  • Sonata Stalls on the Road - 2011 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I purchased my new Sonata 2.0T in the middle of June and just loved it until this week. We were coming to a stop and the car stalled out and we coasted to the stop. I noticed that there were 2 warning lights on - engine and another one. The car was idling but there was not throttle response. Nothing. I turned it off and then restarted it. Now only the engine light was on and the throttle had response. The dealer found codes 2118 & 2110 but couldnt find the problem. They just erased the codes. This is a safety item for sure. If I was on the highway and this happened, we could have been rear ended. This car had less than 1500 kms. Beware!

Ive had my 2011 Sonata SE for just a few weeks now so this is just a preliminary note. Car is BEAUTIFUL -- iridescent silver blue pearl is simply awesome. What wasnt awesome was getting 20 mpg (mostly highway) from my first tankful.

  • Great Style and Value but.... - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

The car is awesome for the price.. its not as quiet as some say, seems to have less sound deadening material than the previous model..too much tire noise. XM radio should be ditched in favor of Sirius. I didst want to spend another 40K on my next car with how much I drive (25-30k)annually. This cars style, warranty, room and fuel economy won my over. The Engine does have some decent power. Most of my commute is up and down a 20 mile stretch of highway that encompasses a 2000ft change in elevation..even on the grade I still get 31mpg.. my last car got 18 so I am loving this more than anything else right now.

  • What an Amazing Car - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

I love this car! It has a ton of standard features, handles great, nice power, and best of all is the quality. Inside and out my $22500 car looks like it cost well over $30000. At least a dozen people have mentioned how great this car looks at random places, and thats only in 3 weeks!

I picked up the 2011 Sonata SE with Pkg 4 (Nav and Sunroof) at $24,600.00 plus tax, tags, title, doc (total price: $26,657.00) a couple of days ago. I drove about 180 miles back home (NJ) from the dealer (MD). This car is beautiful and drives like dream. Its got everything: tight cornering, good suspension, very well laid interior design, beautiful gauge cluster, very well integrated navigation system and very well appointed seats. This car accelerates with grace and reaches 80-100 in no time. Mercedes, The is the first (family) car that ever excited me in driving. Luxury brand cars such as Lexuses on the road looked silly and ugly as I enjoyed Sonatas ride and beauty on the trip back.

  • 2011 Sonata GLS Review - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

My wife and I had planned on buying a Honda Accord but our son told us about the new 2011 Sonata (and the good report that Consumer Reports had) so we went to our Hyundai dealer to look at it. My wife immediately fell in love with the Sonata. The lines on the car and the outstanding paint/clear coat were outstanding. The test drive was great. It drove extremely smooth, had plenty of power, and had every feature I ever wanted (Bluetooth with buttons on the steering wheel, satellite radio+AM/FM/CD and USB port). The 6-speed automatic also has a shiftronic feature (you can shift the car manually by tapping the shifter forward or backward). I got 30 MPG (mostly city) on my first tank. Great car!

I have only had this car one week and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! There is not one negative thing I can say. I did many hours of research and test drove 5 cars before I made this decision. I drove the Ford Fushion, Ford Taurus, Nissan Altima, Chevy Malibu and the 2011 Sonata GLS and SE. The Sonata kicked butt in every way from style interior and exterior to performance to warranty to price!!

Ive only driven my new Hyundai Sonata SE for a few days now, but the only thing I can say about it is: IMPRESSIVE. I love the style, both exterior and interior, the ride, and most of all, the PRICE! Looks like its time for Toyota and Honda to take a back seat to Hyundai! When I went to the dealer I was undecided between GLS or SE, but as soon as I rode in the SE, I knew that was the one. SMART KEY/Push Button Start, Paddle Shifters, Dual Exhaust, Chrome, Leather Seat Bolsters, etc. Amazing! I live in a rural area, and drive only 20 minutes to work, and right off the lot Im getting 28 miles to the gallon. I just cant say enough about this car.

  • Looks Great! Drives So So - 2011 Hyundai Sonata

I have my Sonata for 6 months now and still find the styling inside and out to be a real eye-catcher. However, driving the car is a completely different experience. I have complained to the dealer twice in 3000 miles about the poor shifting and jerky acceleration during normal driving. The transmission slips and jerks on most upshifts. The road noise and handling can certainly use improvement. Too much tire noise and car tends to wander. It does, however, get excellent gas mileage both around town (28 mpg) and on the highway (36.5 mpg)
