  • Nickys Review - 2002 Honda CR-V

My last 3 vehicles were Toyotas and I said I would never get anything else, but after test driving the CR-V and comparing it to the RAV4 I changed my mind. The CR-V is more comfortable, has a smoother ride, and the price was better and included more standard options. Not so good is the noise coming from my brakes. It only happens after the car has been sitting for a while and I push on the brakes for the first time. The dealership said a "clicking or groaning" noise is normal, but I consider it a loud "clunking" noise.

Bought our CRV new. Have had it now for almost 7 years, it has 117,000 miles on it and still going. It had one major repair (Carburator) last year. Other than that, no major repairs. A good record in my opinion. It has started all winter except when it was more than -20. But my spouses new car didnt start either. Right now the engine light is on and we cant really resolve that matter. Given the age and mileage on it, it is to be expected I guess. My one negative thing is the paint finish. Ours is gold and has chipped in places since early on. We were told it was not a defect. Dont believe that. Very reliable. Have always gotten to where I needed to go.

  • Outstanding Vehicle! - 2002 Honda CR-V

I love my new Honda Crv so much...I have not found one thing wrong with it. It has a lot of power, the design is beautiful inside and out. I looked at the Ford Escape, Mazda Tribute, and the Toyota Rav 4...and the CRV beat them all. I did have to pay sticker price though, they wouldnt come off even $10...and basically said, if I didnt want to pay that, someone else would so they didt care much. They are being sold before they are even on the lot! The wait is about 3 weeks. I think the Crvs are well worth the msrp price. I highly recommend this vehicle!

  • After 10,400 miles - 2002 Honda CR-V
    By -

Weve waited until after 10,400 miles in about 4 months. The thrill of buying a new vehicle has worn off, and reality has set in. Overall, we still think we got a great vehicle. We had the dealer to install: 1. window visors 2. mudflaps 3. a hard spare wheel cover (This was a major disappointment. The new hard cover for 2002 is nothing more than a "trash can lid". Save your money and go with the standard fabric cover - its not only cheaper - but it looks nicer. Small dings are in the hard plastic used to cover the columns near the doors - caused by unbuckling the seat belt and just letting it fly back on its own speed.

  • Life is one compromise after another - 2002 Honda CR-V

I agree with many of the other reviews. After much research, mostly at edmunds.com, I felt the CR-V (LX) was the best vehicle on paper. Finding one for sale at a decent price was almost impossible (I had to pay MSRP, and felt lucky at that). Great ride; very car-like, not as "busy" or choppy as the RAV-4. Engine is quiet, smooth and NO TIMING BELT! Great leg room, especially in back. Plenty of room with fold-up seats

  • Minor complaints - 2002 Honda CR-V

I have 7,500 miles on mine. Dependable E solid. Quite a bit of wind noise around the A pillar. We barely average 22 mpg in mixed city & highway driving. Storage, the table, & the CD player are great. However, no need for a picnic table - rather have the spare tire there. The check engine light came on after 5,000 miles. At first the dealer was reluctant to look at it and claimed that the problem was due to not tightening the gas cap. I finally took it to the dealer and they adjusted the engines computer program. No problems since. I also test drove a Ford Escape. Not near as solid, but more cargo space. Quality led me to the CRV.

  • Great SUV good gas and comfy - 2002 Honda CR-V

This is the 3rd Honda CR-V I have had. It is a great vehicle dependable and a miser on gas. I have gone from Arizona to San Diego in just about a tank of gas. Mine came with 6-disc changer moonroof and all wheel drive. I have taken mine skiing and the 4wheel drive was a nice feature. I didnt get stuck and I was impressed.

  • Kents Excelent CRV adventure - 2002 Honda CR-V
    By -

WOW! I love this thing!!!! Its cool looking, fun to drive and rides and drives like a bigger and more expensive psuedo SUV. After having owned a Toyota 4Runner, Land Cruiser and an assortment of other 4 wheel and 2 wheel drive cars including a 1991 black Accord EX 4 door with a 5 speed (loved it). Great Interior space for a 6 footer, but lacks more comfortable (adjustable) seats, better bolstering and it lacks a real Dead Peddle

  • My YUPPIE Mobile - 2002 Honda CR-V

Sante Fe cramped my legs & pinched my butt. The Rav4 was cute, fun, expensive & noisy. The CR-V had the quieter more powerful engine. Paid full, take it or leave it, sticker price. Drove 45 miles just to test drive. It is no where as fun to drive(or look at)as my old Sube but it does zip along even in the mountains. Turning and parking were what finally impressed me. 1500 miles in 5 weeks. No rattles no problems. Just get in & go. MEasy to get in & out of. 24 mpg mixed driving. Road noise was an issue, dealer upgraded the tires. Its plain, its a Comfortable Runabout Vehicle
