Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • This car is a piece of junk - 2014 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have spent many thousands of miles in this car and hated most of them. I had a perfectly good back until I came in contact with this car. Now I am on humira and many other medications even though I am only 18 years old. The sun-visors in this broke with 30,000 miles. It worse in snow than the CRV. The parking sensors do not work my mom has backed into many things with this car because of this fact. The stereo is terrible and has almost no bass. The seat heaters where broken when the car came from the factory. The GPS cant find our house. The stero and GPS is very hard to use even for an A+ certified tech. The backseat is tiny and wont fit an adult. The trunk is horribly undersized.

  • 2013 Honda Pilot EX-L - 2013 Honda Pilot

I purchased our pilot used with 21,000 miles. Still had factory warranty. After about 6 months of ownership I noticed the plastic above rear hatch was starting to separate from the window, which looked terrible. I brought it to the dealer and they told me it was a "feature". I kept complaining and they said they would fix it once and not again. They fixed it and it has already started to separate from the window. The straw that broke the camels back is a shudder when the ECO kicks in. When just barely accelerating the car would shudder, shaking the steering wheel and floor. I brought it to them twice for the same reason, and was told that is a "feature of the car". I just sold it.

  • Horrible interior quality - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

Ive been a loyal honda consumer for years!! Although I love my pilot I am very disappointed on the quality of the interior. The center arm rest completely tore. I mean, I paid extra for leather interior, come to find out that center arm rest is absolutely not leather but a super thin plastic material. The door arm rest also has torn. Same cheap material. I dont get it. Im not an abusive driver or car owner. I am very careful with my cars. Very disappointed.

  • Windshield - 2012 Honda Pilot
    By -

Love my 2012 Pilot I traded in a 2007 Pilot and love it also. The only problem I have is that in the 3 months that Ive owned it, I have 4 chips in my windshield. I didnt have one on the 2007 windshield. Driving the same roads at the same speeds. Is this due to the way the windshield slope or lack there of? Just curious if anyone else has this problem.

  • Blue tooth/home link - 2012 Honda Pilot
    By -

I hate the hands free. So far the car has been evaluated and 2 microphones replaced, 1 blue tooth, speakers. I still have garbled voices on both ends. When connecting the noise is also garbled. I called the service department from my car and I was asked to call back on a land line. What is wrong with this? I realize this is not necessarily the service departments techs as they need to follow proticall but but but. I cant be the only car with this problem. I know Im not. Hope I can get this resolved. I have had a few honda pilots and I now am very unhappy,

  • Love, love, love my Pilot - 2010 Honda Pilot
    By -

I have the Pilot EX-L w/RES. I dont have any children, but I like to do a lot of whitewater trips and I bought the Pilot because I can sleep in it, carry a lot of people for shuttle and carry a lot of boats. I have equipped it with a Thule rack that fits onto the already beefy luggage rack bars. Im thinking the RES will come in handy on boring car trips. Ive had it for 8 months and am loving the comfort and having just weathered 2 big snow storms, I can attest it is a beast in the snow, considering it doesnt have true 4wd. Mileage sucks, mostly because of my daily commute being stuck in stop and go traffic. When I get out on the open road, I have gotten 22 mpg.

  • Drivetrain shutters at cruise speed - 2012 Honda Pilot
    By -

Maybe if enough people complain about the transmission shuttering at cruise speed on Honda, they will recall and fix. My wifes 2012 Pilot shutters. Her 2006 CRV did it worse. And, it got worse as it got older. Luckily, she automatically trades in at 4 years. The 2003 CRV was perfect, wish she had not ever traded it.

  • Excellent Service, DCH, Oldbridge - 2015 Honda Pilot

Sales rep was very friendly and helpful. Did not waste anytime doing business with me. Very fast and on the point. I thank MR. Khalil. Quarashi for doing wonderful job, helping me by Honda Pilot.

  • Long time Honda owner not so happy - 2015 Honda Pilot
    By -

Purchased a 2015 Pilot EX-L thinking it would have better build quality than the other vehicles that looked sharper and had other nice features. After a few weeks of driving my new Pilot Im really disappointed. Door gasket rubs all the time, noises in the dash, back hatch squeaks every time it opens. Gaps in panels on the outside. Engine rattles when running on 4-3 cylinders. Honda are all we purchase but this one....not so happy of a Honda experience.

  • VCM Issue - 2013 Honda Pilot
    By -

From the day I drove the car off the lot, I have had concerns about vibration noises and hesitation in the engine. I am just about up with my warranty period and have complained about these issues every time I go for service. The dealer maintains there are no bulletins that address this issue however, I have noted on other sites that there are complaints about this issue. Other than that, I love the car - especially the extra space for transporting lots of stuff. I also appreciate Hondas pricing structure - unlike Toyotas which is difficult to figure out.
