small car and she started on the coldest Minnesota mornings. BUT - at about 65,000 miles - it started burning oil; thought this was a fluke and maybe not a good break in (I change the oil every 3000 miles) - but have heard of other Toyota Corollas doing this and recently heard of a smililar problem with 4 cylinder engine (Trecel) at about 60,000 miles. I hope this is not a problem with Toyotas as Ive been loyal to Toyota for many years.

  • love it but..... - 2004 Toyota Corolla

Test drove 03 civics vs 03 corolla LE. Corolla wins hands down, quieter, smoother, comfortable seats, large trunk and interior, powerful enough for a daily driver and given Toys proven past, should last 200k mi. But... It needs telescoping steering. Either foot pedals too close or steering wheel too far away.

  • Almost Perfect - 2005 Toyota Corolla

It was a toss up between Corolla and Civic. Both have documented quality, comparable MPG and priced competitively. The Corolla won out and Ive been very pleased since. I have 27,000 miles so far with only minor complaints. Overall the Corolla is tight, surprisingly quiet for an economy car and the best gas mileage short of a hybrid. Ive noticed the prices have gone up considerably since I purchased mine, but its still a great car for the price. If youre a "bang for the buck" kind of person, this is the car for you.

  • Practical but boring - 2007 Toyota Corolla

Considering that Im in my car all day, I must say that the Corolla is a very practical everyday car but boring nonetheless. I dont really get excited when Im in it and I dont look at it beautifully like I did my previous car. Maybe its because I upgraded from a 1996 Civic, but this Corolla had so much potential to be a fun everyday vehicle. Hopefully the next generation will be better.

  • Jumped too fast - 2009 Toyota Corolla

Cant see the front of the car when driving it so parking distance is impossible, steering is to touchy, instrument panel small lettering is hard to see, other than that its an okay car especially to save money on gas, when accelerating you get the converter egg smell sometimes.

  • Reliable But Boring - 2011 Toyota Corolla

Smooth, quiet engine. Transmission shifts well even though it could use another gear or two. Ive been averaging 34-35mpg with 60% highway. Couldve been better with an 5 or 6 speed. Steering and handling is dull and unresponsive. The car does not give any feed back during cornering nor give any warning when near the limit. Steering is really loose. My wifes 2006 Mazda MPV is a better vehicle to drive. Exterior styling on the S is clean and nice to look at. Interior is simple and easy to look at and functional. Quite basic compared to some competition though. If you need an reliable car with no frills, you found it.
