This Year's Model Updates:

Hyundai has added a GT sedan to the lineup. It has the same price and equipment as the GT hatchback, save for a rear wiper, and it gets a body-color rear spoiler. The hatchback will wear a black rear lip spoiler, and both GTs will come with floor mats. Meanwhile, the value-packed GLS sedan remains unchanged, except ABS will be slightly more affordable, as it has been added to the Accessory Group 3 options package, which costs $925. Finally, Hyundai announced that it had misstated the horsepower ratings for all of the models in its lineup -- the Elantra is now rated at 135 hp, rather than 140, though the engine itself is unchanged.

Pros:
  • Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, plenty of standard features, ultralow price tag.
Cons:
  • Poor offset crash test score, ABS available only as a package option.

For the money this is the best car you can get. Some of the options/standard features are not even available on cars in its class and also in more expensive classes.

  • Love it! - 2003 Hyundai Elantra

I am delighted with the amount of car I got for the money. I shopped very carefully for 3 weeks and I know I would have had to pay at least $2,000 more for an equivalent car. I love the solid ride. Everything is high quality and well designed. This car was for my wife. I am going to buy another one for myself..........

  • The Perfect Car! - 2003 Hyundai Elantra

This is the best car that I have ever had. It fits my needs perfectly. It is a perfect size, and rides beautifully! It was also priced unbelieveably great. The gauges are easy to read and everything inside is easy to find. There were even a few extra perks that I didnt expect the car to have. For instance, I now have a special holder for my sunglasses. This comes in handy because I always leave them in the car, and this way they dont get scratched. Sometimes it is the little things that get the consumer excited about a car. I must say again how pleased I am with my new Hyundai Elantra!

  • Love my Elantra - 2003 Hyundai Elantra

When I had my second child, I needed a reliable 4 door vehicle, within our budget. I did a lot of research and found that the Elantra was affordable and classy. I went to our local Hyundai dealer and in no way was I pressured to buy. I went in and told them exactly what I was looking for as far as options and it turned out everything I thought was an option, came standard. For example, dual front airbags, side impact airbags, and power windows and locks. After I test drove it, I bought it! I love my Elantra!

I am 62 year old man and have owned 8 new cars in my lifetime. A VW, Chevy, Mercury, Toyota, Mitsubishi and this Hyundai is the best new car I ever owned. The design is smart, well done, clean and safe. It is also the best price car I ever bought and with the most conveniences included in standard price.

Bought my Elantra May 2002 and to date I have been pleased with the overall car. The reliability of some parts slightly disappointed me but I guess the warranty made up for it.

  • Five years and no problems - 2003 Hyundai Elantra

Have had my 2003 Hyundai Elantra for five years and have had no problems. Bought car new with four miles on it. Outside of new brakes, tires and oil changes, have had ZERO problems with my car. Has never been in shop for problems. Am selling now at 70k miles, and will buy another as this car has been perfect. Honestly cannot say any issues/problems have had with car. Have never had to test warranty. Very happy.

  • Excellent value, very reliable - 2003 Hyundai Elantra

This has been an excellent car, the price and warranty are what got us looking at it initially. Weve never owned an import before, but now Id definitely buy another Hyundai. We get 32-34 mpg in town, 40+ hwy. Gasoline with very high ethanol content does reduce MPG somewhat, but it will do that on any car. The only expense other than regular maintenance items was a battery. Plenty of interior room, upholstery still looks like new. PW, PDL, A/C, power mirrors all standard. Dealership was very determined to keep customers satisfied. We are very pleased with our Hyundai.

this little car will cruise at 80 and still get 38 mpg! What a nice little car. So quiet and rides great. Would recommend it to anyone. Also has better that average head room.
