This Year's Model Updates:

Dual airbags top the changes for the redesigned Explorer. Integrated child safety seats are optional on four-door models. Exterior changes include new sheet metal, headlights, grille, taillights and side moldings. The Control-Trac four-wheel-drive system automatically sends power to front wheels if it senses rear-wheel slippage. This feature can be locked in for full-time four-wheeling.

I love my 1995. I bought it ten years ago and paid $3,000 for it. In ten years Ive replaced brakes, tires, driver window electric motor. The only problem Ive had is with the dash lights (the lower half wont light up and even though I took it to a dealership and they "fixed" them...a month later they quit working again and the dealership would not fix them for free so I said screw it. The only other issue is that at about 180,000 miles, the OD light started blinking and it would not go into reverse, and it was chunking hard into lower gears. I was told new transmission was needed. Nope. Just a new VSS and clear the codes, and another 40,000 miles later, still going strong!

Bought this used in 5/2010 with 163,000 mi. Two previous owners whod taken great care and kept on top of all maintenance. So far 3,000 mi and only hub bearings and pad/rotor wear. Window motor went out found a Ford specialist mechanic cheap and honest! Impossible to believe but he must have quit Ford and became saved. lol I get a squeak on bumps after driving 1.5 - 2 hrs but goes away. 15 years old and runs like a champ. Gimme this powertarin in a 2010 and Im a happy camper!

I bought this vehicle in February in 2008. Its a 1995 so I was expecting to have to fix some minor things but suprisingly all I had to do was get new tires and a new battery and I was fine. It now has 232,000 miles on it and its still running great! Its my perfect off roading and every day vehicle. I only drive Ford and I love this SUV!

My 1995 Ford Explorer now has 262,000 miles. I have never had ANY major problems with it. I consider it a very GOOD, well built vehicle.

I have driven this car for 11 years with no major problems. Even received free tires when they recalled the Firestones. This has been a great vehicle but with 152,000 miles, I am now thinking of buying a new one.

  • Some Features hard to get on new cars - 1995 Ford Explorer

Best looking Explorer Ford has ever released. The oversize two tone wheel wells and smooth lines make it a gem. Cool features in the 1995 Bauer include: 1) Retractable Antenna 2) Information Center (includes miles to empty, average fuel mileage and oil life remaining) 3) Auto-dimming rear view mirror 4) Compass 5) Two-Way sun visors (front and side) 6) Built-in tissue holder 7) Both driver and passenger power seats. Incredible protection if youre in a head-on collision. I was just in one yesterday. A car was heading the wrong direction on the Interstate. I hit it at about 40-50 MPH, both airbags deployed and I was able to walk away from accident with barely a scratch.

Excellent automobile. Have only had to perform routine maintaince to keep it going strong. I purchased in 1997 with 43000 miles on it. I would like a new pick-up truck but cant bring myself to sell my Explorer. Its just been far to reliable a vehicle over the years.
