  • LCD DISPLAY ISSUES CONSTANT AND BRAKE RECALL - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

Loved it when I first got it, brand new 2016 model, loaded but just turned 5,000 miles and have had parking brake issues, dangerous ones with recall out for it. Then today LCD display screen started flickering non-stop cannot use it AT all. Have to go in and have fixed, check Internet many people with these same ongoing issues. Car to low to ground as well, Bluetooth works only randomly, and media as well as navigator only work randomly too. SO disappointing! Choose another vehicle, this is my first Honda was so excited as the ratings were so good, but definitely has issues!

  • Great Car if you dont turn on the Stereo - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

If you are going to buy this car and plan on listening to music look somewhere else. Honda plays stupid and says there is not any problem and the dealerships are just guessing on what it takes to fix the problem. The subwoofer rattles and it is horrible even which the bass turned all the way down. I read in several forums including consumer reports that Honda will say they have never heard of this issue and when I called that is exactly what happened. Since then they have said they are working on the problem but they do not know when it will be fixed. The rest of the car well I love it and once they fix the stereo it will be a great car. The lane assist is a little weird and is nothing like what Tesla has but the over all fit and finish is first class. I hope helps someone

  • Honda please address the audio software issues!!! - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

Im so glad I found the civicx.com forum and the many owners with my same 2016 Honda Touring issues (http://www.civicx.com/threads/loud-popping-noise-upon-startup-touring.1279/). After reading, if you have the same issue, please post there and also contact Honda technical support to hopefully get them to address this widespread and very "unpublicized" issue. I just purchased my Touring 6 days ago - March 2016, and have been to the dealership 2x, and have to figure out how to take it back AGAIN tomorrow. According to other owners on civicx.com, I can look forward to dozens of more visits that do not result in any type of long term "fix". First the charging port unit was broken (used to be called a cigarette lighter). Apparently it was installed wrong. They also had to address my Bluetooth issue- where when playing music the audio drops, sounds choppy and skips over and over and over in the song, and also the issue where there is absolutely no sound when starting the car from time to time. Mind you, I experienced all of these issues within the first 4 hours of having the car!! The day after my purchase, I dropped off my new Touring to the service department. Three days later service tells me they couldnt replicate the audio issues, but that they called Honda Technical Support who advised there is no issue. So in the end they refreshed the system and let me know it should be fine now. Nope. Not 10 minutes after driving off the lot it happened again. I took it back and they sat with me and confirmed the issue WAS there and indeed was VERY annoying. They said that the Honda techline advised that now since the service department tech has replicated the issue, they can confirm its a KNOWN issue that requires a software update that they havent produced yet. I was told that I will need to call consistently to see if an update has been created, and in the meantime to avoid Bluetooth and use CarPlay for audio and sent on my way. The next day I experienced the no audio issue again at start up. One day after that I get that full volume power surge popping sound that blasted my ears and Im sure my speakers are damaged because of it!!! It didnt matter what source of audio it was set to (Bluetooth, AM, FM, XM, CarPlay), or whether or not I turned the audio off, and didnt stop even after pulling over and restarting/shutting down/restarting the car. After one last huge pop it finally stopped but left me with absolutely NO audio for my 2 hour drive - I had to use my earbuds and cellphone for music! I now have to make yet ANOTHER drive to Honda to get service to look at it again and at least document my issues in case future action is necessary. Im glad Im not the only one going through this with their brand new Civic Touring, but to know so many have the same issues with the Touring is really unnerving. No idea why is there no coverage on this publicly so that it lights a fire under Honda to get more resources allocated towards fixing these major issues!!! We paid extra for the better speakers, audio and technology, but are unable to use them from day 1 with no fix in sight. To now have to consider bringing a little speaker with me to hook to my iPhone in order to get music on my sometimes 1-2 hour commutes is unbelievable and should be taken seriously by Honda. My ultimate hope is that the speakers are covered under warranty because Im sure thats going to come in handy soon with the sporadic high volume popping. I still think the car itself is absolutely beautiful, but I am disgusted with Honda at this point because the issue has been happening to people on the civicx.com forum since December 2015!! My hope is the more this issue is publicized, the harder Honda will work to fix it, or do a recall for the affected cars (not sure if all are affected).

