Cheap original parts - 1999 Nissan Maxima
By kievguy - August 8 - 2:00 amI am the original owner, soon to be 4 years. The car is good, no questions about it. Main source of the problems - cheap and low-quality original parts that owner is responsible for. Tires wore out in 30K, clutch in about 48K of highway driving!!! A lot of people I know have the same problems: Nissan produces Maxim cheaper by pushing extra maintenance over owners. Beware!!!

Maintanence is too expensive - 1999 Nissan Maxima
By kievguy - February 23 - 10:00 amI have 99 Maxima SE Limited 5 speed for more then 3 years. The car is comparable to Camry and Accord that I had before but cost way too much in maintenance. Looks like its Nissans way to compete with big guys like Toyota and Honda - for customers expense. Look at new Edmunds topic True Cost to Own and compare to other similarly priced cars. I would not buy another Nissan, period.

3rd Time Wasnt a Charm - 1999 Nissan Maxima
By I miss my Stanza - December 5 - 10:00 amThis Nissan was my 3rd product, and it will be my last. Although nothing major went wrong, little stuff did. Examples, engine is so heavy, I had to replace all four tires by 20K miles; found out just before the lease turn in that I had had a bad throttle from the first day I drove it off the lot and it wasnt covered under warranty; a 35K miles, the trunk is already rusting.
