The Elantra received a slight refresh for this year in the form of a new hood, deck lid, front and rear bumpers, grille, headlamps and taillights. Interior revisions include a redesigned instrument cluster, vents, center console and climate controls. The engine has been fitted with continuously variable valve timing, and it is now sold in SULEV or ULEV configurations (depending on the state in which it's purchased) which offer horsepower ratings of 138 and 132, respectively. The base GLS model now offers remote keyless entry as standard equipment, while GT models now have a Kenwood CD/MP3 audio system as standard.

- Poor offset crash test score, antilock brakes available only as a package option.

I had a Mazda Protege for 9 yrs and rode a Toyota Corolla for a short period of time and I must say I love the Elantra the best. Even my sister who commutes with me to work daily, feels the Elantra is much more attractive than the 2003 Corolla I was driving and 10 x better than the 1995 Mazda I had for the last 9 yrs. I have no regrets in buying this car. The price is no comparison to the value.

By Trish - June 5 - 12:55 pmI have had one repair in 20 months of ownership! I have 75000 miles on this car and my only complaint is that It just wont break down and give me an excuse to buy a luxury car! LOL I get 26 miles per gallon even without cruise control.

I noticed that the 2004 model has a revised interior, making it equal to or better than the competition. We are so very impressed!

The gas mileage is ok (24 mpg city and up to 30 mpg highway). Im a fanatic about maintenance, but, great quality at a good price. Thanks Hyundai for this baby!
