This Year's Model Updates:

The Hyundai Sonata is redesigned for 2015 with a more refined look and a larger cabin. A new Eco trim level with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine also debuts, although the more powerful 2.0T trim level has nearly 30 fewer horsepower.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride
  • Lots of standard and optional features for the money
  • Quiet and roomy interior
  • Solid build quality.
Cons:
  • Sweeping roof line compromises headroom for taller passengers.
  • Disappointing acceleration from Sport 2.0T

  • The Quiet Blue Storm - 2015 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I formerly owned a 2013 Sonata dubbed Blue Storm. After 55,000 miles of hard commuting and three bad drivers hitting her, she was still a rock solid car although cursed with attracting bad drivers. Hyundai was offering aggressive incentives so I decided to test drive a 2015. But after using Edmunds price quote service and running some numbers, I took a 2015 Sonata home. And the improvements are very noticeable. Particularly with the interior, ride, and noise levels. Overall it drives more confidently and feels more solid than my 2013. A 2.4 Sport with premium package or 2.4 Limited with few options is the best model to get to match this cars persona, 2.0T not worth the extra money.

  • 15,000 Mile Review - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

Ive had this car for about 8 months, 15,000 miles, and not a single problem. It is very comfortable, theres minimal road noise, and highway fuel economy is great. Its been very reliable thus far, only needing routine maintenance. We also have a 2015 Toyota Camry in the family, and this vehicle trounces the Camry in nearly every way. The interior materials are better, the ride is better, MUCH less road noise, etc. The push button start, proximity key, automatic climate control, heated seats, etc. in a sub $25,000 car is a phenomenal value. Im still enjoying my Sonata as much as I did the day I drove it home. Go check it out!

  • Hidden Gem - 1.6T ECO - One hell of a sprinter - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

After considering Accord, Camry, Fusion, Altima and Mazda 6, I chose Sonata ECO. This is my first Hyundai purchase, and boy Hyundai came a long way. Its up there with Honda and Toyota now - Hyundai is better than many Japanese and American brands, when it comes to FWD sedans. MPG - I can put this car in "SPORT" mode and floor the gas pedal all I want and still get 30MPG. Using cruise control at 80MPH, I can get 34MPG all day long. With little light footwork and drive conservatively, I hit 40MPG regularly. I measured 0-60 myself, and consistently get under 7 sec. This is a new model so I cant speak for reliability, but hyundai reliability is up there among the best.

  • Keep away......here my warnings - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

This car is the MOST UNreliable car Ive owned in over 40 years!!! This thing has standed me hundreds of miles from home TWICE in two years!! First, Fayetteville NC...fuel injectors...gone! A twenty something kid b/sing me ..."oh yeah parts are on the way ..tomorrow ...NOT!! 5 lovely days ....hotel meals and lots of $$$$. Hyundai did reimbursed me $290.. Out of the $700+ it cost me to interrupt my trip......THIS time Im in Boston 1500 miles from home and the crank shaft seal goes...oil all over!!! I thought Fayetteville was bad! Boston IS very expensive to have to stay around! $$$$$. Parts to fix the car.?...Im 7 days into this...."MAYBE end of the week...MAYBE first of next week!!!! Im sure Hyundai will reimburse me their standard $300 for 3 days! Im into this problem over a grand now...and theyre fixing the car for free!! What a piece of JUNK!!!

My car is suppose to get 23/32 MPG but no matter how I drive, Eco, Normal or Sport, baby driving...coasting to red lights in city and doing 75 hwy, I consistently come in 4 MPG less both city & hwy. I have tested the computer read by the old fashioned way of spending down the fuel and then filling back up, tracking the mileage. I have done Octane additives at the suggestion of the Hyundai service advisor. I took in to get the cars computer system checked. They just want to blow it off as did the Hyundai America customer service. When I read reviews on the Turbo 2.0 Sport limited, I see every so often drivers mentioning their mileage at what I am suppose to get yet am not. I figure at $2.50 per gallon this will cost me about $300 a year! Not happy and not done complaining. Now, for the rest of the car, it is awesome for the money. I have used numerous times all the tech stuff on this Ultimate package that comes on the Sport Turbo limited. Very impressive. I hear complaints on the pick up but I am telling you that if you throw into tiptronic, you will fly! The smart car technology on cruise is awesome, cross traffic control is incredible, back up cam with sonar, excellent, BSD and BSD oncoming warning is spot on, forward crash avoidance works like advertised!

  • Worst ride ever - 2015 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I have the one with orange seat piping, on Sunday it will be 4 weeks of sheer awful. The ride is so stiff that after 49 minutes my back start hurting. After 2 hrs its not good, go four hours and I cant walk upright for a day and in pain for another two and stiff. I have never in my life had a back problem only in this car. The interior looks like a 90s Pontiac Grand Prix so Im sure most pedestrian amuricans will like it. The exteriors look good except the creases cause hwy wind buffeting like a Yaris, I utterly hate it and Im trading it in, the cars not worth 20k in the top line let alone 34 msrp.

  • PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR FOR YOUR OWN GOOD! - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

Look up all the Hyundai Sonata Class Action Lawsuits and research before you purchase this vehicle. My vehicle is a 2015 and in 2 years and less than 55000 miles my engine gave up. Hyundai wishes to wash their hands clean of this with me and the dealership says their hands are tied even though I STILL HAVE WARRANTY!

I purposely did not buy the car with a turbo. Turbos require closer attention to oil changes and should be idled before shut down to cool the turbo before the car is turned off. This is my wifes car and all she wants to do is drive comfortably from point A to point B and not think about the car. This is the perfect car for her, stylish, comfortable, safe and easily controlled. Lots of room in the cabin for her students and all the books and paperwork she carries with her. Plenty of room in the trunk for trips to see the kids and grandkids and most important of all.... she is happy with the car. She has the Limited with the Ultimate package with the 2.4 L engine and 6 sped trans. I liked the car so much that I bought myself a 2016 Sonata Sport with the Tech package 2.4L with 6 speed trans. All I can say is I love my car also.

  • Want to Love it. - 2015 Hyundai Sonata

I purchased the Sonata Eco with the tech package. I am a 64" tall and weight around 240. I purchased this car because I felt the vehicle fit me well and was built with quality. I have owned the car for about 6 months and have liked it but not loved it. My main complaint is with the driver seat. I am still not comfortable in the seat, though it is getting better. When I drive it for an extended period (up to a 1/2 hour) I get out with upper back pain. This has been very frustrating. I have loved MPG I am getting with the vehicle. If I have the vehicle in ECO mode and drive conservatively I can get 40 mpg on the freeway. I purchased the vehicle for around 24K the price dropped to around 23K a couple of months after I purchased it.
