  • HONDA - a love/hate relationship - 2002 Honda CR-V

I have owned 2 other hondas prior to this one and I am sad to say it is the black sheep of the bunch. As my family grew so did our need to move into a larger car than my 1996 civic. My old civics have been as reliable as nothing else Ive owned. The CRV seemed like a sure bet. My first year was trouble free as expected from a Honda. On our second summer the ac blew out! I thought I just had one of those RARE little problems and would probably never happen again. Just this Sept. my AC started to make those same sounds again before it blew up! My other civics 220000+ miles and no problems yet! I should have bought another civic! Honda made the best and worst cars Ive owned. I love/hate Hondas.

  • Comparison to 98 - 2002 Honda CR-V

Since I love my 98 CRV, I convinced my husband to trade in his 99 V6 Camry for the 2002 CRV! Since I drive both of them, I can point out the improvements/nonimprovements with 2002; Power! My husband is very satisfied with the 4-cyl 2002 CRV. Believe it or not, thats about it! Many other features have been changed in 2002 but not for the better. The Bridgestone tires that came with it are TERRIBLE during cornering on wet roads. We took them off at 7200 miles and put my used Michelins on them. Much better (but noisier). I have a tendency to overstear on the 2002 - I like the stearing on the 98 better.

  • Forever a Honda Owner - 2002 Honda CR-V

Im a previous Accord/Civic/3 time Passport Owner. The 2002 CRV attracted my attention when they redesigned the interior/exterior and made it more powerful. I too experience the clicking noise and really notice it when at a drive-up MAC machine or in the drive thru at McDs or BK. What is this Honda???? The front passenger side got cheated for leg room but; hey, I never sit there... I love the reclining rear seats! The CRV has lots more storage room than the Passport. I still have not experienced the listed gas mileage. I trust Hondas reliability because I do not have time to take a vehicle to the shop!

  • Ehhhhh........ - 2002 Honda CR-V

Well OK my review is really random but its true this car is random. A lot to love and a lot to hate. My wife bough a 2001 RAV4, and this year I bought a new CRV. She loves her car but I cant say do mine. Im sorry but th RAV is more fun to drive and feelsmore modern. I guess I was expecting more from Honda, they delivered whatver you woul want at a great price, but the car just lacks charisma. I FEEL OLD DRIVING IT! My recomendations is get a RAV.....

  • Gotta Love It - 2002 Honda CR-V

When looking for my second car, I knew I needed something with a lot of cargo space and good fuel economy. Of course I also wanted something stylish and fun to drive. I found that in my CR-V! Its got enough room to haul my bands equipment to shows when Ive got the rear seats folded up. The iV-TEC engine has enough power to satisfy throttling down the interstate. And it has plenty of room to carry my friends from place to place! So far the only issue Ive had is the glove compartment light stays on all the time the switch isnt catching.

  • Great SUV, The right size. - 2002 Honda CR-V

Just perfect for everyday use. Honda quality, great gas mileage, although we would love a hybrid CRV. More than enough power for highways, climbing, everything, we have never wished for more power! We did have an after market leather added, a really nice addition!

The check engine light has been on since we bought the car. The dealership tried 3 times to correct it but finally said the company was aware of the problem and would advise as soon as there was a solution. We are still waiting. We have received 2 recalls on it so far for other minor things. I bought a Honda over other brands because I was looking for a trouble free car. Granted, these are fairly minor problems but I was expecting more. I would not buy another one. I have had Subarus in the past and should have stayed with them.....just didnt like the styling of the Forester.

  • HOT under the collar without A/C - 2002 Honda CR-V

The car was fine until the warranty ended. After that it was one repair and the other. The final straw is the estimated $2500 to replace the entire AC System since the compressor blew pieces of metal all in the system. This is clearly a manufacturer defect. The dealer said that Honda will not pay because of the age of the car.

re: review of John Miller of March 6,2002, have experienced the same problem with the drivers seat. Feet begin to go numb after driving for awhile. I am 62". Also, back aches after driving it for not that long a period
