Owned a Civic before this one. So many more nice standards on this one - back-up camera, keyless entry, automatic climate control - I love it!

  • Honda please address the audio software issues!!! - 2016 Honda Civic
    By -

Im so glad I found the civicx.com forum and the many owners with my same 2016 Honda Touring issues (http://www.civicx.com/threads/loud-popping-noise-upon-startup-touring.1279/). After reading, if you have the same issue, please post there and also contact Honda technical support to hopefully get them to address this widespread and very "unpublicized" issue. I just purchased my Touring 6 days ago - March 2016, and have been to the dealership 2x, and have to figure out how to take it back AGAIN tomorrow. According to other owners on civicx.com, I can look forward to dozens of more visits that do not result in any type of long term "fix". First the charging port unit was broken (used to be called a cigarette lighter). Apparently it was installed wrong. They also had to address my Bluetooth issue- where when playing music the audio drops, sounds choppy and skips over and over and over in the song, and also the issue where there is absolutely no sound when starting the car from time to time. Mind you, I experienced all of these issues within the first 4 hours of having the car!! The day after my purchase, I dropped off my new Touring to the service department. Three days later service tells me they couldnt replicate the audio issues, but that they called Honda Technical Support who advised there is no issue. So in the end they refreshed the system and let me know it should be fine now. Nope. Not 10 minutes after driving off the lot it happened again. I took it back and they sat with me and confirmed the issue WAS there and indeed was VERY annoying. They said that the Honda techline advised that now since the service department tech has replicated the issue, they can confirm its a KNOWN issue that requires a software update that they havent produced yet. I was told that I will need to call consistently to see if an update has been created, and in the meantime to avoid Bluetooth and use CarPlay for audio and sent on my way. The next day I experienced the no audio issue again at start up. One day after that I get that full volume power surge popping sound that blasted my ears and Im sure my speakers are damaged because of it!!! It didnt matter what source of audio it was set to (Bluetooth, AM, FM, XM, CarPlay), or whether or not I turned the audio off, and didnt stop even after pulling over and restarting/shutting down/restarting the car. After one last huge pop it finally stopped but left me with absolutely NO audio for my 2 hour drive - I had to use my earbuds and cellphone for music! I now have to make yet ANOTHER drive to Honda to get service to look at it again and at least document my issues in case future action is necessary. Im glad Im not the only one going through this with their brand new Civic Touring, but to know so many have the same issues with the Touring is really unnerving. No idea why is there no coverage on this publicly so that it lights a fire under Honda to get more resources allocated towards fixing these major issues!!! We paid extra for the better speakers, audio and technology, but are unable to use them from day 1 with no fix in sight. To now have to consider bringing a little speaker with me to hook to my iPhone in order to get music on my sometimes 1-2 hour commutes is unbelievable and should be taken seriously by Honda. My ultimate hope is that the speakers are covered under warranty because Im sure thats going to come in handy soon with the sporadic high volume popping. I still think the car itself is absolutely beautiful, but I am disgusted with Honda at this point because the issue has been happening to people on the civicx.com forum since December 2015!! My hope is the more this issue is publicized, the harder Honda will work to fix it, or do a recall for the affected cars (not sure if all are affected).

  • Honda Civic vs. Toyota Prius - 2016 Honda Civic

Having been a loyal Toyota Prius customer for over 10 years, I was anxiously awaiting the newly-styled 2016 model. When few Prius models were in stock at the beginning of 2016, I wanted to take a look at other models such as the Honda Civic which I owned 15 years ago. I took a a test ride of the Civic and was really impressed with its features, specially its Honda Sensing ones. I was already aware that I wanted the new Prius to have a strong safety technology package. Upon closer inspection I realized that the Civic actually had more safety features than the Prius. But the deciding factor was that the Touring model was priced about $3000 less than the Prius comparably equipped. With the Civic, the only thing I was missing was the Prius great MPG rating. But that $3000 savings would buy a lot of gas! On a day in early January I visited 2 Honda dealers just on a scouting mission not planning to buy. But after the second dealer, I pulled the trigger and bought the Touring model that includes so many features found on luxury cars: leather seats, moonroof, safety package, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto just to name a few. Why would I ever go back to the Prius?

Great looking car, both inside and out. Im very pleased with the ride- much more planted and quieter than older civics. Found out you need an IPhone 5 at least- so I am without music so far. Would a CD player kill ya Honda??

I should have always owned Hondas.. civic ex-t definitely turns heads.. love it love it love it

  • Great Car with Annoying Touch Screen Display Fault - 2016 Honda Civic

Buy this car with a good warranty, The Handsfree Phone Link with the iPhone 7 could be better. I cannot skip forward on Audio Books using the car controls. Defective Touch Screen was replaced within one day by Dealer free of charge. Too bad there is no indication that the new replacement is any different then the bad unit before it went bad. I highly recommend this vehicle as it rides smooth and gets super gas mileage. MPG starts at 30 when cold and goes to 35MPG after 5mins of warming up in the city then I have seen over 45MPG on the highway while still providing significant acceleration. Short couple mile city trips I still get over 30MPG. Its easy to AVG 35MPG. Turbo Engine uses regular fuel. The quick Fuel feature is so nice, no gas cap needed. Compared to the old 2007 Honda Civic I had this is more comfortable, better MPG, Faster, Quieter and all around better. Honda just needs to address the electronic quality issues. You get a lot for your money when buying a car that sell over 300,000 units per year including easy cheap maintenance costs. Also that makes for more negative comments as for the same percentage of defect rate there are more cars so I would not let that scare people away.

  • Fan fricking tastic car. - 2016 Honda Civic

Best bang for the buck currently on the market plus Hondas lease deals leave you scratching your head wondering how the company is making any money at all. I cant say enough good things about this car and its hard to criticize much of anything. The good. Honda hit a home run IMO when it comes to styling, comfort, and just being a darn fun car to drive. Oh. Its cheap too. Fuel economy is through the roof. The CVT is just fine, it shifts the car better than you can. Acceleration is more than pleasant, bordering on giggly fun. If you want brutal youre gonna have to go buy a Charger Hellcat or similar. Dont expect a Civic to compete with that. My gripes are few. Two to be exact. Visibility out the rear window could be a little better (but its still not too bad) and the GUI for the touch screen radio .... interface .... thing was apparently designed by an engineer and not a normal, ya know, person. Good luck finding a radio station. Or the radio for that matter. The volume knob is actually for climate control. huh. ok. The steering wheel mounted buttons work far better and are easy to use thankfully.
