This is my 5th Civic. The Lumbar is killing me on my daily 88 mile roundtrip commute. There is no adjustment on the LX seats. I traded a 2012 Civic and had no problems with it. I am 62, 185 pounds. Shorter people have tried my car with no issues. My son has a 2007 Civic with no problems. I may have to trade cars with him. The power, ride, steering are a step up from the 2012 LX. Materials are also much better. The center console is quite large, and stuff gets lost under the sliding cupholder. The center guage is to cluttered. The EX is much better desighn. The LX guage must have been an afterthought. The stereo is also inferior to my previuos 2009, and 2012. No midrange. I would recommend taking this car on a long ride before you buy. Maybe find one to rent. As much as I love Honda, I will have to look elsewhere.

  • There are better options out there - 2017 Honda Civic

The new Civic hatchback looks nice, but thats about it. It is very difficult to get in and out of. The seats are not very comfortable. I realize that it is a small car, but the interior is cramped compared to other small cars. It seems as if there is not enough sound insulation in the car, as the engine is very noisy. The climate controls are not readily accessible: the fan speed control is in a separate menu within the touch screen and is not centrally located. (A button or knob would be easier to use.) The cloth on the cargo cover looked to be snagged/uneven. The car is very over priced at $27,000+. You can buy a hybrid vehicle, which is more economic, for less than this non-hybrid Civic.

  • Dangerous instrumentation - 2017 Honda Civic

Im no tech phobe, but the controls on this car are not intuitive, difficult to use and I believe actually dangerous. The climate and audio controls are almost all on the touchscreen. You must look at the screen to find the place to touch to make changes. (When driving theres no way to feel that youve made the right selection.) There are too many controls on the left side of the steering wheel. I think these could be better located. It is ridiculous that the side view mirrors dont have the flashing lights when the blinkers are turned on. (This feature is pretty common in a lot of other cars and not limited to the high end option packages like Honda has done here.) Instead theyve put a camera on the passenger side view mirror that is activated when you put on the right blinker. so instead of looking over your shoulder or to the right, they are encouraging the driver to look down at the touch screen when changing lanes. ( I have found this camera somewhat useful when parallel parking to determine if Im close enough to the curb). Lastly, if you own an iPhone, you cant have an incoming text message read to you aloud, but messages on Androids can be read aloud. I am impressed with the Econo setting. I find no difference in driving performance so I keep it on all of the time...and I like to accelerate quickly on freeways and live in a hilly area.
