This Year's Model Updates:

Other than a new tire-pressure monitor and altered engine management (for reduced torque steer), the Acura TL is mechanically unchanged for 2006. As with all 2006 Acura cars, there is a longer powertrain warranty for the TL. It now provides six years/70,000 miles of protection. New SAE testing procedures have dropped the TL's horsepower rating from 270 to 258.

Pros:
  • Luxurious interior, long list of standard equipment, powerful V6 engine, slick-shifting six-speed manual, pleasant blend of ride comfort and fun, superb sound system.
Cons:

  • BMW vs TL - which one? - 2006 Acura TL

I have had a BMW 328/330Ci over the last 10 years. I almost purchased the 2006 330i, agonized and "setteled" for the TL as it was $10k cheaper. First, if you like to drive hard in the country or town, the BMW cant be touched, period. After that, the TL is the best combination of value, reliability, performace that I have found. As I drive mostly highway mileage now, I would continue to choose the TL over the BMW. Torque steer, front wheel drive, turning circle detract from an otherwise great car.

I recently traded in my 03 TK with 85k for this and what an upgrade! I REALLY liked my 03, but this model and year is a real treat, better performance, better fuel economy and more room on the inside as well. More toys to play with and the Navi system is a must have and worth the cost.

The Acura TL is a fun car to drive. I absolutely love my new car. Everything you need when fighting traffic, or just taking a ride, is just a voice command away. If your looking for a car, I highly recommend you take this car for a test drive. You will love it too.

My last 4 cars were MBenzs with an 02 E55 as the car before the TL. I spent months trying to justify buying a 90K car that didnt do all the things this TL does. yes I miss the big V8 and rear wheel drive, but for 35K this car is awesome. I added the A spec kit which does help with the 18 inch rims and ground effects. Ride is great power is ok, still a little torque steer but not bad if I lay off it. The doors do rattle when the windows are down and the "auto shift" wont let you shift to 2nd so it sort of makes it a little less than true shifting. But again I dont believe there is a better car under 50K including the RL.

Looked at the Grand Prix, Saab 9-3, CTS, IS 350 and the TL. The TL was the best value for the money. I am a techno guy and enjoy all the technology. My gas mileage is great on the highway (25-28 MPG) but so-so in the City (16-19) - granted, I only drive about 500 miles a month. Car handles and drives wonderfully. Very fun to drive. I do hear some of the much talkjed about rattles every so often, but not enough for me to regret my decision.

  • Great Car with may included options - 2006 Acura TL

Traded in a 2001 Inf I 30 for the TL. What a difference. The TL has effortless acceleration and the ride soaks up any bumps. The blindspots on the drivers rear right and the rear headrests are annoying but you get used to it. Overall a great car with almost everything you want.

I love cars, but I hate when they break. My last BMW spend more time in for service than it did in my garage! This thing isnt quite as fun as a 330i, BUT IT DOES NOT BREAK! Plus, I cant complain about 31 mpg with cruise set at 80 mph! You do have to run premium if you want optimum horsepower and MPG. Go with the manual transmission and dump the stock all season tires and you cant go wrong. Couldnt justify spending two grand on a nav system when I can read maps, so I didnt order that. The upgraded Brembo brakes that come with the manual version are simply amazing, but pedal modulation could be a little easier at the top of tip in. So comfortable on any road, find some twisties and enjoy!

  • Have Fun, be Responsible! - 2006 Acura TL

Interior: superb electronics and AC (a must in AZ), very stylish seats are short, lack thigh support. Exterior: good curb appeal. Large turning radius front bumper scrapes every driveway. Visibility is more sporty than sedan like. 0-25 is good, 25-80 is smooth and superb. Handles brilliantly, feels safe. Feel the road - rides best with (costly) Michelins - everything else detracts from sporty feel. This is a firm, not cushy ride. Quieter than an Accord, but more road noise than a Mercedes or Camry. Everyone likes driving this car. Smallish trunk, rear seats do not fold down, so, not good for moving stuff. If you can afford it, I doubt you can find a better car.
