Overview & Reviews
Hyundai has added a GT sedan to the lineup. It has the same price and equipment as the GT hatchback, save for a rear wiper, and it gets a body-color rear spoiler. The hatchback will wear a black rear lip spoiler, and both GTs will come with floor mats. Meanwhile, the value-packed GLS sedan remains unchanged, except ABS will be slightly more affordable, as it has been added to the Accessory Group 3 options package, which costs $925. Finally, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup -- the Elantra is now rated at 135 hp, rather than 140, though the engine itself is unchanged.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features, ultralow price tag.
- Poor offset crash test score, ABS available only as a package option.

Well worth it - 2003 Hyundai Elantra
By dgh - June 11 - 10:00 amThis car was a second car for our family (two kids 1&3) Wife has a MPV Van (hate it) and I replaced my 300ZX Conv. as my main car. Everyone fits well in this car--for a small car lots of room, car seats--toys and the trunk holds must haves on a weekend trip. I drive the car 40 miles a day to work and have had no problems. I enjoy this car...and dont get killed when I make a payment.

I love my car - 2003 Hyundai Elantra
By Sharon - June 7 - 11:19 amI bought my car brand new and have had all required service completed as suggested. To date I have had no problems with my car. I have 84 thousand miles on it and hope it keeps on going. My next car will most likely be another Elantra or a Sonata depending on cost .

Love this car! - 2003 Hyundai Elantra
By Mel - May 19 - 1:19 pmI bought this car used in 2005 with only 13000 miles on it. Now in 2009 with over 100K miles it still drives almost like new! I had to replace the brakes once... but thats it. I live in New England and this car has made it up hills in a foot of snow that Ive seen honda CRVs struggling in. This car was an awesome investment and I am most definitely going to be getting another elantra when I get a new car and Im secretly jealous of whoever gets my old used one!

Great Car/ Crappy Company - 2003 Hyundai Elantra
By no thanks - March 28 - 2:00 amWhile my Elantra is fun to drive and I enjoy the car, I have had a horrific experience with the company. In fact, my car is a lemon, and even after receiving an agreement that if the car is not fixed after a final attempt, I have been given the runaround. The problem reoccured nearly a month ago, and I have received no response from the company. I will eventually be going to court. If you ever have a problem with the car that reoccurs, be sure to handle it very swiftly and good luck dealing with the jerks at the company hq.

Great car for the money - 2003 Hyundai Elantra
By Radley - March 22 - 11:46 amBought this car new in late 02 now have 92K miles. Had only a few minor problems, all covered under extended warranty: E-brake cable, rear wheel bearing, hatch latch. Orig. tires went 40K miles, brakes a bit more. Needs a new clutch, but 90k mile seems about right. Paint is sensitive to dings and scratches, but the body has held up fairly well. Ive lost a few radio control knobs, and the speakers are beginning to give a little static, but the interior has held up nicely. Service at dealers has been mixed, sometimes too expensive and other times they dont do things listed in manual (like radiator flush at 60,000). Resale value isnt great, so I will keep this car until it falls apart.

Good cheap car - 2003 Hyundai Elantra
By Jack - March 22 - 10:09 amI drive my Elantra 80 miles hwy everyday for the past year. It has had very few issues such as the O2 sensors failing and my parking break snapped. Relatively cheap fixes. What did concern me was when I hit my cow of a deer, was that the air bags didnt deploy when the whole front end of my car was smashed up. The repairs, covered by my collision insurance were extremely cheap, only coming out to be $1400 total for new headlights, grill, hood, bumper + cover fog lights, horn, paint job and tire. It has been a great car and has been a pretty good winter car.

My Elantra GT - 2003 Hyundai Elantra
By Elantra GT in Cincy - March 22 - 10:00 amI wanted a reliable car that was fun to drive at a decent price. The Elantra GT semmed to be the best choice. The features for the price is incredible, as is the warranty. The engine in this car kinks butt, great acceleration and its happy cruising at 90mph. Compared to anything else out there, this is hands down the best choice.
