Overview & Reviews
Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.
Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

2004 Corolla - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By trcarroll - April 10 - 2:00 amOwned a 97 Geo Prizm before and didnt hesitate to buy a 04 Corolla. Unfortunately I did not test drive it close enough. Major problem with steering wheel too close to dash, and an ackward seat/floor. This has resulted in personal left foot problems (Ive called "Toyota foot"). Also problem with rotten egg smell while ideling at a stop. Need to inform passengers that its the car "not me".

Love my Corolla - 1998 Toyota Corolla
By ADwyer - April 8 - 5:53 pmI bought my Corolla because I wanted a car that would last, I could depend on, and wouldnt require a lot of unexpected repair cost. I have not been disappointed. I love the gas mileage, I love the realibility (which is second to none.) I have 165K on it today, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Other than regular maintainence I have put nothing into this car. I think about buying something bigger because of the short backseat, however, I am scared to give up the dependability I have grown to expect.

Nice car - 2004 Toyota Corolla
By JJ994 - April 5 - 10:00 amI have the car for only 5 weeks but so far it has been nice to drive. It is quiet and is good on gas. I am getting 30mpg on the hyw. with a heavy right foot and about 26 mpg city/hyw. I have been from N.Y.C. to Montreal and it cruises nicely at 90mph.

Not as good as i thought? - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By junior - March 31 - 1:46 pmHad since 06 and been reliable except for the following. Had to have all brakes put on at 65k and Im easy with the brake pedal so not sure why Id need new brakes already but ole well. Horn stopped working after 45k miles. Needing tires now but thats a wear and tear item. They held up quite well knowing I have them still on and the car has 71k on it. Lights keep going out here and there. License plate light and one of the front hi beams keeps going out for some reason. The flashers dont work and havent since 48k miles. Not sure why? The dealer said it a electrical problem and my warranty wouldnt cover it. Other than that no major issues. Engine fine for now. Thank god!

Reliable commute car - 1999 Toyota Corolla
By Bo - March 29 - 9:13 pmI have put 160K on it,in general its been reliable, no major problems. Its cheap to maintain and will run for long time. I have long commute and like to stay in fast lane all the time, enginee start burning oil when its about 120k, not very bad but the rear is "smoked", its very obvious on a white bumper. Also replaced the front struct at about 130k mile, I took it on to dirt road couple times on camping trips with few hundred pond load. Front hood paint has many large chips due to long hours on the road, steering wheel top portion wore out due to the sweat and sunshine, front windshield replaced due to cracks. Overall I recomand it to commuter who dont push it too hard

2009 Corolla S 4Dr Automatic - 2009 Toyota Corolla
By Bakka - March 21 - 12:33 amThis vehicle is providing on average above 37 mpg under normal driving conditions and 39+ on the highway currently. This is without the AC running. Two features I do not like are the lack of being able to manually control the headlights, and the vehicle came standard without intermittent windshield wiper capability. (Hard to believe on the wiper issue.) I also have some very strange noises coming from the left side of the engine compartment area that sounds as if something wants to come apart. So far, they have not been able to be identified. This makes the car feel unsecure at times. Overall though, the car is doing well at the nearly 10,000 mile mark.

Nice car by Jsun - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By nice car by Jsun - March 10 - 3:00 amThis is my first Toyota. What can i say it is a great car so far w/ only 7xx mi on it! Love the external red impulse color. I wish it did better on fuel economy though. Only getting 26mpg so far, but should improve the more i drive i HOPE!! Only have driven in city so not sure how the MPG for highway will be yet. I hope it lasts my a long time, bc i plan on owning it a long time! The dash could use some refinement.(kinda plain looking?) seats very comfortable. Traded my so- called Lemon Scion Xa 06 for this. Hopefully this car will be a better one for me! Loving it so far! My first car w/ DRL! Never have to mess w/ the headlight switch unless i want to use the brights. It best LAST!!!

Disappointed - 2000 Toyota Corolla
By Chris - March 7 - 9:06 amI bought this car new because I have always heard about Toyota dependability. Gas was never 30 mpg as advertised. I have had problems with the oil. Several times, the oil light would not be on but when I checked it or the oil was changed, nothing showed on the stick. I have had the engine checked several times but they did not detect any leak. Finally, someone determined the valve cover gasket was leaking. Now I have had the valve cover gasket changed several times to no avail--I put in oil almost every time I use it. Also inside handles on all 4 doors have broken off. I have owned some pretty old cars, but never had all the door handles break off. I would not buy it again.

I love this car, but I wish ... - 2006 Toyota Corolla
By spacedude86 - March 1 - 12:13 pmI love this car. Its reliable, its sort of fun to drive, and it gets great gas mileage. I wish I hadnt gotten the CE base model though, because it lacks power windows, doors, and cruise control. I had to have the cruise control installed aftermarket. It started making this weird sound every time I started it up, that would go away after a while. Ran great, no problems. Then my girlfriend bought a Lexus (Toyota motor) and it made the same sound, so I stopped worrying about it. If you want a great little commuter car that is super reliable, then this is your car.
