  just turned 1000 miles on 16 platinum btw I am a died in the wool ford customer !! this is my wifes new car wanted luxury and this is close acceleration,ride and handling are great seating comfort not so good leather is hard and seats are too short testing beforehand would have prevented this problem should have had more wood trim and platinum badging on the interior no storeage on the dash for any carryalong stuff. side pockets useless middle console inadequate leather on front bucket seat already wrinkling up overall a fun car to drive but shouldnt be bought as a luxury car but as a nice ford sport utility

  $50k SUV worth $35K - 2016 Ford Explorer

  So the truck is 4 months old with 5700 miles. 2 weeks ago I took it for a long road trip up to Michigans UP, I was actually pretty happy with the trucks performance and overall comfort of passengers and cargo space. However, there are a few things that are popping up and are annoying me. MPG is low but then again I didnt expect it to be great ( it is a big and heavy vehicle) I average 18MPG in combine driving and 21 on the HWY. Not too bad considering Chicagos traffic and me driving a bit on an aggressive side. Interior drivers side floor sill trim is coming loose at the corner. Leather steering wheel starts to peel at the top which is crazy considering the car is only 4 months old. Looks as others had similar complaints. SYNC crashed 3 times ( other then that it really isnt all that bad as people complained about) Front seats suck.... they are too narrow and with stupid bolster so close it digs into my leg driving me crazy. Im 511 about 190lbs. At the end of the day $50k paid for something that really looks as it belongs on $35k cars. Wanted to go back to FORD but now Im starting to regret it.

  Shame on Ford! Faulty Throttle- Dangerous! - 2016 Ford Explorer

  I have a 2016 Explorer with about 15,000 miles on it. Last week when I was coming home from the beach driving over the Robert Moses bridge, the car lost power.The wrench light came on with a message to check the manual. Somehow I managed to cross lanes to get into the right lane. However, there was no safe lane to be in. Cars are driving at a speed between 65-75 mph. There was the railing and the ocean below!! I had my son and his two friends in the car. I was terrified we were going to get hit and go into the ocean! I had my hazard lights on but I think it was difficult for drivers to see in the daylight. Cars had to swerve to avoid hitting me or stop short when unable to get in the middle lane. Luckily no one was hurt, but this could have easily turned out differently. When I brought the car in to be serviced the sales department seemed to be aware of the problem. Turns out the throttle needed to be replaced. Ford needs to correct this problem before someone is seriously injured or killed! Now Im afraid it will happen again.

  Painful front seat and foot-well design - 2016 Ford Explorer

  Great, smooth ride. Wonderful turning radius and nice looks, BUT: The sides of the seats ride high and put pressure on the thighs, and its immediately noticeable and uncomfortable. 62" here but not big, relatives of mine who are much smaller said the same thing immediately. Contributing to the pain, though, is that they redesigned the foot well so that the floor actually inclines back to front and left to right, which puts your ankle and leg at very weird angles, and doesnt allow for a depth of the basin for pivoting over the pedals. The angle of the brake (also too far forward - towards you) and the gas pedal has increased which makes matters worse. They also increased the angle of the dead pedal, and one cant even put a foot on it without it pushing the toes inward --- the walls curve in and effectively make everything near the pedals smaller. I think they did this to open up room back towards the chair but all of the above caused me much pain. I even measured angles, distances, etc. to make sure I wasnt crazy --- Im not. Its sad because its a nice looking car that otherwise would be enjoyable, but ... if you are in pain driving something its a complete loss.

  I NEED to post a review with the rest of the people that have experienced this issue and Hopefully Ford will finally do a recall!! The same issue happened to me this weekend when my family and I (5 people) took a 4hr drive from New Hampshire to New York City. About 2.5hrs into the trip all of a sudden my 2016 Ford Explorer with 8400 miles started sputtering and running rough and I when I pressed on the gas nothing happened and the wrench light, check engine light and air bag light all came on. I had to drift over the breakdown lane on the highway! Luckily it happened where it did, there was a big enough breakdown lane, there are big stretches of the highway that only have jersey barriers and NO breakdown lane. If that was the case a major accident could have happened! So here we are stuck on the side of the highway (Saturday) with basically a brand new SUV, calling AAA and finding a ford dealer that is open. Called about 6 of them and finally found one that was opened past 12:00 noon. Luckily they told me to tow it to them (45mins away) and they will bring it right in because they knew exactly what the issue was since there fixing a lot of them. They said if they cant fix it right then we were pretty much screwed because all the rental car places close at noon. So basically we would have to rent a hotel room and wait till Monday! After waiting on the side of the highway for for AAA to tow the truck, we also needed had a cab pick up my wife, daughter and boyfriend because the AAA truck can only carry 2 people. The cab came first and got them after an hour and my son and I waited the additional 2hrs for AAA, (3hrs waiting). While I was waiting I looked online to see what the issue is and read everybodys review on the same experience happening to them and still NO recall. The dealer ship was able to replace the part (in 15 mins) and get us on our way. This was at 5pm when we should have been in NY by 12:30 so the whole day was ruined. How do I know this wont happen again? The same part was installed not the recall part! The 4hr drive back to New Hampshire was the most stressful i think i have ever been not knowing if my truck will just shut down with no notice on the highway with my family. This experience could have killed us or someone else. Please tell every 2016 Ford Explorer owner you run in to..

