Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • This car is a piece of junk - 2014 Honda Pilot

I have spent many thousands of miles in this car and hated most of them. I had a perfectly good back until I came in contact with this car. Now I am on humira and many other medications even though I am only 18 years old. The sun-visors in this broke with 30,000 miles. It worse in snow than the CRV. The parking sensors do not work my mom has backed into many things with this car because of this fact. The stereo is terrible and has almost no bass. The seat heaters where broken when the car came from the factory. The GPS cant find our house. The stero and GPS is very hard to use even for an A+ certified tech. The backseat is tiny and wont fit an adult. The trunk is horribly undersized.

  • Disappointed - 2017 Honda Pilot
    By -

It doesnt feel like an SUV. Its like a car combined with a mini van. Loose steering, slow draggie start up, sits lower so not able to treat like SUV. Lower interior limits hauling anything large. Seller was very limited on the knowledge of the vehicle and, until I received the owners manual, I didnt realize the limitations on the stereo/interface system that doesnt meet my needs. Irresponsible information from the seller caused ordering of wrong equipment. Overall disappointed with this vehicle and wish I had looked elsewhere. Nothing great about this car for the money spent.

  • Hondas Reputation is Based on Historical Results! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I bought a brand new 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L. I had the SUV for 8 months before trading it in. The vehicle drove very well and was very comfortable - great for a growing family / large family. I traded the Pilot in as the vehicle was frequently emitting a gas/oil odor through its front vents. I bought the Pilot in several times for diagnostic and repairs but the dealer was unable to replicate the issue and therefore did not have a resolution to the problem. Honda stated they would no longer look at my vehicle given the inability to replicate the issue and suggested I go through arbitration if I was still unsatisfied. I unfortunately went through the arbitration process and lost badly given Hondas experience in dealing with these matters. Honda changed its position regarding the issue, stating it was a common issue and the car should be emitting such disgusting/hazardous fumes - noting this was not a defect, but normal. (The change in Hondas position was a result of me getting a 3rd party mechanic to verify the issue.) I was very disappointed with my ownership experience and have realized that companies dont care about their customers, just their bottom line (should have known!). Also, the radio is terrible on the Pilot (I think the company is working on resolving this issue). The touch screen doesnt have a volume button, which I didnt think would bother me, but became pretty annoying over time.

  • Beautiful Death Trap - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I just about died due to acceleration on braking. Car thrust out into traffic when stopping at end of our street. Others barely swerved in time crossing into opposing traffic to avoid us. Have now read others reports of identical issues. Sudden acceleration even when brakes applied. Sudden deceleration with steady accelerator pressure at slower speeds. Only 3 months with car and have had growing concern and increasing experiences with these issues. After todays incident this car has to go back. It is not safe.

  • YOUR SAFETY IS AT RISK . CMBS DOES NOT WORK - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have the car for one month and the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) never did work in Stage 2 or Stage 3. Only the warning light comes on. Brakes are never applied. Going more than 10 MPH faster than the car ahead of you, only Stage 1 comes on with a warning notice. No light braking for Stage 2. No hard braking for Stage 3. I am Emergency Vehicle Operator Course trained. I had someone who I know keep a constant speed of 30 MPH and then retested again going 50 MPH. I would approach going 10 MPH faster than the lead car and only Stage 1 warning would activate, even when I was only 10 feet away before I had to manually apply the brakes hard. Apparently Honda/Accura had an earlier issue with the CMBS falsely activating due to being too sensitive. They did a software update but now it is not activating stage 2 or stage 3. This occurs no matter what setting ( long, normal, short) you have the CMBS set to. I brought it in twice to the dealer and although the service tech test drove it and couldnt get the brakes to work the computer stated everything was fine. Honda tech line was also called by the dealer and they said if the computer said there was no errors there is nothing to do. I called Honda Corporation and they also said there was nothing that could be done. Automatic Cruise Control works so it cant be the Radar or camera. This is a 2016 Honda Pilot Elite with CMBS

I brought this car mid of last year and already put 21K miles on this car, recently the emission system failure light turn on and I already sent back to dealer for second time last week because light turn back again. Dealer told me Cata Converter cap needs to be changed, fuel injectors need to be replaced and also fuel line pips need to be replaced too. I am not sure what happened to this car and not sure dealer can fix the issue or not after replaced lots stuffs from car.!!! Tired of to keep bring my car back to the dealer and driving a small loaner car civic.
