  • Reliable commuter car - 2000 Toyota Corolla

Not the flashiest of vehicles, but definately the most reliable car I have driven. I bough my car used with 23k miles on it in 03, and have put about 25k miles a year on it driving between WA and OR states. Not a single problem. Engine power isnt bad, and fuel economy is awesome. I get about 40 mpg on the hwy with my 5 sp manual.

This is a reasonable car to own if you dont want something too big but not too small, as passanger space is quite appropriate. The newer model is even better. Fuel mileage is an obvious advantage (30-40 mpg). The stereo system is more impressive than I thought it would be and the ergonomics are well thought out, although the cup holder is poorly designed. Two really annoying things are the locks and light. You can never turn the lights off unless the engine is off and the car automatically locks even if not in gear.

I bought this car new because I have always heard about Toyota dependability. Gas was never 30 mpg as advertised. I have had problems with the oil. Several times, the oil light would not be on but when I checked it or the oil was changed, nothing showed on the stick. I have had the engine checked several times but they did not detect any leak. Finally, someone determined the valve cover gasket was leaking. Now I have had the valve cover gasket changed several times to no avail--I put in oil almost every time I use it. Also inside handles on all 4 doors have broken off. I have owned some pretty old cars, but never had all the door handles break off. I would not buy it again.

  • Never let me down - 2000 Toyota Corolla

I got my 2000 toyota corolla when i was 19 for my first car and i just now (4 years later) got rid of it because it was to small, i have a baby now and the backseat is not very big. Besides the lack of space my corolla was awesome, only thing i ever had to to do was routine maintenance! Awesome first car. If your not worried about space i definitely recommend a corolla cant beat toyota reliability!

  • I love my corolla! - 2000 Toyota Corolla

I totaled my new 98 corolla my freshman year of college (I wasnt hurt a bit though). We replaced it with 2000 corolla. I loved both cars. My little white "curla" has lasted me more than I would imagine. I drove it all through college, back and forth to work, and now, 9 years later, I have a carseat for my little boy in there, and commute 150 miles/day. And its still just right for me. I have over 200,000 miles on it, have rear ended someone, hit a deer, and its still tickin. Plus, Im not looking to get rid of it any time soon, and when I do, I just might look at another corolla.

This car is fabulous. If you ever want to know what kind of car to buy, all you have to do is ask a car salesman. Well, I sell cars and this is my car. Its comfortable, the gas mileage is incredible and I know that I wont have any major problem because its a Toyota.

No major problems with the corolla.

  • Great car for the money. - 2000 Toyota Corolla

I bought this car used from a Ford Dealer and it has given me no problems as of yet. The build quality and reliability are amazing, Being young I have rode in many other smaller cars and this car just feels like it has been put together well. The 1.8L VVT- i engine is on par with its competetors. It has far more torque than a civic, and the power comes on down low. Lets not be mistaken this car is no rocket, but if driven right its no slouch. I have the 4 speed auto and it shifts smoothly. To sum up this car in one word it would be smooth. I recomend this car to anyone who needs a good reliable car at an extremely afordable price.