  Fix faulty THORTTLE BODY before purchase! - 2016 Ford Explorer

  Purchased this vehicle 3 days ago and the throttle body when out on us as we were getting onto the freeway. We could have be in a serious car accident. FORD is knowingly selling people these cars playing Russian Rullete with you familys safety and lives. The part has been on back order for months and the internet is lighting up on this issue with these cars yet FORD has failed to issue a recall even now. At the dealership they begged me to keep my car because giving me a new one would lose the dealership so much money. Like I give a damn about their profit after they knowingly sold me a vehicle that puts me and my family at risk. Do your research on customer complaints about the SUV and ask that the part be replaced before purchase if you really are shallow like me and still want the car for its sexy body. Or get smart and buy a Toyota.

  Poor Quality Ruins An Otherwise Good Product - 2016 Ford Explorer

  I wanted to be among the first in my neighborhood to get the new 2016 Explorer and so I did. Now I will be among the first not to get another one as my lease is up soon. Here are the problems Ive had which are driving my decision:check engine light goes on at 300 miles, take to dealership, they say its fixed, then it goes back on again. Take it back to dealership, they get it to turn off, then it goes back on again. Now it has remained off. Side auto retract mirrors are a great idea, unfortunately they now creak like haunted house stairs when they retract. Power windows chatter when you press the down button. Dashboard periodically whistles and its not the a/c, its something else. Out of the clear blue, when you lock the door, the drivers seat moves to a fully reclined and fully lifted position, the mirrors move to a weird setting. Lastly, the seats suck. Very uncomfortable and cheap-feeling leather which is showing a lot of wear after only 25,000 miles. It feels like you are sitting on instead of in the seats. Very poor thigh support and I am only about 6 feet tall.

  Dont Explore this Explorer! Throttle Body Fail! - 2016 Ford Explorer

  My wife, 6 year old daughter, and dog almost stranded because of throttle body failure at just over 8,000 miles with no warning. This thing is not safe nor reliable and will most certainly cause death or injury, and Ford already knows its an issue but will not inform or warn you ahead of time. My wife was driving when the vehicle just shut down to an idle on the highway. Luckily it was early and traffic was minimal. The part is on backorder with no estimated time limit for repair. If you plan on traveling or exploring the great outdoors away from home, think again before purchasing the Ford Explorer. It is totally unacceptable for a brand new vehicle to be this unreliable and unpredictable to just shut down anywhere at any time without any warning. Very disappointed in choosing this vehicle I thought would be safe and reliable for my family. Now, even after it gets repaired, I cannot trust or take another chance with it and will be trading it in as soon as I can, even if it means going upside down.

  Another Throttle Body Issue - VERY Dangerous - 2016 Ford Explorer

  My 2016 Explorer only has 7,300 miles and hasnt even had its first oil change yet. Last week, while driving on a major highway at 70mph in the center lane, it just shut off. Im so lucky that I didnt cause an accident. Finally got it working again and was able to get home. The dealer scheduled it for service but didnt seem concerned and it would be a week before they could see it. The next day, it did it again on another major road 4 TIMES. I barely made it home and then called a tow truck. Its been at the dealer now for 6 days. The Throttle Body Sensor is on backorder (probably from so many cases) and they have no idea when it will be in. They would not offer a rental car because I didnt pay for the extended warranty. So not only was this VERY dangerous, Im now without a vehicle for almost a week or more b/c of this. Ford should at least offer a rental car.

  I bought this car brand new in 2015. Its a 2016 model. The other day while driving down the road, the car lost power. It freaked me out because the car is brand new. Come to find out, the throttle body went out. I bought a new car so I wouldnt have to spend my days at the dealer getting it worked on. Well that came back to bite me in the butt. Then, a day later, I noticed my AC isnt cooling properly. Is anyone else having issues??
