Model Overview:

Well into its fourth decade of production, the compact Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in automotive history, and for good reason. Small, inexpensive, fuel-efficient and as reliable as the day is long, the Corolla is the quintessential economy car. As long as you change the oil on time and don't hit a tree, any Corolla should provide dependable transportation well past the 100,000-mile mark. That's why so many shoppers keep buying Corollas year after year.

Since its 1968 introduction in the U.S., the Toyota Corolla has come in a variety of body styles, including a sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon. More recently, however, it has only been available as a sedan. Today's Corolla has almost as much rear passenger space as a midsize sedan and its fuel economy is impressive. Although rivals boast sportier designs and more entertaining driving dynamics, a Corolla is nonetheless an excellent choice for smart consumers on a budget.

I bought the toyota corolla in June 2006 and have 21 K miles on this car. The Car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road trip and had to have the car towed to the nearest toyota leadership as it was under warranty. The ECU (computer) broke and the car would not start and there was a backlog delay of several weeks to get the car repaired. I have contacted Toyota Customer Service for assistance and they covered for cost for towing the car to my home city toyota dealer and co-ordinated with the dealership to have my car fixed.

This car has given me 8 years of totally reliable and economical service. The ONLY thing needed over this period of time was the routine servicing that should be done on any vehicle (oil change, tune-up, etc).

  • My 1st Toyota and lovin it - 2005 Toyota Corolla
    By -

Ive recently traded in my 2004 Corolla for a 2005 and Im glad I did. The 05 has a better feel, is smoother and quieter. I have been very pleased with the performance of this car as well as its reliabilty and think that it was the best purchase decision. The added power locks and cruise control option is definantly a plus and comes in handy. Will definantly purchase another Toyota product when I need to.

  • My first Toyota - 2006 Toyota Corolla

At age 58 and having owned maybe 20 cars, this is my first Toyota and I do not regret it. I bought it on its reputation for reliability and life-span, and was pleasantly surprised at the comfort and performance. The 1.8L gives decent acceleration, I had a concern that because of my driving habits, which consist of a 1.5 mile trip to the store, shut off, re-start and come home totals 3 miles of driving about 4 times a week that eventually the battery would not re-charge from not enough driving. But after 5 months: no problem. I have of course taken longer trips, but what I described sometimes goes on for a month. Complaint: no trunk-open on remote entry.

  • Beautiful Simplicity! - 2012 Toyota Corolla

We have long been a Ford family however our last Fusion did not meet our expectations due to a lot of mechanical issues and poor fuel economy. After test drives of the Ford Focus, Mazda 3 and Mazda 6, the Corolla was by far my favorite and has been a great car, both in performance and build quality. So far weve averaged around 33 MPG in mostly city driving conditions which helps a lot with higher fuel prices! This car looks great both inside and out and is fun to drive as well. I look forward to giving this car to my son in about six years when he gets his license!

  • Best car Ive ever owned - 1994 Toyota Corolla

We bought our 94 Corolla back in 95 from a Toyota dealership which used it as a rental-loan car. It only had 10,000 miles on it, now its clocking nearly 200,000. At the time, half of the Corollas were built in Japan, half in California. Ours is a Japanese built example. The fit and finish of this car surpasses many more expensive models. It still looks great, runs perfect and gets great mileage. It still has the original engine and transmission. I change the oil every 3,000 to 6,000 miles. I also have the transmission serviced regularly. This little gem doesnt use a drop of oil either. One day were going to have to get rid of it but the way this thing runs it might be another 100,000 miles!

  • Toyota Corolla : My little BMW - 2005 Toyota Corolla

I know, I know, I only have 2500 miles on my new Corolla, but its so much fun to drive! The doors close magnificently; the motor purrs; the interior is quiet; the gas mileage is excellent. It handles like a little sports car. Ive have owned three Hondas before this Toyota. I have to say, after test driving the 2005 Civics and Corollas, there was no comparison. Honda definitely has some catching up to do.

  • Extremely happy - 2010 Toyota Corolla
    By -

I felt compelled to write a review after reading Edmunds statements about Corolla being last in some survey. I truly am extremely happy. Averaging 30mpg combined hwy/local. Very nice look external and internal. Seats more comfortable than the Civic which I previously owned. Quiet. Handles tremendously well. Accelerates smoothly including uphill. Auto shifts smoothly. Multi-CD player sounds great. Its the smooth ride I think really impresses and the nice design. Then just add the quality - confidence this will last 100-200k miles or more.

  • Reliable commuter car - 2000 Toyota Corolla

Not the flashiest of vehicles, but definately the most reliable car I have driven. I bough my car used with 23k miles on it in 03, and have put about 25k miles a year on it driving between WA and OR states. Not a single problem. Engine power isnt bad, and fuel economy is awesome. I get about 40 mpg on the hwy with my 5 sp manual.
