Model Overview:

Few vehicles from overseas manufacturers have garnered as much respect in North America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this status by being glamorous, sexy or thrilling. Instead, Honda just seems to have its finger on the pulse of what Americans value most. Take an Accord for a spin and you'll find it to be comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. It's also backed by strong resale value and a solid reputation for reliability.

You'll find that certain competing sedans and coupes are quicker, more prestigious or simply less expensive than the Accord. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well across a broader range of categories than practically any family-friendly sedan or coupe on the market. When examined from this holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why the Accord has become an automotive icon and remains one of our editors' top recommendations.

  • Thank GOD for Lemon Laws! - 2010 Honda Accord
    By -

Purchased the car in early 2010. In August of that same year it spent 12 days in the shop with engine and PCM problems. In December again back to the dealer for PCM problems. In August of 2011 the engine blew up while driving at 30MPH in residential area. At that point Honda refused to continue fixing the piece of crap. I had to go through all the hoops of the Lemon Law process in order to force them to take it back. Owned it for 26 months.....the car was broken for eight of those

  • I will never buy a Honda again - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

I bought the 2009 Honda Accord Coupe back in September of 2008 thinking it was a smart and economical yet sporty car to get me through college. Well, now more than three years and many bills later I am regretting my decision. The constant squeaking loud brakes (from day 1), replacing my rear brakes three times since my purchase, the electrical issues and the fact that I had to have the battery completely replaced a year later. This car cost close to 30k and I feel like I am driving a Kia or something, the ride is uncomfortable and loud, the passenger airbag only works on an arbitrary basis, the heat/air is horrible & gas mileage is extremely poor! Also had three tire blowouts, weird.

  • Bad Transmission - 2002 Honda Accord
    By -

Purchased a 2002 Accord 4 cyl about a year and a half ago, had about 85,000 miles on it. Before purchasing, took it to a Honda dealership, who checked it out. They said it was in great shape. It now needs a new transmission, with less than 100,000 miles. Ive never had a car with less than 100,000 miles on it need a transmission. But from what Ive heard, this seems to be a recurring problem with these cars. Contacted American Honda, who said they would not help with the repair (You know, Im not the original owner, they have no dealership maintenance records, etc etc). Why should I expect them to own up to a known problem with their cars? Will probably be the last Honda I buy for a while.

  • many issues!!! buyer beware - 2011 Honda Accord

I finally met with the Factory Rep in my area and he verbally ack the shimmy issue but refused to put in writing! Of course, hes not stupid.... [non-permissible content removed]

  • read the long term reliability reviews!! - 2012 Honda Accord
    By -

Dont make the same mistake I did and read the long term reliability consumer reports. The car is GREAT for the first few months (2-3k) and then problems start... I can only speak for my dealer (Sam Swope Honda World) which treated me like I was crazy for reporting a shimmy wheel issue and they werent able to resolve the problem but if you read the Edmunds online forums youll see many similar issues with Accords. I wish Id read all these before deciding to purchase this car.

  • what a mistake - 2012 Honda Accord
    By -

We finally decided to replace my wifes 2001 Camry she always wanted a Honda and took standard 10 minute tes drive she loved it. We picked up the vehicle and after her driving back to work she stated to get extreme back pains which is caused by built in seat restraints, after numerous of dealing with dealership we went to Hond direct and they said nothing they could do and to get rid of car or live with it who wants to take that kind of financial hit so buyer beware make sure take long test ride is this vehicle.

  • Do your research before purchase, lots of complaints! - 2011 Honda Accord
    By -

This will be the last Honda chosen, have also a 2005 model which is a great car. 2011 EX-L 4cyl is more like a lemon, driving 135 highway miles daily, speed 60-75mph, fuel mileage 26-27mpg,no mountains,1 person in the car, has issue with fuel tank when more than half filled you hear fuel splashing in the back giving impression of waterbed in the trunk. Hydroplaning starts at 55 mph with normal rain, rear brake pads wear prematurely, driver seat lumbar defective causing discomfort and requiring to adjust seat constantly to remain in the car. Leather is low quality, exterior appears cheap, "lighting section" left & right to license plate is fake, would not recommend this vehicle.

  • Where has the Honda of old gone? - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

I at one time was a die hard Honda fan. I owned a 1991 CRX, and a 1994 Civic. Both were solid dependable cars. I purchased a 2000 Accord new, and it turned out to be a lemon. I mean literally, I received a payout from Honda on a frequent problem. I decided in 2008 to give Honda another chance, after all, my previous cars were great. Should not have done it. I purchased a new 2008 Accord. Problems started with the transmitters having to be replaced, I needed new rear break pads and a new battery before the car hit 30K. The interior is cheap. The vinal on the console arm rest and door arm rest bubbles up when it is warm outside. Never again Honda, Im going elsewhere.

  • DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! - 2009 Honda Accord
    By -

As you can see from the other reviews this car has reliability issue and the car feels cheap. Theres alots of interior road noise along with too much dash board noise. Alots of stuff squeaks and the car seems cheaper than a KIA. BUT THE MAIN REASON I HATE THIS CAR IS BECAUSE IT HAS NOOOOOOO POWER. This is a heavy car and it only has 190 horse power...really?! My 2001 Camry v4 picks up better. This car SUCKS at picking upeverytime I find myself going over 4000rpm thus messing up my MPG!!! DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! look at the MAxima or altima theyre better!!!!!!

  • Disappointed in Honda - 2008 Honda Accord
    By -

Worst car I have ever owned. Bought this car new and it developed a rattle in the first month. They added insulation around the speakers. Six month check-up required new brakes which I had to pay full cost. I later learned Honda had a brake problem with this car. Before the car was two years old the interior lights "burned out". At two years old the "seat belt light" came on. The dealership did not notice or correct . At three years old they checked the seat belt light and decided the air bag switch was defective and needed to be replace for $500+, at our cost. The air bags had were disabled this entire time (safety feature not working). I bought the Accord for quality. It is not!
