Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

  • So far, so good - 2010 Toyota Corolla

I have been very pleased so far. Reliable transportation and averaging 37 mpgs! Wish I could have afforded a camry, though.

  • Happy with it - 2013 Toyota Corolla

Kids are grown up now, just needed a reliable commuter car with good gas mileage for going to work. Got the sporty loaded model and it looks nice for the price. Heated mirrors, sunroof, climate control, stitching, bigger rims & tires and nav are nice in this type/priced car. And I got an amazing deal since the 2014s were just out. It drives very average, is weak on power, and the interior fit and finish is old school, but for the value i couldnt find better. At the time, a similar Civic EX was almost $5k more. Now at 40k miles with zero issues, just oil changes and tire rotations. Even the tires still have a good 25k of tread left. I knew exactly what I was getting when I purchased it, and has fully lived up to my expectations. Would recommend, just dont expect much refinement in this model.

  • Love this car! - 1999 Toyota Corolla

My husbands car has almost 200,000 mi on it and you just cant kill it! It just goes forever if you keep up with oil changes every 3k and proper maint. I just wish they would make it roomier for people up to 58" -6 tall. That is truly the only complaint. I am only too happy to get a small economical car that is a good buy! Not to mention tremendous resale value. I spoke to two owners that have sold their 1999 Toyota Corollas between $2,300.00 - 3,200.00. Just goes to show the public still has confidence in Toyota! I used to be a Honda person, but switched to Toyota after two of my Hondas needed a Transmission at 180,000 mi. - Bye Bye Honda! Just bought two more Toyotas for my family

  • Steering wheel from hell - 2003 Toyota Corolla

Love the car except for only one item. Poor steering wheel placement. My knees hit the wheel if I have to break as it does not adjust out to the driver. It is also a very small steering wheel. What was Toyota thinking about? I bought the car as I was in love with the fuel economy and reliability. Now I am not sure it was worth it.

  • A great second car. - 2003 Toyota Corolla

I turn on the ignation and it starts at once, never a failure so far.Great gas milage.Installed new tires at 43000 miles. Not so good features: A hard ride and could be less noisy.Over all, a great value.

  • Works for me... - 2004 Toyota Corolla

Toyotas engines win hands down when it comes to miles. No American made economy car can compare. I researched well before I bought, because Im a single woman who hates car problems. I wanted something I could trust.

Corolla is a very liable car. It is not powerful but saves a lot gasoline. For people dont mind that this car is not powerful, I recommend this car. I have had a corolla for almost 6 years and I only fixed this car only once (excepting changing oils)for power door lock.

  • Goes the Distance - 1994 Toyota Corolla

Bought my 1994 wagon fresh off the 1st production line in Sept 93 (The last yr made in Japan). I dont drive much and keep it garaged so it still looks & runs the same as day 1!!! Havent done anything but regular maintainance- fluid changes, brake pad, battery, tire & wiper blade replacements- Thats it. I only have 50k miles on it so Ill have to give it to someone when I get tired of it because it wont die in my lifetime. I agree with another viewer that the Matrix is not a viable replacement because its trunk is way too small- but its built with the same frame & engine. Im going for the Prius next. Its hatchback trunk is a decent sz & it sure is sexy compared to the Corolla.

Just wanted to comment on 2 issues that I have seen mentioned. Driver visor interfering with rear view mirror. At first I was wondering how Toyota could have overlooked this, but after playing with the mirrors articulated mounting adjustment, you will find that It is very easy to readjust so that it is out of the visors way. Brakes slip when completely stopped. I believe that this is due to the AC cycling on and off. It can be a disconcerting experience as it feels like someone has bumped you from behind. I dont have a solution to this one.