  • An Upgrade From The Previous Production Run - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

Isnt it amazing how many people describe whatever brand new vehicle theyve just purchased as "An Amazing car", or "Greatest Car Ever!", or some such other hyperbole? The age and mindset of those placing such posts immediately springs to mind. In reality, beyond the "Bestest Greatestest Most Humongously Stupendestist Car Ever" reactions, the new Civic remains tethered to its econo-box origins. I test drove the LX. The styling is overall a forward step up from its previous grandma conservative look, but the designers went too far in many respects. The back end looks like they were going for super-sporty, but didnt really know how its done, so they went way overboard with an excessive - and from some angles - ludicrous design. Inside, the car is much nicer than the Corolla, although its still far short of the plusher refinement of the Chevy Cruze. When driving, you still have a sense of sparseness along with that unmistakably econo-box feeling of an empty, light-weight tin can. Tapping the interior roof confirms the impression of rather cheap hollowness. The Civic had adequate acceleration, but no feeling at all of power on demand. Just drive an Accord for comparison and you feel the difference immediately. However, it has better power than the Corolla. The ride is somewhat jittery. Rear visibility is poor due to the narrow and radically tilted slot of a rear window. If you choose the Civic, youll have to live with a CVT - not something Id want to do; but it seems that many people hardly notice ["bestest car ever!!!"]. Id say that Hondas CVTs are as good as Toyotas, and much better than the droning, straining designs that Suburu makes. Overall, the new Civic may be a good choice for a first time car buyer, or as a second car if you already own a better one. For me, the nail in the coffin is that every trim above the base LX model comes with a moonroof. You get one, whether you want it or not. Will it leak? Maybe it will, maybe it wont. Youll just have to find out - and when, several years down the road - that Civic that you bought for its "unsurpassed" reliability starts dripping water on your head and filling the cabin with rapidly growing, fragrant mold, youll be scratching that very same [now moist] head that had led you to make the purchase. As for Honda - nice demonstration of corporate wisdom.

  • Great car, worst Bluetooth ever!! - 2016 Honda Civic

I thought it was odd that they removed the AUX audio port, but dealing with a horrible Bluetooth phone conversation makes this car hard to recommend. Also active lane assist is a bit choppy.

  • Great performance, horrible customer service. - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased this car a few months ago. Super smooth, great performance, and great design. Purchased the car brand new. AC did not work since day one. Honda tried to repair this issue three times without luck. The lane assist camera goes off every once in a while. Tire pressure sensor needs calibration often. The car is considered a lemon, but Honda ignores my calls. I have left voicemails to various managers without any luck. No call backs, no resolution. I purchased this car to avoid the hassle of repairs, maintenance, etc, but this car has been faulty since day one.

  • Great Car But! - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

Honda did a amazing job in 2016 Civic touring Model, which i leased in February 2016. On $27000.00 Price tag and no memory seat, no seat cooling option for driver seats annoying. Cheap Tablet in the name of Infotainment system and Navigation, which is gives you a wrong directions5 out of 10 times, GPS never calibrate for the first 5 minutes. Clock never sync always stuck on previous time. Otherwise its a great car.

  • Typical Honda - 2016 Honda Civic

Its another buzzy four cylinder overpriced import. The car magazines will gush over it initially, then back off in a couple of years. Hondas reputation for reliability is well deserved and is a big plus. But the car is small and feels cramped. It does handle well. The tech is good, especially blind spot detection. For the same money you can get a nice Kia Optima or Mazda3 or Mazda6 even. They deserve to be driven too.

  • Research the DEALER as much as the car! - 2016 Honda Civic

The cabin of this car is small and is not conducive of 5 people traveling. I am 54" and if I position my driver seat to comfort my driving. I can not comfortably fit in the backseat. The cup holders are small, although there is a larger one underneath there is only one, that is usable only if the smaller tray is removed. The compartments in the door can not hold even a water bottle. The USB connection underneath the radio is apparently not compatible with (HTC, Galaxy, IPhone), although it worked fine for the first month! The other USB port is a 1.5 port and it takes a lengthy period of time to charge anything. The stereo has been beeping and switching screens since two months after I purchased it (bought in April 2016). Between two dealerships here was an update done on the stereo and low and behold....same problem. The dashboard houses a loading circle everyday which prohibits me from seeing the speed and every other feature of the the dash screen. HONDA CORP AND THE DEALERS HAVE DONE NOTHING AND NOW I FIND MYSELF IN A LAWSUIT TO REPLACE A STEREO. ***UPDATE: As of July 2017 my stereos parts have finally, finally been replaced. I have waited over a year and half to have this fixed which is scream for help as far as Honda standing by their product. Furthermore, I have been having trouble as an expecting mom with the height of vehicle (sits too low), and the room in the vehicle is barely sufficient to hold an infant car seat and use the front seat properly. a reduction of the trunk to add more space to the cabin would be a PLUS!!!
